and they call me strange...
i figured out what i'm doing wrong. i'm not a whore. i need to sleep around more, and then i'll get cool stuff too. for example:
a good friend calls me up ONE HOUR before the first caps-pens game, with an extra ticket. would i like to go? well, duh! so we get there. and i'm suddenly finding myself TEN FEET from the freakin' ice. close enough to see the anger on jagr's face when he sees the sign (more on that in a few).
the game was awesome. the caps won. so they lost their second game, but eh, i didn't get to see that one. but these awesome tickets? well, my friend's roommate got them from some guy he slept with. what is with that?
on second thought, casual sex is a bad thing, kids. even if it does get you neat prizes.
oh, the sign. yeah, so two rows in front of us, this guy had a sign that read: 'jagr is mario's bitch.' and of course, jagr and mario both saw it. multiple times.
did i mention we were right behind the goalie?

well, i got up @ 6 am on friday so i could leave work early so we could drive to philadelphia. left work @ 4... hit philly by 8. that is just SOOO wrong. i was exhausted, pissed (i have NO patience with stupid people on the road making traffic even worse than it already is), and just about ready to hop back in the car and drive on home and pass out on the couch watching much. especially because the opening act needed to be shot, to put us out of our misery.
and then she took the stage, and it was as though the trocadero was built just for her to perform. she sang her whole album, and even the songs i don't like suddenly seemed like musical genius to me. her back up band was just as amazing, each of them standing out in their own way (though the guy playing all the percussion instruments was my fave). she was so tiny up there too, even though we were close enough to see her facial expressions, and the glitter in her eyeshadow, but yet somehow, she took up the whole stage as she danced around and worked the crowd.
'i'm like a bird' was never a big favorite of mine, but the first version they did just blew me away. i was, for possibly the first time in my life, dumbstruck, and totally silent until they finished. maravilhosa, as they say.
for those of you who've seen nelly furtado, you know what i'm talking about. for those of you thinking about, i highly recommend it. she's a true rock star, a true musician, and it was definitely worth it.
the best part? watching the awe on my friend's face as she sat, hypnotized (while all the rest of the us were dancing), during the entire show.
obrigado, nelinha.

i am in love with jason wade (er, is that his name?). is that bad? not only is he adorable, but he has an amazing voice (think eddie meets rob meets brett) and writes great lyrics. plus, i heard some podunk radio station in bfe, pennsylvania play the most amazing acoustic version of 'hanging by a moment' and now i love him even more. not as much as nick, but pretty damn close.
so i was up until 6 am last night. doing what, you ask? NOTHING. we sat around and watched videos on mtv and vh1. not even good ones. well, the fatboy slim video kicks ass, but that's because spike jonze (and christopher walken, lol) is my hero. the daftpunk video makes me cry, and the incubus video is pretty fly, but my favorite by far is the lifehouse vid, because it reminds me of my high school's garage band.
then they played 'the call.' so of course, an hour spent analyzing it, then me, and the final conclusion? someone needs to be checked into a mental hospital, and i got the sneaking suspicion that it's me.
but the best part of the evening? j brought me a bsb fan kit thingy, so now i have a backstreet t-shirt to wear to work AND he agrees with me that that one guy from korn is pretty hot. but why is he allowed to ogle jason and i'm not??

i think i'm blocked. or something. i don't know. but i do know that the idea of writing anything is giving me a headache. i thought maybe redesigning my site and playing with photoshop would help, but it's still not flowing. and you know how annoying it is to have all these thoughts and ideas in your head and you can't freakin' get them out. god, i swear, the next thing i know, i'm going to hear voices telling me to sacrifice my dog. well, not that i have a dog, but yeah. sheesh.

I'M ALIVE! eh, sort of. but we have brett scallions (eh, and the rest of fuel too, i suppose) and his sexy mouth to thank for that (oooh, that's just giving me all sorts of delicious thoughts). the concert kicked ass, and i realized how much i missed just going to a rock concert and getting crazy. not to mention, we were about five feet from the aforementioned mouth (and the sexy little body that goes with) and the stimulation overload was *just* what i needed to turn a bad week into a perfect one. *sigh* damn, that man is WAY too fine.
oh, yeah oleander kicks ass and DAMN, 3 doors down is absolutely amazing live. not many rock stars can do the hard-core-segueway-into-acoustic-genius-and-back-again and still have the crowd totally hooked.
next up: nelly furtado. there are no words to express my excitement.

i'm DYING and my mom's yelling at me for missing work. where's the love?? yeah, yeah, so i'm a drama queen. bite me.
i'm not checking email. i'm not answering the phone. i can't. i can't deal with that right now. if it's important, leave a message on my voicemail.
my one ray of light in this crappy week:
'plane tickets: $1500
game tickets: $140
hoyas defeat cinderella: PRICELESS'
this city is going to be INSANE thursday.

You can call them cheesy.
You can say their songs are uninspired, insipid, generic.
You can roll your eyes when they appear on your TV.
You can groan when you hear them on the radio.
You can wish the next album will bomb.
You can hope the fans will grow up.
You can pray they will finally shut up.
You can wonder when their fifteen minutes of fame will finally be over.
You can complain they don't play their own instruments, write their own songs.
You can point out that they're constructed, created, directed, managed, fake.
But don't you dare tell me they're not hardworking, passionate, imaginative, ambitious.
Don't you dare tell me they're not talented.

what a roller coaster of a weekend. it's official, i'm strange (excerpt from an email):
hi, i've been visiting your sight [sic] for a while, and i read your thing about the call. i think maybe you're reading too much into it... i was also wondering, do you like or hate brian? because all your stories are about him, but you're always saying stuff about him that makes me think you don't like him like in your faq... and don't take this the wrong way or anything, but you're kind of strange.
hmmm, well. my question is, does this mean i'm 'off-base' enough for nick?
and my confession of the week:
i've been listening to that soul decision song, 'gravity,' NON STOP for the past few days. *covers head in shame* it's the cheesiest, most adorable (in that roll-your-eyes-gag-yourself kind of way) song ever, and I LOVE IT. so much so that i've got a new story in the works somewhat based on it... starring brian as too-cute-for-words, tongue-tied and completely head-over-heels for the main character (who happens to be female, lol).
oh, and happy birthday to my site, my mom and.... *whispers* brian. adorable bastard.
someone shoot me now.
