7:29:27 PM I don't trust the government. I don't trust the media.

I don't trust that either of these two will do the Right Thing. I don't know what that is, but it certainly can't be war.

Strange how everything looks differently now. I've been looking at people's faces more. I've been taking inventory of my personal resources. I've been returning clothes I bought last week (ok, they were ugly on me so i had to). And every morning when I come up from the BART station I look very very closely at the sky to make sure all the familiar landmarks still exist and are not on fire. I'm noticing hiding places and particularly bad hiding places (like any floor on my 50 story building). I've been petting my cat a lot. I think he needs some space. I'm amazed at people who don't seem affected. I wonder if there will be protests against the impending revenge. I wonder if I will take part. I wonder if the Middle Eastern gentlemen who run the corner store are afraid of pissed off Americans. I decided to get a cell phone today.

9:19:53 AM

I have questions.

Why is there no footage of the plane crashing into the Pentagon? I know it sounds morbid, but why? It's the Pentagon. You know and I know there are cameras on the Pentagon at all hours of the day and night. Also, the pictures I've seen seem to show very little actual wreckage. I don't know, but it seems weird. Also, does anyone think that maybe the plane the went down in Pennsylvania might have been shot down? There were lots of calls made from the planes and by that time the other three planes had already crashed. Press hasn't been allowed to get near that area either. I don't mean to start any conspiracy theories or anything, but some things don't make sense.

I hope all of this will finally make our government realize that they need to stop creating monsters. I've been going over this and over this and I'm more pissed at the machine that cranks out these bullies with each passing minute. We trained these people!! I have little hope after listening to all the commentary in the media. sigh.

11:15:50 AM I'm not really sure what to say that hasn't already been said, but I feel a need to get that cheerful post off the top.

It's weird being at work today. As some of you know, I work in the securities industry. About 30 securities firms and many more law firms I regularly work with were located in the WTC. I'm getting call after call asking what to do now. Where should things be mailed? How do I contact Mr. So and so? What about my deadline? I keep answering, "I don't know. Yet." It's hard trying to put pieces back together when you can't even find them. And I don't mean to make it seem that these calls are coming from people who don't care. Everyone's being very sensitive and the wavering I hear in their voices makes me realize that these people have perhaps lost friends and collegues, but life continues. It's just all very surreal. Don't know what else to say or think.

9:13:40 AM Every night for the last week I've been having dream/hallucinations that the earth is quaking. Sometimes it's a dream and sometimes it's just a truck going by. Sometimes it's my cat. I can't figure out why I'm obesessing over it at night; I don't worry about it in the day. I don't like it because it's scary to me.

10:55:12 AM Happy Birthday Jimmy Robinson! I hope this is the best one yet!

Today I'm wearing: Black Cowboy boots, shiny orange denim-ish pants and a gray turtleneck sweater. I'm with Heidi on this one. I love clothing as a form of self-expression. This wasn't always the case, I think. In college I was a jeans and flannel girl (oh! the heady days of grunge!), but as I've gotten older I've taken more of an interest in my wardrobe. My two major addictions are jackets and shoes. I've been buying more bags and belts lately, too. Am I materialistic? Perhaps. But it's not as though I look to these things as a sort of status symbol. They're fun. Simple as that. I love being a girl. And I love standing out in a crowd. Vain and narcissistic? Sure. But hell, I'm living in the city of vanity and uber-hipster-ness. It's part of what makes it funny when I wear my royal blue and white fake fur snow princess coat with a red dress, big biker boots and sunglasses. You can't take it all so seriously. Going out wearing a quasi-costume outfit is quite liberating. As Ministry said one day long ago: Every day is like Halloween. HA! I can't believe I just quoted Ministry.

Kisses, dahlings. Have a lovely weekend. I think I'm inspired to do some thrifting!

12:04:33 PM Ahhhh, back to my lovely San Francisco! I wish I could have packed all of my Midwestern friends and brought you back with me.

Unfortunately I still don't have much time to post as Da Man is on my ass to get some of these piles on my desk taken care of. Bastard.
