We have a little girl.

Actually, I should clarify that. We have a little four-legged, 6-8 week old calico girl.

Mate left for work this morning, then immediately came back in. "There's a kitten out here," he said. I was out of bed and dressed in record time. He handed me the kitten. She was purring loudly, and didn't seem to mind being handed around. "Better take care of her until someone comes looking for her," he said, and I took her inside.

Spazz was highly Not Amused. He's leaving her alone now, but that may be because she's asleep on the floor under my chair.

I don't think anyone's going to come looking for her, though. As soon as I took the cat food bag down from the top of the fridge, she started raising hell. I fixed her up a bowl of food and she dove into it. I think she ate about a cup of food before she decided that she was full.

After that, she found one of Spazz's rabbit fur mice and threw it around for a solid half-hour. Every so often, she would toss it a little too close to Spazz. They would have a little standoff over the mouse, then Spazz would back off, then the kitten would resume throwing the mouse around. She threw it into the water bowl more than once. See, Spazz? Just like you.

So I guess she's tuckered out now. Spazz is still giving us both dirty looks, but is not actively trying to kill either of us, so I guess things will settle down after a while. And when he did swat at her, he didn't have his claws out. I suppose I'll just do what I did when I first brought him home and he and Midi were having their little dominance dick-size war...ignore them unless they start breaking things.
