I’m currently in a quandary about child-rearing. How much of what I read about child stuff should I believe? I inherently think that it is important to be aware of the most up-to-date research on child-rearing; if data are out there on the best methods, then I would be a fool to ignore them. But when should I just throw the book out the window? How do I know the difference between what is counter-intuitive and what is just wrong? What worries me is this – the academic study of Education. These people are scary, and have ruined our school systems with their theories. What if one of these PhDummies wrote the baby book I’m reading? I could melt my child’s brain before she’s 2 months old! EeeeK! Our neighbor had a good suggestion about what to do about this stuff “ You read books, throw out the stuff you don’t like, and move on” – the ever-pragmatic Marlee Calloway Hmmm…
