Article: It won’t be long before you will not be able to live without a PDA from Diagnostic Imaging

Growing capabilities will make the personal digital assistant a vital tool for time-pressed radiologists. By Bruce Reiner, M.D., and Eliot Siegel, M.D.

"Having to run to our office, if we even have one, to boot up the computer and enter or retrieve information creates a barrier imposing enough to make this solution impractical. An increasing number of radiologists are instead purchasing personal digital assistants (PDAs). Cleveland Clinic, for example, gives each member of its incoming house staff a PDA, which gradually becomes indispensable for the daily routine. Have we reached the point at which the PDA has really become a practical solution for radiologists and other members of the imaging department, or is it still just another toy for gadget geeks? Is it time to take the PDA plunge?"
