Latest CD tips appear to be: Neuroticfish - Velocity (had it for almost a year though!), Echo Image's album, God Module's album, Seabounds album, and "Psyche" by The Hiding Place. I also recommend "Belief" by Close Encounters, and "Failure" by Assemblage 23. Also, the Diva Destruction album is pretty good...

Still here, post more often to the weblog at http://slimelight.blogspot.com...
Zillo was fantastic as were the VNV shirts!
Photographic evidence can be seen at http://www.slimelight.com/zillo2001/
It's only a web directory page atm, I will set it up as
HTML with picture names when I have time! :o)

Wheee! I leave for the Zillo festival in a few hours time! As Little Alex often says on Playhouse Disney, "FANTASTIC!" ;o)

I'm posting this entry from somewhere in Germany not far from Mainz... Unfortunately, I will be away from Slimes until the 23rd June, due to a wedding this weekend (hence me being in Germany) and the Zillo festival on the 16th - also in Germany and not far from where I am at this very moment in time. However, as per usual the CD shops pulled me in and said "spend, spend, spend" so I have acted accordingly. :)

Nils and I will be drinking the Green Drink on Saturday. Feel free to jump up and down with us to anything by Covenant! :o)

Yet more CDs have arrived from Germany, but this time they are promo ones. One of them is the new Cult single! Oh dear!?! ;o)

Yippee! I have 20 new CDs this week which arrived from the land of cheap CDs (known as Infrarot!) a few days ago! Rar! Also, I've uploaded half a dozen set lists to the dance floor one page of the site... I wonder how many VNV remixes we can play in one night *cough*... ;o)

I guest DJed at Club Noir last night which was quite good fun. I got to play the new Icon Of Coil single and the And One remix of Project Pitchfork's "Timekiller". Usually Nils beats me to playing this one at Slimes - although he plays the normal version.
Only 3 weeks until myself and 5 intrepid companions set off for Losheim Am See in Germany to the Zillo festival. I fear that we will spend the entire day on the Saturday answering the question "where can I get one of those T-shirts from?" :o)

Saturday coming will be week 3 on the new floor: overall I think it's much better, but there are a few things which need to be ironed out. Haven't posted much the last few weeks because things have been a bit pants overall. Don't fear, my bizzare sense of humour is still here! :o)

So we move to the new floor on May 5th - which happens to be the birthday weekend of my erstwhile sometime artist flat-mate Emb. He now trys to spell his nickname as "M" but I refuse to comply! :) Mr Irish Dave is coming down for a spot of guest DJing too, so it should be a good weekend. The cute German one might even wear her drinking T-shirt - apparently she drank 13 bacardi and cokes on Saturday at Whitby!!! We're all very impressed - I held my own "Whitby in London" event by going out Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, drinking as much as possible, and ignoring the bands playing live at Slimelight!!! ;o) However, I didn't manage any bacardi and cokes, but plenty of bourbon was quaffed - except on Sunday when after 4 I had a raging headache!!!!!! Ouch! Oh something very amusing: Nils has a new nick-name: Noddy!?! I'm not quite sure where this comes from yet, but I hope to have pictoral evidence soon - courtesy of the cute German one's brand new scanner (and pc!). heheheheheh! :o)

Just in case anyone is even vaguely interested, my band Revolution By Night are actually going to play a gig! You may know our song "Faithless" which has become a popular track at Slimelight. Anyhow, we're supporting Funker Vogt at the London Camden Underworld on Saturday June 30th. The aftershow party is at Slimelight (what a shock!?!) so it promises to be an excellent evening... I think you can get tickets from the Underwold, Stargreen and Resurrection Records.

At least I have a head start this time!!!!!!!!! :o)

The three floor Easter Slimelight special went quite well. Special guests Icon Of Coil played an amazing live set upstairs. Make sure you get hold of a copy of their forthcoming Seren E.P. Project X were also good (but thankfully Nils didn't take his shirt off!), and I didn't catch Inertia. Downstairs was jammed solid again, which was nice! :o)
My recommended listening this week is the And One remix of Timekiller on the new Project Pitchfork single of the same name. Fantastic... I think I've seen too much playhouse disney.... don't even ask.... unless you know who and what Tutter is! ;o) By the way, Nils *did* remove his shirt at the recent Pitchfork gig at the Garage, London - and then he blamed me for it saying I'd put the idea in his head. 3 words: oh my god! :oD

After finishing a stint in the old DJ box at 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, I asked a punter to move out of the way (so I could exit said DJ box) by saying "Beep! Beep! I'm coming out! I'm coming out!".... I paused and then said "Er, I don't mean that the way it sounds". His reply? - "So you're not going to admit you're a goth then?" :o) Much merriment ensued!
Ian Fford from the Albion in New York guest DJed for a couple of hours on Saturday too, and what a smashing chap he was, and indeed is! Not only are we the same age, but we also seem to share the same taste in music, and have both experienced many strange comments from club-goers over the years. Actually we had one on Saturday: I'd just played Das Ich, Project Pitchfork (top live performance from them on Sunday), Einsturzende Neubauten, Laibach, Wolfsheim and VNV Nation, and a guy came up and asked for "less Ibizia music please". As I often say, Bizzare! :o)

My God, I don't have THAT much time on my hands!

Who caught "Melotron" playing live upstairs on Saturday? A certain cute German person had someone come up to them and say [bad English spoken in a German accent] "excuse me, who is this? is this And One?" Of course, the reply they received (in German) was "no, it's Melotron - like it says on the posters all over the club saying what time they are going to play..." The person looked shocked at being spoken to in German, and said "No, I'm sure it is And One". *shakes head*
Quite... :o)

The right hand CD deck finally gave up the ghost on Saturday gone after several weeks of magically pausing mid-song for a second or two, then resuming playback! Even worse, it sometimes jumped a few minutes of a song! Even worse than that, everyone has a habit of cheering and clapping when it happens - even though we can't do anything about it. It strikes at random, and we have no defence... Thankfully, we were able to use a new CD deck on Saturday. Rar! However, all was not well... Instead of the mystery "pause" phenomena, the amps decided to cut out a couple of times during the night instead! ARGH!!!!

A quick reminder to anyone out there coming to Slimelight this weekend. British Summer Time (yeah, right!) begins while the club is pumping out hardcore tunes (!?!) on Sunday 25th March at 1 a.m when the clocks move forward one hour to 2 a.m.

One of my friends has too much time on his hands. On hearing that I was looking into the possibility of buying a car, he came up with this picture! I might stop laughing at some point today! :o)
