Hi, I would like to announce that I am not 40, as has been incorrectly reported in the guestbook by my new friend Agent Bastard. I am 44 and 1/2.

Easy ways to look busy: - hold a highlighter in your hand
- stare at the ceiling, holding a pen to your chin
- walk fast with a lot of change in your pockets
- take off your glasses and rub your eyes, sighing
- constantly roll your desk chair from one point to another, moving things
- move your desk lamp real close to whatever you're reading
- use your finger to move along the page
- get close to the screen and squint when someone looks at you

Seems as though Clutch is appearing at DragonCon in Atlanta? I was perusing the schedule for this nerd-fest, finding some things that actually looked interesting. Then all at once the fringe element hit me.
- 2:30PM Duels Of Fate: The One Hour Long Star Wars Lightsabre Competition.
- 7:00PM 60 minutes of Star Wars Prequel Speculation
- 8:30PM 1.5 hours of Advanced Prop Building Demo and Challenge
- 7:00PM 60 minutes of Xena Plotlines you love to hate
- 10:00AM 1 hour on the UFO Crash At Roswell, Update 2001
OK OK I usually don't poke that much fun. But Harlan Ellison makes not 1, not 2, but THREE 1-hour autograph session appearances!
 Nice tie.

Let's get depressed, all lower-case style!
this is the bed that i have made
this is the grave where i will lay
these are the hands
where i will bury my face
i don't believe in wasting time
searching for truth you'll never find
nobody moves
we live in the great decay
all these ghost towns share a name
anywhere, u.s.a.
all these strangers look the same
dayafterdayafter day
this great decay
from birth to the grave
and i've seen what it can do
and i'm afraid it's got me, too
cause i can feel it suck me in
cause i feel i'm loosing grip
dayafterday it's static life
weekafterweek it's sacrifice
monthaftermonth you meditate
on all of the years that waste away
this is the life that i embrace
this is the world that i create
falling in to the great decay
give in give in give up
all these verses share a theme:
the great decay
we don't amount to anything
it's just day after bloodsucking day

At the gas station there was a Gatorade advertisement on the windshield squegee. Imagine that. It takes 30 seconds to clean the windshield. Advertising - is it in you?
30 seconds, waste not, want not.

Maybe I'll understand when I have kids, but zipper-lock ziplock bags seem completely unnecessary. Is it really that hard to seal a ziploc bag? The commercial even shows adults having problems and "hoping" they did it right. Just how important is it that your bag of orange wedges is sealed?

I've written a real simple interface for the blogger API. I don't know where people think this is going. I mean, people can write skin-able clients, Word plug-ins, whatever. It's not the greatest thing since sliced bread like they think over on the mailing list. I built on the existing COM interface by Richard Caetano, implementing the methods he's not kept up with.
I've got this app I've built, it's real simple, and I wonder when I will ever use it since the web interface it always there. Are there uses I'm not seeing?
Well, I notice on blogger.com that they've got Jabber posting to a blog and you can post from WAP-enabled cell phones. Ummm people need that much connectivity? Prove it. Scripting news jokes, "At 11:20AM Doc Searls is giving a slide presentation at JabberCon. Maybe I'll realtime blog it?" - uhhh there's already a technology for that and I don't have to press F5 for an hour to use it.

[ note: this post was made using a simple GUI with bloggerCOM by Richard Caetano ]
I finally broke down and bought one of those newfangled portable MP3 players that the kids are so into these days. Of course, I wouldn't have jumped on it without one hell of a deal because I've been doing just fine with bringing home zip disks full of MP3 from work, x'ing them to the home network and burning MP3 or normal CD's for car use.
Settled on the Rio PMP300, which is one hell of an outdated old model. But, it was $59 at CompGeeks.com and there's a $50 rebate ... you do the math. That's a 32MB model, so I picked up a 32MB add-on from newegg.com for $17. Note if you have Win2K, plan to spend hours and hours trying to find some software for the thing (Diamond doesn't support NT/2K). Or just look here:
Snowblind Alliance: open source drivers for all kinds of players. Dreaming of Brazil: an oddly named but great interface for those drivers.

Some people you see limping and you think, "Wow, they must have some kind of sports-related injury or something." Or, "That's one crazy dude, he must've been doin some of that Jackass stuff and messed up a leg or somethin."
Then there are limpers where you just think, "Must've fallen off a kitchen step-stool." Or, "Probably fell in the shower."
