Etch-A-Sketch

Been a while. Oh well.
Finished working at Robertson Stephens where I learned that no amount of money is worth spending my early 20's trapped in an office all day. And it seemed so cool in The Thomas Crown Affair. But I wasn't even asked to rob an art museum *once* during my entire time there. How lame.
So now I have to try and figure out what to do with myself when I graduate. Lately I've thought about majoring in computer science and moving to southern california to develop video games and lie on the beach. The downside to this is that california is far, and having a job developing video games would make my life resemble Spyder Games a little more closely than I'm comfortable with. The lie on the beach part sounds pretty sweet, though. Maybe I should go back to my original plan of being a fireman.
I tried to move into my new dorm this monday. I took the train up to New York, only to find out that the elevator in Woodbridge, where I'll be living, is out for repairs until thursday. Rather than try to lug all my crap up six flights of stairs, i decided i'd ask for a reprieve and move in thursday. But my new dorm is pretty big, so I'm pleased. Here is the layout, we're in 7E. It will probably take a week or so before the folks at Obento and Indian Cafe memorize my new address, but other than that, disruption should be minimal.
The past week and a half at home in VA have been nice, getting plenty of good food and exercize and quality time with the family. But other than that, I got nothin.

So I'm working for the man, who has seen fit to give me a beeper, business cards, and roughly 55 hours of work per week. I've only had to come in once on a weekend for an hour, though, so it's not terrible.
This is hilarious. Too bootylicious? Can such a thing exist?
This is some nifty geeky art. I particularly like this one.
Other than that, not too much is new in my world. Hanging out a lot with the folks (1,2) in jersey city, as well as the usual suspects of jeffie, amy, aaron, lauren, julian, mary, and all sorts of entertaining people. And i've discovered a sushi place that delivers to my dorm. Good times.
I leave you with these words from our fearless leader:
"We spent a lot of time talking about Africa, and we should. Africa is a nation that suffers from incredible disease."

Art imitates life : the onion seems especially made for one Harry Layman this week.
Reason #1
Reason #2: News item : That One McDonald's Plate From The '70s: Holy Shit, There It Is. This news item happens to precisely feature a thirty year old McDonald's plate in the posession of one Marilyn Hunter Layman (mom). Wacky.
And now I go to imitate someone hunting for Cherry Garcia, before I begin my nightly game of ghost in the graveyard.

Heya, it's been a while. Just got back from Steve's 21st birthday at Princeton. A good time was had by all.
Classes are winding down, my list of things to care about includes four finals and two papers, the first of which is due april 26th. That's a happily short list, so i'll probably be doing lots of reading on the steps if the sun stays out.
James has started his own blogger. It's very jamie.
Colleen started hers too, but i suspect it may just be in duplication of her two older and geekier brothers. We shall see. But here is a first-hand account of how she spent her saturday night :
"we went to the local WalMart (suprisingly enough a bustle of activity) and sharyl and greg and i pretended to be a white trash family. we put on straw hats and talked with southern accents as we collected things for our "family" in a large granny sac that sharyl found. then we sat out on the patio (aka the furniture section) and watched the world go by."

See? Weirdness is in my genes.

Woof.
I've decided to take this weekend off from debate, so no Wellesley tournament for me. All for the best.
So after some social obligations I had to take care of, I spent last night hanging out with Emily, Jessee, and Matt. We watched Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Excellent movie, although a bit *too* trippy at times. It's definitely no Dude Where's My Car (with Cantonese subtitles, thanks, ben) but enjoyable nonetheless.
I have a job for the summer, I was offered and accepted a job at Robertson Stephens on 50th and Broadway in the City, which means i'll be living at Columbia over the summer.
And my job doesn't start until may 29th and only lasts 10 weeks, so i'll probably be trying to escape to somewhere sunny, either before or afterwards.
Bye

This amused me a good deal, bonsaikitten.com.

Otherwise, stuff is okay. This weekend I go up to yale to chill with people and argue. Next weekend I go to UVA and am gonna hang out with my little brother. He's cool.
Job search stuff is all right. The on campus submit-a-resume-and-cover-letter recruiting system seems not to like me very much, as i've only gotten one interview out of about eight submissions, but it's at a nice and geeky investment bank, Robertson Stephens. We'll see how that goes.
Happy valentine's day

So worlds was miserable. Skiing in vermont was fun. And this amuses me-- more quality reporting from fox news. More when i feel like it.

fools have been here since 9/23/99.
Forgive them, for they know not what they do.
