Sports Info | Penn State's Sharif Chambliss Concludes European Swing With Big Ten Touring Team Squad Posts Perfect 6-0 Mark State College, Pa. - August 21, 2001 - Penn State Nittany Lion basketball player Sharif Chambliss (Racine, Wisc.) averaged nearly ten points per game and almost five assists per contest and led the Big Ten Touring Team to three more wins and close out the European swing with a perfect 6-0 mark. Chambliss, a 6-1 guard with the Nittany Lions, scored two points and dished out a team-best five assists in a 105-47 win over Waterford Crystal, then followed that up with a 14 points, six assist outing in the team's 112-96 win over Limmerick, Ireland. In the tour's final game, Chambliss had nine points and three assists in a hard-fought 86-78 win over the Irish National Team. With Chambliss' stint in Europe and head coach Jerry Dunn and senior forward Tyler Smith (Lake Bluff, Ill.) on their way to Beijing, China, for the World University Games, Penn State is receiving plenty of international experience during the close of the summer.
