Big news. I will probably be a fourth-grade teaching assistant. Full-time. I never really envisioned myself as an elementary school teacher, but I do like 4th and 5th graders. You can talk to them, and they can talk back and understand plenty.

In addition, I am taking undergrad Spanish night classes, and then starting on my master's degree by taking Greek 1 and Hermeneutics. Hopefully, Jason or Matt or both will take them too, because I am a bit scared of doing them by myself. At least Greek is a whole year long, so it will go a lot slower than your normal class. And maybe by learning myself I will get an even better understanding of it. Spanish is a pre-req for the Linguistics half of my degree (a MA double major in Bible and Linguistics, eventually from Dallas Theological Seminary). They recommended I have at least 2 semesters of a college-level, spoken language. I took Latin in college, and they said that might not help me too much in the Linguistics part. The degree is tailored for future Bible translators, so the linguistics classes are pretty much only about interpreting verbal communication. Since most people take spoken languages in college, it's not an official requirement, but one of those "We strongly suggest...." things. Well, hopefully Spanish will help me anyway.

i have noticed that almost all blogs have a similar style of web design. trends in pale colors, but not white; very small letters; reading lists; and side bars with random info about the person. interesting.

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them." -- Eph. 2:4-10

I apologize to those of you who may have posted on my guestbook and don't see the post. I have been meaning to fix it, but have had very little free time this summer. I plan to renovate my website this fall when school will afford me more time (seriously!).

"It...looks...like a flying cow!" -Kelly Reid in reference to my "Sensosketch" (sorta like blind Pictionary) drawing of a cow jumping over the moon in the game Cranium.

She was exactly right. To bad she was on the other team!

I realize I have been lax about my blogger. I apologize to the probably zero of you who read it. I put the bookmarklet on IE, and should remember to use it now. If I don't see it, I don't use it, although then I get stuff lost in my head that I wish I could remember later...

Rev. 5:4 - "So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it."

"Good men may be too eager and to hasty to look into the mysteries of divine conduct. Such desires, not presently answered, turn to grief and sorrow. Hope deferred makes the heart sick." Matthew Henry on Rev. 5:4

Rev. 2:7b - "To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God."

Rev. 2:11 - "He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death."

Rev. 2:17b - "To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it."

Rev.2:26 - "And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations-- 'He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter's vessels'-- as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star.

Rev. 3:5 - "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels."

Rev. 3:12 - "He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. And I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name."

Rev. 3:21 - "To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne."

Mission Network News (Pakistan)--Here's an update on a story of a 14-year-old Christian girl who was kidnapped in Pakistan. According to Voice of the Martyrs, Naira Nadia was kidnapped because she was sharing her faith with her Muslim friends. A recent letter from her mother suggests a powerful Muslim, Maqsood Ahmed Sheikh is still holding the young girl. To cover up the crime, Sheikh sent a certificate to the girl's family claiming she had converted, which is illegal for a minor. Police are ignoring the family's request for justice.

Gary Cherone (former lead singer for Van Halen) sent a letter to Eddie Vedder (lead singer for Pearl Jam) for Vedder`s comments in Rolling Stone Magazine. Vedder basically said that terminating a pregnancy is not an easy thing to do.

Cherone asked Vedder:

"Is the life within the mother`s womb a human person? If the answer is no, it is not a human person why would one feel [terminating] it is not an easy thing to do?

If the answer is yes, it is a human person, why would one advocate terminating it? ..the unborn is not a human person, no justification for abortion is necessary. However, if the unborn is a human person no justification for abortion is adequate."
