Thursday, January 25, 2001 OK, the new blog is at http://www.lizzamayhem.com. Bookmark it. I am eventually going to see if there's a way for me to combine the two blogs (i.e. transfer the whole thing over), but until then, that is my new blog, and that's the one I'm going to use. *nods* *hugs* everyone, thanks for reading, and I hope you decide to move with me to my new blog!
Wednesday, January 24, 2001 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK, just had to do that. I've SO had it with Blogger.

OK, I think I'm switching to the service that Jenni uses to update her blog; blogger.com was just down, and I think that was just the last straw. It's also been REALLY annoying for the past ten minutes; I couldn't post! I'll be sure to let y'all know when I finally do make the move; for now, I'm still here.

What I wanted to post before was that some lovely soul has developed a spiffy little countdown clock... only 1456 days, 19 hours, 34 minutes and 28 seconds until Tweedle Dubya gets the boot. It's 1456 days, 19 hours, 34 minutes and 28 seconds too late. 27. 26. 25. 24. You get the point. Not soon enough. Yesterday wouldn't be soon enough. Oh, charming. Just charming. Isn't there a better way of transporting oil? I mean, what do they carry it in, Hefty bags? Seems like they're always spilling the damned stuff.

Errrm, yeah. Apparently, if you're a pretty decent rock star, you can manage to have a dinosaur named after you... *chuckles* What if they move to pop stars next? I can just picture it now: Madonnasaurus Conificus. The question remains: is this a compliment, or a horrible, horrible insult?

Have any of you seen the new chip commercial with the Broward County canvassing board? Argh! It's hilarious!

I have a J-O-B interview in an hour! EEK!
This just cracks me up, man. I have to post about it again. Apparently, the White House staff took more than their pencil boxes when they left their offices; someone pried the letter "W" off of dozens of keyboards in the Old Executive Office Building. (CNN) I wonder if they had a Dubya bonfire that night. Maybe they will use them for voodoo... LOL Tuesday, January 23, 2001 Bush is evil. Am I surprised? No.

*giggling* but apparently someone came up with a cute, if unproductive, way of fighting back... OK, it's not letting anyone post to blogvoices... so if you want to respond to a post, visit my contact form.

Monday, January 22, 2001 John Ashcroft keeps saying he will enforce all laws, even ones he doesn't agree with. That bodes well with abortion-rights activists, but maybe Ashcroft has something else on his agenda... maybe abortion rights aren't his main target at all.
What if Ashcroft decides that "all" laws must be enforced -- including some of the nation's most ridiculous sex laws, many of which are targeted at consenting adults acting in the privacy of their own homes? What then? Yes, certain laws are important -- i.e. statuatory rape laws, rape laws, and other laws in which there is a victim. However, many laws are mainly there for the sole purpose of control. Take a look at this and this. This guy has got to be stopped. On a lighter note... some of the more bizarre sex laws... here, here, and here. If these are for real... can you just imagine the government trying to enforce them??? Sunday, January 21, 2001 MAN, the computer lab was hot! The heater is like, under the floor in here or something, because every 20 minutes or so, the floor started vibrating! I swear, I woke up this morning and thought there was an earthquake; I forgot about the heater.
I still have two more hours to teach, but right now I'm on a break; I taught for about 45 minutes this morning. I am so beat. I haven't even done my reading for school. Argh! Saturday, January 20, 2001 OK, this totally rocks... I get to sleep in the computer lab! YAY! I don't have to sleep near a gaggle of giggling children! Woohoo! LOL I'm sleeping on the floor of our "lab," which is actually just a really small room with totally flat carpet, four functioning computers (and a few dead ones), and a mess of jumbled wired plugged into a few surge-protectors. Who cares? At least I'll have peace -- and the quiet (yet comforting) hum of the computers... LOL

"They say goldfish have no memories A bunch of people gathered at the Federal Building on Wilshire Blvd. this morning to protest the inauguration. Love the signs.... "No President Select!" and "Hail to the Thief!" I clapped as we drove by.

Ugh. We no longer have a President. It's a sad, sad day. I accidentally watched some of the inauguration thing; I was just trying to rewind the tape so I could watch Dar on last night's episode of Late Night with Conan O'Brien. I SOOO hope I get her performance of Austin City Limits on tape; I set it, but ever since that episode of Ellen like, four years ago or something, I've been totally paranoid about important things not taping. Totally random info: the last time I was at a dance marathon, the Sarah Storytellers episode premiered on VH-1. I was so paranoid about it not taping right that I set it to tape like, three different times (you know how VH-1 always replays their stuff). *nods* That was before I was even a fumbler! WOW! Look at me now... *grin* almost three years! Wow. I've been a fumbler for almost three years. It sounds so weird. Hey! I'm wearing my fumbler t-shirt (well, one of my NINE... hehehe seven FTees, and two DFS shirts... LOL). Ugh! I have to SLEEP here tonight! *sigh* oh well. I'll read Harry Potter. *nods* Book #4. LOL At least I have SOMETHING in common with the kids... we did a trivia session during one of the breaks, and I got bored with the Jewish questions, so I asked them for the name of Harry's owl. They went *nuts*; almost every single one of them knew. Who says kids don't read?

Actually, I think it's pretty awesome that these kids read the Harry Potter books; have you SEEN the fourth one? It's over 700 pages long! Eesh. I'm at the temple right now; the kids are doing a 24-hour Israeli folk-dance marathon, and I had to teach for a few hours today (and I've gotta teach for a few hours tomorrow morning, too). Argh. I'm SOOOO exhausted! Anywho, for the rest of the night they are playing contemporary music, so I figured this would be a good time to get the HELL OUTTA THERE! hehehe I don't think I could take the teenybopper crap. UGH.
Had my first copy-editing workshop this morning... yeah, I went to school on a Saturday. Call me a masochist (just not to my face, ok?). I wish I could've had a birthday party with my online friends. How fun would that have been? *grin* hehe Jenni and Laure, we still need to have a voice-chat. *nods* as soon as that poor Vaio gets fixed... *sob* how's it holding up? Thursday, January 18, 2001 I read an article about how in order to compete with "Survivor," NBC is going to extend "Friends" to 40 minutes during February and air new SNL sketches in order to fill the extra 20 minutes. I don't watch "Survivor" anyways, so... cool. LOL

Ugh, Saturday is the temple's Israeli folk-dance marathon, and my dad so graciously volunteered ME to stay with the kids for the whole 24 hours. I have to go to a newspaper workshop in the morning, though... oops. I'll just miss an hour. I don't want to stay for the whole thing! I wish I could drive...

My post to FTE (since I don't feel like typing it all out again):
"*grin* so I'm in this "LGBT History in American Lit" class, and last week we were supposed to introduce ourselves and tell something interesting about us. I, of course, had to mention the list. So this week, the teacher (grad student actually) brought in some music to demonstrate form (i.e. "what would you be missing out on if you only saw lyrics and didn't hear the music? What about the form of this book?"), and one of the songs he played.... "Mary," from the POSSESSION SINGLE! YAY! I mean, from FTE would have been *good* enough for me, but the possession single? Awesome! :-D It was the piano version. He said he brought music that he loved, so yay! he loves Sarah! :-D After the song, before we started talking about it, I said, "That was a really good birthday present!" and it turns out that someone else in the class had the same birthday. Spiffy. :-) ~Lizza, age 20. LOL
