About this issue:

FOOD, FOLKS, & FUN...
Although scatterbrained as always, this issue of UM spins around the recurring motif of McDonald's Restaurant and their familiar slogan of decade's past, "Food, Folks, and Fun." The articles are more concerned with the Fast Food Culture we're living in than the restaurant, per se. It was inspired, actually, by converging news stories that have been coming out like hotcakes in a Big Breakfast: the McNoggin tale, the rise of Hoof and Mouth disease and Mad Cow Disease among cattle in Europe, and my growing fascination with (or fear of) the "McDonaldization" of the globe. Sure, Mickey D's is a somewhat easy target of attack, and I don't mean to suggest that their food contains those diseases -- rather our widescale predeliction for fast food contributes to the problems we (and they) are having.
Pass the syrup. Eat up. Enjoy. -- Un

Issue #1 is currently being rearchived and will soon be moved to an alternative location.

More articles in our fun departments, "Wacky Packages" and "Oxymoronica," will be published over the season, so check back again from time to time. You also might be interested in following the UM BLOG, which is updated with odd tidbits quite regularly.

The magazine is not open to outside contributions at the present time, so please don't send us articles or recommended links.

Unheimlich Maneuvers is featured in Randy's WWW Weirdness directory.
