ok...so i'm totally lost in this conversation. but i LOVED where the heart is. i read the book before they even considered a movie, and i fell in love with it. i thought the movie was excellent, as well. sorry we don't agree, lys. perhaps if you lived in the south, it would make more sense to you and you could appreciate it more.
blogged by maggie 9/29/2000 12:44:42 AM
wow. that made me amped...where did you find those?
blogged by bethany 9/27/2000 04:04:48 PM
i think you could be right, beth. but i think i know why the slushies and walmart. you see, last thursday nate parker and brent parker and i went to sonic. after getting these monstrous slushies (and really not all that good) he said, "this is going to be a thursday tradition." and in my head i screamed, "nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" so that's where that came from...and walmart, well, i watched part of where the heart is (cough, cough.....egh) and she had a baby in walmart. damn, that was stupid.
here, this (cool people talk) is for each and everyone of you...
"amped"- happily excited or wound up or angry
"ashie"- dry skin, dry elbows.
"beefin'"- can mean fighting as in, "why are you beefin' me?" or it can mean complaining, as in, "she was beefin' on you"
"bomb"- the greatest, as in: "that is the bomb," "she's the bomb" or "it's the bomb"
"cool"- oldie but still in use. newer ways to say it: bangin', blazin', chunky, corny, gnarly, nasty, phat, sassy, sick, sickening, tite, whoa. all of these words can mean cool, good-looking or great in the right context. "that boy is whoa," or "the food is bangin'"
"herocious"- something horrible
"hooked up"- a couple who is dating. of such a couple, it's also said simply: "they go."
"kick game"- make a pass. "last night he was trying to kick game at me."
"my bad"- my mistake
"my boo, my bay"- my boyfriend, or my girlfriend.
"offie"- nerd, someone you don't relate to
"pager"- those annoying little boxes have evolved into meaning annoying people, particularly those who ask you a lot of questions- "he's a pager."
"pigeon"- an ugly girl.
"scrub"- an ugly boy.
"smell"- "i smell you" means "i understand you." as does "i feel you."thank you, kathleen megan. thankyou.
now you too can be whoa with all the phat kids.

here's my analyzation:
--youth group and little jr. highers everywhere: our discussion saturday at panera about just this situation in my youth group
--fake id: wanting to sneak into the 18+ yrs. sunny day show... and your worries of being caught therein should you try it
--sonic slushes: this i'm not too sure of, but i had a sonic slush last night. and lindsey brought em to school for us a couple weeks ago...so um...yeah.
--walmart/bathroom: you have a deep-seeded love for toilets, and feel most secure when they are protecting youthe end. clap, clap.
blogged by bethany 9/26/2000 06:29:47 PM
this is my dream that i had from about two to four (i'm going to say that it's two to four. although, i don't really know, you see) you get to hear about it (lucky you).
so i was on some kind of youthgroupical event...or a youthgroupical trip, rather. and there were a whole bunch of younger kids...like junior highers or something. anyway, somehow i ended up stealing someone's id card...so that i could...buy drinks (slushies and such) at sonic. so i was buying these drinks and a really fat police officer came up to me...
police officer) hello. can i see your id, please?
lys(me)) um. yes.
and then i ran away.
somehow he got ahold of me in a walmart. and i was freaking out because he was trying to get me and arrest me for buying...slushies. so i ran into the bathroom and i flushed the id down the toilet along with my id. that way...it'd somehow be better. and then i thought, "ah, i could take my library card and pretend that i thought that was my id. then he would have no proof!" and so i did. andi got back into the van. we drove away. and i won.SEE IF THEY CAN EVER CATCH ME AGAIN FOR BUYING SONIC SLUSHIES!!!!
(i didn't really say it had to have a point)

hey.
i'm talking on the phone and blogging. how cool am i? pretty dang cool. i know, i know.
well...not very. oh well.
i went car shopping today. it was not at all fun. i have this allergy thing with cigarrete smoke...i get a headache right away. it sucks. and i got in a car and got a headache right away...bah.
no luck for alyssa and her car. sigh.
i dont really have much to say other than i am tired and i have to go to bed.
blogged by lys 9/18/2000 10:20:19 PM
of course i can't live a moment without my alyssa. what a silly question. i was, of course, explicity implying that very fact by asking, 'where's lys?'. i'm so glad you noticed.bah.
and does it really take five minutes to say 'every day in every way i am getting better and better?' you'd have to say it an awful lot of times.
blogged by bethany 9/18/2000 09:17:56 PM
well, gals. what's up? how 'bout you two slacker bloggers blog a bit and tell me what's up in lincoln...what's up in your life...what's down in your life...what's going on. looking forward to it.
blogged by maggie 9/17/2000 10:36:30 PM
jump out of bed as soon as you hear the alarm clock!! you may also find it useful spending five minutes each morning saying to yourself: "every day in every wayi am getting better and better." perhaps it is a good idea to start a new day with the right frame ofmind.eh?eh?
blogged by lys 9/10/2000 11:03:41 PM
lys, you aren't going to get the mafia to kill me, are you?i've seen drop dead gorgeous...it wasn't very funny. except they all had minnesotan accents.
blogged by bethany 9/9/2000 03:30:51 PM
man. i don't know how to respond to that. i'm extremely tired, and can only think of the 17 minutes i must wait for my clothes to finish drying. but...let's see. mobs. um...check out the movie drop dead gorgeous, and you'll get an overview of my mob/knocking off opinions.
blogged by maggie 9/9/2000 12:03:26 AM
discussion time, i think. i think, discussion time.so when you're in the market of looking for a mob to "knock off" the competition. who would you go to? and why? who wouldn't you go to? and why not?
and also: would you shake hands with the devil along witht the mob? and why? or why not?

happy now?? dude. i've been rather imblogulent lately. sorry.um...i have random ants in my dorm room. every day or so, i'll see one lonely ant somewhere. crawling on my ceiling. on my foot. on my computer. on my notebook. last week we had thousands of ants. i was eating some chips on my bed (like a bad girl, i know), and next thing i know there are about 672 ants on my bed. that was a nightmare. in the middle of the afternoon. one night (actually about 1:30 am) i was eating a chocolate pop-tart. halfway through, i noticed that 300 ants were crawling ON the pop-tart i had already eaten half of!! it was totally gross...almost lost the pop-tart half i'd already eaten :o) but yeah...we have random ants. how about them ants?

yeah...i don't know what to talk about so...i'm going to talk about much of nothing. today when i was driving home from a drama meeting that was at school the sun was setting. it was beautiful. i had my sunny day real estate music on...they are good...i like them a lot. it made me quite happy. and now i have shared something with the group.
and now for your enjoyment...
"perfect blue buildings"--by the crows, counting.(this won't publish! bah!!!)
"Just down the street from your hotel, baby
I stay at home with my disease
And ain't this position familiar, darling
Well, all monkeys do what they see
Help me stay awake, I'm falling...Down on Virginia and La Loma
Where I got friends who'll care for me
You got an attitude of everything I ever wanted
I got an attitude of need
Help me stay awake, I'm falling...(to chorus)(chorus)Asleep in perfect blue buildings
Beside the green apple sea
Gonna get me a little oblivion, baby
Try to keep myself away from meIt's 4:30 A.M. on a Tuesday
It doesn't get much worse than this
In beds in little rooms in buildings in the middle
of these lives which are completely meaningless
Help me stay awake, I'm falling...(to chorus)I got bones beneath my skin, and mister...
There's a skeleton in every man's house
Beneath the dust and love and sweat that hangs on everybody
There's a dead man trying to get out
Please help me stay awake, I'm falling..."(to chorus)

now that you've recalibrated your screen, i'm sure that you would be able to see the folly of your ways and that the legible head was originally a dark gray and not black.lys, i'm so proud of you for wearing khaki pants amidst the 103 degree heat in tx. way to not give in to the lies of summer...
