So were we a target here in Richmond, or not?

"The FBI warned two Southeast cities - Richmond, Va., and Atlanta - it had information suggesting terrorists may have had plans for attacks in those cities, law enforcement officials said.

But late Friday, further investigation left officials doubtful of the threat. The information came from an acquaintance of one of the hijackers and was shared with Atlanta and Richmond, officials said. But the witness failed a lie-detector test Friday evening."

Last night, Sara and I were watching CNN yet again, and the network reported that additional cities were also intended for attack. More precisely, Boston, Atlanta, and Richmond. The associated press confirms this. According to CNN, targets were "tall buildings" and "sports stadiums." Now Richmond, being a third-tier city in terms of size and population, certainly isn't a sports hub. But it is a key city in a key location. We're 2 hours (by car) south of Washington, and about 2 hours west of Norfolk, which is our nation's main Naval base on the east coast and the headquarters of our Navy. Richmond, of course, is the state capital of Virginia, and as such, we directly affect a good portion of those working in D.C. And anyone who knows finance knows that we have a Federal Reserve building here that supports not only Virginia, but D.C., and that money's minted here (as it is in Detroit and Philadelphia). Given these details, the possibilty of an attack kinda makes sense.

But since the person interviewed failed a lie detector test, it's not true. I'm admittedly skeptical. Not paranoid, mind you, but I could see why this wasn't covered widely for fear of a panic in those cities. It almost feels as if this has been swept under the rug. Yet over the past few days, I have heard fighter jets going over our downtown apartment about four times a day - very loud, and very low. Then again, I'm as freaked out by this week as everyone else.

It's weird enough watching television Tuesday, thinking about my friends who were in the middle of things and how I used to work in that area. Now I'm questioning if my hometown and current city wasn't in line for something similar.

This just keeps getting weirder and weirder...
