I'm so frustrated with my friends right now...
Yesterday Jess & I took Becki out to eat for her birthday. We went to Sandusky so we had like a 40 minute drive. The entire time we were in the car they talked about band.
Which would be fine and all if I actually knew anything about the people they were discussing! It was annoying, but I was like, "Okay, it's her birthday, so whatever..." I figured it would get better once we got to the restaurant. But oh no, it continued forever and ever. So I just sorta tuned it out and didn't talk for the majority of the meal. I wasn't exactly happy with the situation, but I could deal.
Then right when we were leaving, This Time Around started playing and I was like, "Oh, sit down! I want to hear it!" And they immediately started with the, "Stef...come on! You need to get over it!"
So I left *without* hearing the song. And they were all like, "Who cares? You've heard it gazillion times!" But it's different when it's playing by someone else's choice, ya know? It's not even worth arguing with them, though...
So I'm upset & sort of angry. I make an effort to *not* mention Hanson around them because I know they don't care. Then when the song plays and I simply want to listen, they yell at me. They babble about band which I obviously could give a damn about and I don't complain at all...
It's not like I even ask them to like Hanson anymore, I just want them to respect the fact that I do....
(There's actually a letter to Becki in unsent about this same thing (and a few other issues) that I wrote on Saturday.)

I'm such a good procrastinator anymore. I've been putting off writing an outline for an essay on Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily" all weekend. Mostly because I wasn't sure what exactly I wanted to write about, but also because I'm just not in the mood for English.
So in the process of procrastinating, the blog has been cleaned out quite nicely. I closed 49 entries that were pretty much pointless & edited a ton more.
We also have brand spankin new 403 & 404 pages, not to mention an unsent section & several more mp3s in /mp3.
And I even managed to pull out the outline this morning. It's full of these huge, wordy sentances & I ended up wishing I could just write the paper, but it's not too bad.

The cover of MOE 11 is...nice?
They look *so* grown up! I was just like, "Whoa!" when I first saw it.
Taylor (unfortunately) looks wonderful...they all do really. Isaac's little hair thing on his chin is slightly more disturbing in that pic than it was in the dark studio ones, but in general I'm quite fond of the cover.
...I can't wait until my MOE shows up in the mail (which going on past experience should be in about a month and a half). And I really can't believe there's only one more issue left.

So Becki's surprise wasn't all that thrilling. She didn't know about it in advance, but it just wasn't that cool. Like two seconds after it happened, she was too busy talking to someone else to even acknowledge the cake.
Jess & I were both like, "Okay, that *so* wasn't even worth it."
But Becki pretty much ignored me & Jess the entire night. I don't even get why...she's like a different person when she's surrounded by all the band people.
And the term "band geek" has a whole lot more meaning to me now than it ever did before. My oh my, those are some scary people... *laughs*
I just hope tomorrow goes a little better than last night did...

So I've been spending hours plotting Becki's birthday surprises with Jess lately. At last we decided that we wanted to have Katie jump out of our huge cake tonight at the "band" party. For days Jess has been trying to talk to Becki's mom about hiding the cake when Becki wasn't home...
But every time she calls, Becki answers. So she called not once, but twice, this morning with a "disguised" voice and asked Becki if she could "please speak to Joanie (Becki's mom)." Unfortunately, she was outside both times. So then Jess called back and got the answering machine.
Her message?
"Hi Joanie, this is Tricia ...wait, no it's not. If you get this message, just erase it." And in the background you can hear Jess' little sister saying, "Why are you pretending to be mom?"
*muah* That's probably not that amusing, but we were laughing hysterically. I don't even know what possessd her to pretend to be her mom...and then not.
But it all worked out, we drove out to Becki's and happened to catch her mom. The cake is safely hidden in the barn & hopefully it will all come together tonight.
And if not, oh well, the story of us trying should be humorous at least.

We'll Go Forward From This Moment is one of the best articles I've read about everything. It just makes you feel so patriotic & proud to be an American.
In other news, I've been home all day since Terra's observing the day of rememberance. To be at home is all I've wanted all week, but now that I can sit here and watch the news coverage for as long as I'd like, I just can't.
It gets more & more depressing every day. I've seen the interview with the CEO who lost almost all of his employees like three times and it still almost brings tears to my eyes...
So anyway, that's why we have a new layout. The 'net provides a nice little escape (from the tragedy and from the english paper I should be writing). I'm hoping this one hangs along a bit longer than the day or so the last one did...

So the Nostradamus quote wasn't even real.
And I'm sick of looking at all the eerie conicidences that people keep finding. So no more from me...
But I do want to add this article from a Canadian newspaper. I'm sure just about everyone's seen it already, but it actually made me feel a little better, so...
"I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name me even one time when someone else raced to the Americans in trouble?"
And I've been listening to God Bless The USA on repeat since last night... It just seems appropriate at this point. It was written for Desert Storm, I believe...

I just ventured into the forums @ h.net for the first time in quite a while. I'm not sure what I went in looking for...maybe just other people's reactions to everything.
And I was really surprised by what I found. I didn't have the usual "Ugh, this is so annoying." reaction. I actually took the time to read through several threads & sort of enjoyed myself.
We're going to "go there" again, too. The anti-Natalie spirit is apparently still quite strong over there, eh? I saw tons of sigs with mentions...and none of them were what I'd call "flattering." But I'd have to call them amusing :X

I'm totally in love with my M2M cd lately. I'd never really listened to much after the fifth or sixth track, but I'm loving tracks 10 & 12 (...even though I haven't the foggiest idea what they're called).
I've been listening to them in the car on the way to school and the thought, "Man, this is actually pretty good." keeps popping into my head. Of course whenever I hear them my initial thought is "They're Hanson girlfriends!"
I don't think they'll ever be just another band in my mind, it'll always be, "Those are the girls who dated Hanson...oh, and they opened the TTA Tour for them, too."
Sort of sad actually...

I got the following quote in my email a couple of times. It's almost too eerie to even think about:
"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, two brothers torn apart by chaos, while the fortress endures the great leader will succumb. The third Big war will begin when the big city is burning on the emergency date." - Nostradamus, 1554
Two brothers...the twin towers. The emergency date...yesterday was 9/11 or 911. Let's hope the third "Big war" doesn't result.
And if you add up yesterday's date (9+11+20+01) you get 41. Pearl Harbor happened in 1941...
I know this is random, but I'm trying *not* to think of all the horrible implications of yesterday's attack.
To quote a sign I saw on my way home, "This is a sad time."

tuesday, september 11
I feel like I should acknowledge everything that's happened today.
There's not much I can say that a million other people haven't already said, but my heart goes out to the families of all the innocent people who were killed.
It still seems a little surreal and almost movie-like. I keep flipping through all the channels, seeing the devastation, seeing how everything's come to a halt...
They're saying that today will go down in history like Pearl Harbor, that this is the worst attack since then... That's just sorta mind-blowing. When we're 85 are we going to be the ones looking back and saying stuff like, "I remember what happened on 9.11.01, I remember where I was when I found out."...?
My college closed early for the first time since I've been there. I couldn't believe it when my physics prof walked in and was like, "Okay, you can go, the college is closing at 3."
