1:49 AM Well... appears the Tanque has finally dropped off the "Blogs of Note." Considering there are now around 120,000 bloggers, I'm extremely impressed that it was listed there in the first place. Two weeks was a good ride!
Chris had posted some band name suggestions for Sean. I recommend "Narcoleptic Bovine." That's what I named my volleyball team.
Speaking of Shangri-La... I smell trouble. Stevie Nicks has a new album coming out.
Heidi asked about a good printer for photography. I highly recommend the Epson Stylus 900 (or better) series. You should be able to pick one up for a good price through Pricewatch. It appears there website is down at the moment though.
Bought a new volleyball and net today. If any of my local friends want to play tomorrow, we'll be out at Wash Park if the weather is nice. Just give me a call.

6:22 PM Well, my site is up and semi-working, so I'm going to say bye-bye now. *sniffle* I'll come visit often. Ned has provided a link to drunkenfish.org. I'll be posting there from now on, but I'll always be rummaging through the tanque for the intellectual cuisine that I have grown accustom to. You are one cool group of people and it's been a delight.

12:52 PM My current belief about the Electoral College is that it should be replaced by another system. I believe a straight out popular vote would leave many areas of the country without representation, so that's out. All this sending electors to do the actual voting must go. States must be represented by population, but with a way that the balance between population and geography is more fair. There should be a set mathmatical equation that would use a population curve to convert actual votes into electoral votes. Those who vote would determine this number, not actual population. It could be different every election. That would eliminate states having to give all of their votes for one candidate. And on a side note: We're the United States, the most powerful nation in the world in the year 2000, why are we using manual punch cards? Surely we can create a safe and more accurate way of counting votes electronically.

5:44 PM I知 not sure how factual I知 going to be on this, or whether I知 going to offend anyone, or if I should even be mentioning my views on this issue, but I知 going to state my opinions as a white suburban atheist American on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. First of all I strongly sympathize with both sides. Arabs have occupied that region for well over 1000 years, and the Zionist claim on the land is from way back in the kingdoms of David and Solomon, which only lasted for about 73 years. The allies, after WWII, understandably wanted to help the Jewish people find some sanctuary from the horrors they suffered. They decided to give Jews a homeland from the land they had recovered from the Axis powers. I could write tons on why this was so wrong of us to do. How would France have reacted if we had decided to give its land to someone else after the war? A quote from Harry Truman sums up the lack of moral forethought that was put into the final decision. "I am sorry gentlemen, but I have to answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism," he said. "I do not have hundreds of thousands of Arabs among my constituents." Anyway, the problem now is what is important, because whether anyone wants Israel to exist or not, it is there. This might be a terrible analogy and offensive to most, but I知 not writing a column for the NYTimes, this is the Drunkenfish. It seems like we made love to a sister (or ally) to ease her pain and thus was the birth of the Israel abomination. It was wrong to do, but here it is and now we need to support it, as it was our creation. The talks between Begin, Sadat, and Carter produced an agreement that Israel claimed it would stand by. And that agreement included not settling new lands within Palestinian occupied territory. Israel has repeatedly built strongholds right in the middle of these territories infuriating the Palestinians. This seems to me, to be one of the greatest wrongs that the Israelites have committed against the Palestinian people and I understand the outrage that ensues from these actions. On the other hand, I believe the Palestinians are committed to expelling the Jews from the Near East at all costs until the end of time or whenever they can accomplish this, whichever comes first. I do not believe that if Israel gave up land that it would end the bloodshed or territorial request from the Palestinians in the future. Giving land away is basically giving away time that Israel can exist as a nation. Another situation which is just wrong, but unfortunately is there and we just have to deal with it, is the fact that theocracies only work if the citizens of that country are all of the same religion. Giving the Palestinians half of a vote might seem like a very friendly gesture from the Israeli point of view, but it really does not produce any warm fuzzy feelings in those citizens. You cannot run a nation where a large portion of your population is half a person. I don稚 have any real fair ideas about how to solve all this, but I believe that Israel will continue to use force to protect its borders and its chosen citizens until Israel no longer exist, and Palestinians will continue to protest, throw rocks, and mob-murder Jews until Israel no longer exist. In my opinion, Israel will have to not exist somehow for the killing to stop. I知 certainly not supporting the backing off of our commitment to Israel, but the only other conclusion to this mess would be WWIII and the destruction of Islam. Muslim nations are coiling for a strike and I知 not sure whether the United States has the patience or backing to continue supporting Israel when they realize that this fight is for eternity.

6:28 PM As I reread my little drunkenfish column on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, I realized that the best I can hope from this situation is that Israel pulls it's people out of the Palestinian occupied territories and gives Palestine a home land. I know this contradicts what I said before, but I think that might buy a few years or so of peace and if it doesn't then at least it gives Israel and the United States a clearer border to defend. Maybe within the time of peace that would be created by this Israeli gesture, tensions might cool enough to giving longer lasting treaties an opportunity. Maybe this is an important enough juncture for Israel to risk the loss of land forever and increase Palestine's foothold in the region.

11:34 AM Plastics.... well, that was the thought I had after the last post I made. I have one thing to say to you Ben, plastics.... think about it.... I started the drunkeness very early this morning. I told you I was in a strange mood... my god, music is what I'm thinking about most... I played every song I've ever written this morning on my non-electric electric guitar... I've sung them all this morning... yeeeha... I'm on a shopping internet spree at the moment.... who knows what everyone will get this year... I sure don't have a clue... I was just following internet drunken shopping spree confusion and euphoria.... Why hit the stores when you have a computer. My car is now under about 4 feet of water... floods... that's a good enough excuse for me to stay home and just make a drunken day out of it for me. Thank god for Napster...well, actually I don't think god (if there is one) had anything to do with it.... I'm just happy to enjoy the service for now and blasting the songs I download as much as my boston speakers will allow. Happy Day!

11:54 AM o.k. I'm going to quote a little more on The Graduate.... "Well Ben, I think this whole plan is a little half baked." " No, it's completely baked... it's a decision I've made." for the third time... Happy Holidays people.

8:39 AM Maybe Nader should seek out the Democratic nomination next time. Hmmm.. actually I suppose the Democrats aren't too happy with him. I don't know, it just seems like a third party candidate has way too far to go to get to the white house. As the great Kermit once said... "It's not easy being Green." What the hell am I doing up this early? I just went to bed a few hours ago. Oh well, I guess I'll head off to the 'rents place for Thanksgiving. A quick message for the people in Brooklyn who I would love to be with today. Please have a completely drunken Thanksgiving orgy and raise a glass for friendship.

8:26 PM well, tomorrow is thanksgiving. yeeeha... I have the family there tomorrow and tonight I've decided to drink. Not that I am dreading the family experience or anything. I want to see them all and they are all very good people, but I'm in a very strange mood. For one, I've got a bad cold and I'm thinking... "should I inflict the family with this..." and also I'm thinking, "well hell if I'm sick and not going to thanksgiving then why the hell shouldn't I just get really drunk". I'm not sure what's causal or symptomatic here, but it's too late for all of that... I'm drunk already and I still have my cold. Most likely I'm just going to show up tomorrow hungover and sick and have to make the best of it. It's good to hear John rant and rave. I miss him and hearing his soul exposed in his normal train of thought is comforting. Holiday season always brings about that strange awakining in me to think... "shit, this is it... how long will I be alive... I should probably do something with my life". And then again, maybe being as comfortable as possible is the best a person can do. My Melody Howl story is not real literature, I think. It's an itch that needs to be scratched even as high schoolish as it might sound. I'm working on the next chapter now, called "fortress of the vampire". Just following my subconscious a little... half the time I don't even know what I'm writing on it. Anyway, it's just an experiment, which is what I'd like the site to eventually turn in to for those who write here. This is one amongst many pleas that I will make to invite those who want to just experiment with their thought process and write what's on their mind whether it sounds like legitimate literature or not. Delving into the unknown places of the mind and just creating something is worth while, I think. John's blogging is perfect representation of that idea and I hope he continues to spew here. Like I said, I'm drinking, so there might be more posts tonight, or maybe there won't .... not sure this is that kind of drunk for me. If I don't post... Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
