morning all,
just wanted to note that ryan has made the beginning page more random. it now is pulling 16 of the last albums w/a picture from the database, then display four of them at random. nice work on his part, cleaning up my old code and writing a vbs class file for it. (eww doesnt vbs and class file just sound dirty together)
i dug away at building a better playlist together. now parsing the data from our bedroombeats.htm file that gets updated to the server at song change. links have been added that will take you to the appropriate "track" link.
ok that is enough for now. sleep well (with the fishes haha)

just wanted to pass along a note to everyone visiting tdb. we recently took on two new staff member. bryan and ryan will be working on reviews, development, and other assorted snack runs for the team. bryan specializes in downtempo music and college days. he is currently a radio personality at the college he attends. ryan on the other hand is a code nerd (hope im not stepping on toes) like myself. he actually listened intently while i babbled about new ideas for tdb the other night. AMAZING if you consider most people turn their heads in silence after i get rambling (yes kind of like right now hehe).
what you say? how can these guys run for snacks from such long distances away? (all of tdb's members are assorted around the world) well just give it time and we will explain our super-convhr00mer-matic-transporter-internet-thingy. it works like magic and allows us to all visit/talk each other on a regular basis.
in case you would like to learn a bit more about either of these two members, just visit the tdb staff page and get your read on.
cheers,

Here are some ideas for new features that have been kicking around my head whilst I tried to fall asleep last week...
12" single reviews
streaming/download featured downtempo DJ mixes (i.e. Mixmaster Morris)
artist interviews (I personally volunteer myself to track down Chris Brandt in ATL) :P
thoughts?

joy and happiness...
i recently decided to figure out a way to display playlist data on tdb. the project turned into a simple winsock client that pulls http data, then passes it off to tdb via ftp. notice the "playlist offline...." listed above, in the spot where you would normally see the link to tdb's bedroombeats audio stream? when it is functioning properly, this is the place to find bedroombeats playlist data. keep in mind, this is still limited to live365's playlist and will only return the correct data if their playlist functions properly.
the forums are still available for testing. one post has been made so far. i would like to see more postings before removing this area from testing. have a look if you get a chance, the forums/discussions can be found at http://www.thedownbeat.org/look/discussion/.
