ok, so this'll be brief. i'm off to london tonight...there will probably be some little updates, as i'll definitely be at the internet cafe multiple times, and i'll blog if i have extra time after email.

other than that, see you in a little less than two weeks!

gaahhh...too little time, too much stuff to do and say. we leave for london on monday and i have to do so very much before then -- packing lists, making mix cds for the plane, laundry, writing people, setting up a hotmail address to access while we're gone, just generally getting stuff together, etcetera, etcetera.

but what's important right now is that i discuss a) the full monty on sunday, and b) the *nsync concert tuesday night.

alrighty, so yes, we went to see the full monty on sunday. this show just rocks. it just DOES. it makes me smile, it makes me cry, it makes me so damn HAPPY. i plan to go many more times before september. now, obviously, you can't find another full cast that will be as perfect for their roles, or work together as well as the original broadway cast. having said that, though, i must also say that the canadian/tour cast is pretty damn good. chris diamantopoulos as ethan, and danny gurwin as malcolm are just as good as romain and jason. everyone else was excellent, almost as good as their broadway counterparts, especially andrea burns as vicki. the only person i really had a major problem with was rod weber as jerry, who was just too...too...i can't really put my finger on it. he wasn't as honest and heartwarming as patrick [wilson] is, plus he was a little stiff, and lacked chemistry with daniel stewart sherman and bret fox (playing his best friend and son). casting aside, though, seeing this show anytime would definitely always rank up near the top of the list of best theatre experiences.

so...the stage door. now, gill and i were the ONLY ones there. so it was extremely hard to catch everyone we wanted to - we actually only got to talk to four people. however, extremely charming and fantastic they were indeed. danny gurwin is cute, cute, cute. kevin burrows (buddy 'keno' walsh) was fun. chris diamantopoulos is GREAT...lovely and friendly and chatty and funny and yes, i'm gushing, but (insert shameful fangirl squeal here) he's just so fantastic. and canadian! the last person we spoke with was ryan perry. he was in the ensemble, and played the minister (loong story), but he is remarkably entertaining. we chatted with him for quite sometime; apparently, he is quite good friends with romain and jason. a fun, fun lad, indeed.

and now that i've rambled on for entirely too long about theatre geeky stuff and have probably come off as a pretentious theatre twit, i shall change gears.

ta da! tuesday rolls around and i have become a skanky, screaming fourteen year old teenybopper type. (you wish i was theatre-folk name-dropping again, don't you?) no, really, i'm NOT. at all. but i did go to the *nsync concert and enjoy myself immensely. i love me some jc chasez. in fact, i love me a LOT of jc chasez. yes, i'll admit it...i screamed until my throat hurt and emitted a high-pitched shriek at one point which made trevor turn around and look at me wide-eyed. stacy, gill, kara, trev, and i had a spiffing time - and our pictures are great, as we were really very close to the stage indeed. and i'd better stop before this gets out of hand.

i think sleep is in order now, since i've had very very little of that since the weekend. only two more days of work to survive before we leave for two weeks. that will be excellent.

alright, i have to go now.

6.10.2001

i just had one of the best weekends ever. really.

we got up early on saturday and left around 10:00 to pick up katy. we presented her with her birthday present, which included a one time use camera with which to take photos of birthday fun. we drove to north york and parked, then got on the subway to go to eaton's centre for the chantal kreviazuk meet and greet type deal. we waited in line, examining really horrific striped shirts and listening to annoying people talk around us. when it was our turn to meet chantal, we got our pictures with her and discovered that besides insanely rocking as a musician, she is also an extremely sweet person. yay for that! free posters were grabbed, more pictures were taken, and we were on our way.

we shopped for a while, buying too many cds, splashy and fun clothing, and the best and most integral purchase of the day: the dog. a purple felt dog with a bobbing head (intended for the car) to be exact. we decided then and there that he needed a name. he was christened admiral ricardo "ricky" plumtree, and from then on, he was the topic of much discussion. it was decided that the admiral (as he is lovingly referred to now) has an alter-ego, a dj named sir plexalot.

we went for dinner, where we had bruschetta (mmm), lots of beverages (including a sex on the beach for myself), and pizza. well, i had pizza at least. because it was katy's birthday dinner, they brought us a free (huge) three-layer chocolate cake. we couldn't finish it all, so we had it packed into a box that we carried around the rest of the evening. after pictures were taken of us in the restaurant, of the inside of the cake, of the admiral, and of katy's chicken fingers, we headed back to eatons.

the purpose of the trip was to take a picture of the much-talked about shirt, however on our way in, katy found The Straw Hat that she had been looking for for her trip to greece. when we went to purchase it, we were told that we could get a $25 gift certificate by filling out an appliance survey on the fourth floor. so we took five minutes to make up some answers about home appliances and each picked up our certificates. katy got her hat, along with a green sarong, and gill found shiny bracelets. after contemplating getting black fishnets, i decided on large black sunglasses that i find to be quite spiffy indeed.

giddy from receiving things for free, we went to urban outfitters to gawk at all of the lovely room furnishings we couldn't afford, then pried ourselves from the store and walked across the street to massey hall for the chantal concert.

the concert was wonderful and spectacular and lovely. that's all there is to say about that. after waiting at the stage door for far too long (for chantal's husband, raine maida - lead singer for our lady peace, who we had spotted earlier in the audience - since we'd already met chantal) surrounded by a band of obnoxious trendy girls, and watching chris diamontopoulos (of the full monty fame) walk by us in all his prettiness, we got back on the subway. we thought briefly about chasing him down to inform him of his loveliness and to tell him we would be seeing his show on the seventeenth, but decided against it. (raine and chantal never came out, btw.) on the way back to the car, we took several more pictures involving the admiral and his first subway ride.

after a sleepy drive home (involving a stop at a rather sketchy tim hortons for peach juice and coffee) we threw ourselves into bed. we woke up this morning, ate pancakes (thank you, mommy!), took pictures of the admiral eating pancakes, then went to get the photos developed at walmart in our pajamas.

after katy went home, gill and i went to trev's for the afternoon to swim - his pool is absolutely glorious. it was such a warm, summery, sunny day today, and we stayed in there for several hours. then we came home for barbequed food, and i went back to trev's for the evening. we laid on the couch in a mess of blankets and watched various sunday night television until we both reached the point of almost falling asleep...which was lovelier than it sounds...our quality time is always very warm and fuzzy.

so now i am home in the stifling hot computer room. i neeeeed to sleep, clean my room and figure out why the HELL my cd burner is not working. so i must go. i also need a beverage or i may die of thirst. so that is all for now.

well, i chose ryerson. yes i did. the last couple of days have been awfully stressful. each time i thought i knew where to go, doubts started to crawl around in my head. but i think i'm happy with my decision. now i just have to apply for and get accepted to residence and we're all set.

i am currently working on perfectly crafting my sonicnet radio station to suit my tastes. it's going semi-well.

we had a very entertaining weekend indeed. we left good ol' o'ville around 11 and drove down to north york - fun car ride involving lots of coffee and blasting the full monty obc on the stereo. when we reached north york and came to stop lights, other drivers would be playing rap and the like, while gill and i were providing patrick and co. with vocal accompaniment on 'let it go'. fun times!

we took the subway right down town and visited hmv while we waited for stacy. then we met up with her, went to song and script, then walked to the record stores and general shopping vicinity. i acquired quite a few new cds this weekend...i'll have to update the list soon. after the shopping spree, we went for dinner, where we spent several hours inhaling nachos and pasta and pizza and salad and reallly reallly good, but reallly reallly filling desserts.

after dinner, we took the subway up to dupont, where we got off and searched for the tarragon theatre, where we saw anything that moves, starring none other than the lovely and talented tim howar. the show was excellent (and oh so funny!); it was just too bad we waited until the second last performance to go. after the show, we conversed with tim for quite some time, then regan surprisingly showed up, so we conversed with both of them for a little while longer. after wishing tim good luck (he's off to london now), saying goodbye to regan, and a round of hugs, we headed back to the car.

we drove home in torrential rain, listening to seussical, then fell into bed. sunday included donuts (lots of donuts), *nsync videos, broadway on broadway videos, coffee, and the tony awards. don't even get me started on that. marla and the full monty were ROBBED. robbed, i tell you.

now it's back to good old work. on saturday, we have the chantal kreviazuk concert, which is excellent. she is lovely and wonderful and all of those good things. we intend to give katy a fun birthday day, complete with the concert, shopping, fun driving music, and a splashy dinner. next weekend is the full monty, where i'm sure i will have a fantastic time, despite missing patrick and the charmingly perfect broadway cast. the *nsync concert is also soon...

london countdown: 17 days.
