another persons thoughts - much more composed and well put than mine - on the article at the guardian that gives, perhaps, some insight into 'why.' i've seen several references to this article specifically, and also alot of people/statements urging thought and wisdom in the face of last tuesday.i'm still reeling from all of this. i get up in the morning and turn on the tv and watch cnn while i brush my teeth, afraid. i think about backlashes and escalation, and i am afraid. i think about the loss, and i am afraid, and overwhelmed with sorrow.

this doesn't help.none of us wanted innocent people to be targeted for the tragedy, so i ask and hope that we will make an effort not to do this to others. i don't have the words for the fear and disgust that racial or nationalistic hatred gives me. i hope and pray (yep, me, praying) that as a people and as a nation we can be beyond acts like this.

and for those of you who care what i look like, i whacked all my hair off. i have a picture, but it doesn't really do the haircut justice - all you see is the very front, so it looks shorter than it really is! i'm starting to get over the shock of not recognzing myself in the mirror, and enjoy the instant-ness of the 'put in product, make hair stand up and get messy, go' routine in the a.m.
