{ Bimbo out-cuted! } I'm sorry Ste, but Igor's dog is cuter than Bimbo. Bimbo: forgive me. Monday, 17 September 2001. 10:45pm.

{ Oh god, not the eternal quest for truth debate again. } Super hyper state of emotion extended. Self-analysis, mope-o-rama, insecurity seem stuck on repeat. I could tell you what's bothering me, but a) I don't really know, b) this is really not the forum.

{ "Wasn't the World Trade Centre on the cover of your book?" } Jay McInerney, Bret Easton Ellis and Jennifer Beals deal with the WTC. Surreal. Saturday, 15 September 2001. 04:12pm.

{ I would like to apologise } for my earlier outburst. Saturday, 15 September 2001. 03:05am.

{ Hello! Welcome to Inane! } Today saw me storm away from a family dinner table, crying and calling my mother et al xenophobic and close-minded. It was a whole number of things, but they all added up. Like my sister saying (about me hair) 'You almost look like a black person, from the back, except you're too skinny'. Like my mother complaining that everything in Miami was bilingual. ('Give us your huddled masses', my ass. As long as they speak unaccented English and enjoy the values of the moral majority). Like my absolute inability to articulate that maybe the WTC thing wasn't just a random act of 'evil', but a very very sad and awful tragedy perpetuated by, oh, say, humanity. I just felt sick that these people are my family, and while I have absolute faith that they don't intend any harm, their conviction that these throwaway remarks are undamaging and don't reflect any underlying xenophobia really, really upsets me.

Forgive me, but I'm young and idealistic, and I'd rather me this way than be signing up to join the U.S. Army because I thought it would do the damndest bit of good.

I can't talk about it any more. It's exhausting.

I like this about me page. Here is my new livejournal userpic. I like it. Also, everyone looks better in high contrast.

{ Some words about the WTC. } From Michael Moore (via Signal Vs. Noise):

What I do know is that all day long I have heard everything about this bin Laden guy except this one fact — WE created the monster known as Osama bin Laden! Where did he go to terrorist school? At the CIA!.

When the Soviet Union occupied Afghanistan, the CIA trained him and his buddies in how to commits acts of terrorism against the Soviet forces. It worked! The Soviets turned and ran. Bin Laden was grateful for what we taught him and thought it might be fun to use those same techniques against us.

We paid and trained and armed a group of terrorists in Nicaragua in the 1980s who killed over 30,000 civilians. That was OUR work. You and me. Thirty thousand murdered civilians and who the hell even remembers!

And via Textism: Bill Gates’ scorched earth stock agency Corbis takes the cake.

And I think old Noamie is copying my friend Stephen.
