WSJ "These Type A Workers Learned to Get a Life" "Mihail Lari, CEO of Electrifier, an e-commerce concern, hadn't had a vacation since 1996...He booked a week in Miami Beach.... To fill blank spaces he searched his past for old passions. Recalling that he had once loved to hang out an cafes and read, he bought some books. Although the books were about the Internet, he admits, he visited a bookstore to get them rather than ordering online.... "New clothes helped him don a new attitude. Mr. Lari replaced his customary khakis and trad-show T-shirt with his first pair of black vinyl pants and a black shirt. 'I had a blast!' he says. 'It made me forget about business models and venture rounds, if only for a few hours.'"
Fourth of July at Berkeley Marina: signs posted ZERO TOLERANCE FOURTH OF JULY. Where did this drug war "zero tolerance" phrase come from? Like overtones of engineering parlance, like precision social engineering...

"Where once it could be said that 'no one knows you're a dog,', a more contemporary caption to the New Yorker cartoon would read, 'On the Internet, everyone knows you're an aging, overweight malamute-retriever mix living in the Southwest, and with a preference for rawhide."

Designed to operate in real-time environments, the Verbind LifeTime™ Behavior Mapping Engine can abstract definitions of customers, compare present behaviors with customer state descriptions, and automatically detect changes. These changes are then analyzed using an advanced decision engine, where querying can be done on the fly and action taken if action is called for. A decision map is produced, which indicates the pre-defined behaviors essential to your business objectives and as customers move about the map, based on behaviors expressed, marketing actions are engaged. The key here is understanding customer changes in behavior as compared to their norm, and having a system in place to react with appropriate responses.
