Spectronic Sidetouch Multimedia Telephone
just in time for Cebit, the world’s biggest telecom exhibition, Spectronic will market a multimedia telephone with a built-in digital camera, fax function, Internet browser for Web and WAP, e-mail function for speech, pictures as well as written messages, loudspeaking handsfree, etc. New e-mail and fax messages or memos are written and edited with the word-processing programme and the Sidetouch system. The one-hand performance simplifies use. The Multimedia Telephone has an intelligent electronic library for e-mail, faxes, pictures, sounds, phone numbers, and notes. The telephone shows a chronological summary of all events, e.g. meetings, phone conversations, e-mail, fax messages, pictures and audio files. By marking an event, for example a picture, an e-mail message or a fax message, the content will be shown immediately. There is no need for sorting written, sent or received information. When you wish to use previous information, you will find it under the heading, the date and the name, all automatically sorted. Information synchronization can be performed against Microsoft Outlook.

wireless images
New applications that take digital images and transmit them via wireless Net devices are out!

The BugMe! Messenger application for Handspring Visor handhelds works with a wireless modem and the IDEO eyemodule camera module, which snaps into Visor's Springboard expansion slot, according to vendor Electric Pocket. After snapping an image with the eyemodule camera, users can hand-write captions on the image and send them as e-mail. The system works with any wireless e-mail system that is Visor-compatible. It costs $39.95 and includes a free bugme.net e-mail address.
Separately, LightSurf Technologies said it will demonstrate a system that clips a digital camera onto a Motorola GPRS wireless phone. The system then transmits the photos to other Net devices and platforms, according to the company. LightSurf provided few details about the system except to say it would be demonstrated for the first time at the CeBIT trade show, which starts next week in Germany.
