With tensions running high, it is important at a time like this to take a moment to pause and reflect upon the ways in which all human beings are connected.

Someone who does this excellently is Roger Whitting, whose zine Connected Rhode Island is currently being reviewed in our Zines District.

Our hearts go out to those of you who have been affected by the recent tragic events. Much of our weblog has been given over to links that we feel are of special note during this difficult and trying time. If you know of a link that you would like us to feature, do not hesitate to let us know.

We're back!

As you may have noticed, we ended up taking a vacation from working on the site for the month of August. No zine reviews, no free game.

Why? Well, there's been a wedding in the happy Invisible City family — may I have the pleasure of introducting Mr. Jonathan Leistiko and Ms. Sharon Jeanne Cichelli Leistiko.

I went out and served as the best man.

But anyway. Back to work. New reviews are underway for the Zines District, beginning with our review of the perzine Don't Let's. And there will be two Games of the Month in the Games District this September. Stay tuned.

Whoops.

We were recently informed that the PDF version of last month's Game of the Month, Yield!, was missing a crucial page. Apologies to those of you who downloaded it and found yourself confused.

In any case, a repaired version is available here. Enjoy.

Thanks to Invisible Citizen Tim E. for writing in with the troubleshooting 411.

Newly reviewed in our Zines District:

The April 2001 issue of Dwelling Portably, a zine which concentrates on "bare bones approaches to traveling and the itinerant lifestyle."

Reviewed by special guest reviewer Jessamyn West.

This month's Game of the Month is Yield!, a strategy game set in a dystopian future. Can you engineer collisions with your opponent in such a way that you can destroy their vehicle while keeping yours intact? For two to three players. Check it out in our Games District.

For those of you who don't like reading off a screen, a printable version of the rules is available in our Invisible Bazaar.

Also new in the Bazaar are the printable rules for last month's Game of the Month, Roboctopus. Roboctopus is a game that's meant to be played in a pool, and summertime is well upon us, so print out the rules, learn the game and get in the water!

Newly reviewed in the Zines District:

The Secret Life of Snakes, a new zine of autobiographical stories from Cullen Carter, the former editor of My Moon or More.
