Dinner with my parents to celebrate Father's Day, a call from my brother who I haven't talked to in ages. I've decided I need to get my head out of the clouds and go practical for a bit. Get things done. Make some money. the Barbelith Underground is back up and running again, but with the first potentially interesting thread already descending into pointless name calling and childish overreacting I'm feeling a bit disillusioned. I was going to post a response to it, but I just can't be bothered now. I'll probably post tomorrow when I have more energy, but who knows. All I'll say before I head off to bed is if protesters or so-called revolutionaries could get along with each other even half as well as their so-called enemies, the world probably wouldn't be as close to the brink of global fascism as it is right now. Cheers and goodnight. Saturday, June 16, 2001
I'm down in San Diego again, visiting my family. My dad's taken my little brother down to Mexico to do some racing, and my mom is at work, so I've got the entire place to myself right now. Which doesn't really mean anything except that I finally have some time to update this painfully infrequent weblog of mine. I've been coughing like crazy for the last few days, probably due to the inconceivable amount of smoking I did with my friends before I came down here. But it's getting better. When I get back to Santa Cruz I think I'm gonna experiment with a vaporizer, which would be a lot easier on my lungs than a bong. The Barbelith Underground has gone down for reinstallation, but the Barbelith Webzine is up and running and is actually turning out to be a pretty great read. I have more article ideas for this project than I can even count, though I don't know how soon I'll be getting to them. I have a lot of writing I need to get done, on top of everything else going on in my life, so now that I think of it, some personal streamlining is probably in order. And on a lighter note, I'm in love with a girl who may or may not love me back, but I'm in with a chance so I'm smiling. Monday, June 04, 2001
I walked down to this little coffee shop this afternoon because I'd never been there before. The girl working there was nice, but the chai tea was terrible. It basically tasted like cinnamon water so I didn't drink it. I'll probably walk to Borders and get some there later tonight. Sunday, May 27, 2001
My favorite TV show of all time is The John Lauraquette Show, and now that it is being rerun on the USA network I have a reason to get up in the morning instead of in the afternoon. It's an incredible show, the kind that was really original and creative and funny and only lasted two seasons because of it. I'm recording it, because it feels like art, and because chances are it won't be on the air very long. I also record Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Freakazoid. They all have the same kind of lunatic postmodern feel to them. It sounds nerdy, I know, but they're definately worth keeping around. And it gets me up in the morning, so it can be nothing but 100% beneficial. I've taken to wearing leg weights under my jeans when I walk downtown. It's probably a four hour walk round trip, and I figure I might as well get the most out of it as possible. I finally signed up for Ba Gua lessons, though I haven't had my first lesson yet. I planning on doing Jason Louv's "Neither-Neither" meditation tonight, and tomorrow it's back to magic. Last night I started a novel and I don't know what it's about yet. I'm working on a few short stories as well. My information intake is speeding up again, and I'm doing self hypnosis every day. I won't go into too much detail on the self-hypnosis thing until it works or doesn't work though, then I'll be able to explain it without feeling like an ass. Saturday, May 12, 2001
So a friend of mine came over last night and brought some hash with him. It was about 1 am. Eleven hours I'm still high and strugling to get out of bed. Hash is much to psychologically intense for me to take before I go to sleep, I'll have to watch that in the future. Time to do laundry and/or space out for a long time. Tune in later for the thrilling post that will follow! Thursday, May 10, 2001
Bah. I thought the new X-Force issue that came out yesterday would be the one starting the Peter Milligan/Mike Allred run on it, but it wasn't. There was a Metabaron's tpb out though, so it all worked out in the end. Wednesday, May 09, 2001
So all my driver's liscence information has been taken care of. All I have to do is walk into the DMV and ask to get it renewed and that's the majority of my problems solved. Grant Morrison's X-Men are coming out next week, that's definately a good thing. I think X-Force is coming out today. . . Man, it's too early for typing. I'll post about my day as soon as I get a bit more into it.
