Lots of driving this past weekend....all worth it though. I had a really good time in Bloomington and Champaign...good people good shows good food. Thanks to everyone involved!

I littered my apartment with cutouts from magazines and photos and twine strung around the ceiling last night. Looks kinda cool, if not a little cluttered. But comfortable and nice....looking for better lights tonight.

Fell asleep to the music of Sigur Ros mixed with the sound of rain falling outside my open window. Slept like a baby.......

I have no life. Seriously.
Got up today at 12:45, ate some pizza, listened to the football game on the radio (Hawks win, yay!!), and now I'm back in the abyss of my workplace. Not getting paid, of course, but what else to do but mess around on the computer and work on this crappy site, the new Modal Snare site (Here's a sneak preview)....that may (hopefully, someday) pay off.
The Psychosomatic show last night was awesome...best house sound they've ever had. Dan's kick drum sounded awesome, bass was full, all the MC's could be heard loud and clear....the perfect mix. They really get into the show when the crowd is good, and the crowd responds really well and gets them more and more pumped up. So by the end of the show, the whole crowd was jumpin' and everybody had a good old time.
Sorry about the Smarties, Scott. Heeheheh

I'm such a hustler...

So, another lazy Friday at work....well, actually the first lazy Friday that we've had in a while. Two people left early, but its still pretty slow. So Ian found this awesome Shockwave pool game at http://www.shockwave.com/sw/content/realpool. We've been playing it all day, and its totally awesome....

Going to see local hip-hopsters Psychosomatic at Gabe's tonight with people from work and the Heceta clan I think....should be fun.

We worked on some new songs and also played some from the really old archives last night at practice....expect something from the first record at our show on THURSDAY SEPT. 13 at THE GREEN ROOM. Teeeheeeheeeheheheeeeheeee.....

Good morning, all....well, late morning anyhow...

Got to work early this morning, but was immediately swamped with calls and techy email stuff...so it goes these days. Getting tired of the typical work-week, not wanting to worry about money (having to...I absolutely hate it), wanting to worry about other stuff...you know how it goes. enough complaining.

Alto Heceta is working on some new songs...Very exciting, sorta different but at the same time not quite leaving the Heceta sound. Think Swervedriver, Guided by Voices, Radiohead all added to the overall sound...maybe that's kind of close. We've got one tune pretty much hashed out...its a big, syncopated, lead-guitar lovin', fat chorus, booty shakin', bass-thumpin', ever changing, Adam-playing-Rhodes-a-little rawk song. I'm pretty pumped about it. Another tune is kind of half-done, with a lot of picky, hammer-on pull-off guitar stuff on my part. Dino plays a lot of delay and feedback guitar, and there's some freaky interplay between Matt and Tim sometimes. A big, anthemetic...well, anthem I suppose. Notice the importance of the word BIG in the last two descriptions....

The Faint is playing at the Green Room tonight. I'll probably swing down there to see them...hoping all the Racecar Radar boys will get there in time for the show after their rehearsal with possible new drummer, etc....Should be fun!

See ya!

Oops, forgot my top five:

Whew....a few free minutes...
Hi everybody! Hope everyone is feeling a little more relaxed than me right now. We've been swamped at work, and with two people on vacation and other people leaving early and stuff, Dan, Joe, and I have been bearing the weight of the world on our shoulders...definitely NOT something that I want to do every day. In the off-time I've been working on Modal Snare stuff...particularly the Critical Gopher site. New pics and sounds from their new record....definitely worth checking out. They sound a bit like Shiner meets Mr. Bungle...cool stuff.

The new Ghosts and Vodka record is the best thing I've heard in a year. Seriously. It's good to finally have an instrumental band to listen to who makes colorful, upbeat, and bright music...well, there's Pele too. Sorry guys, didn't mean to forget you... Anyway, gnv (the cool acronymn for big hipsters like me...hehe) also has one of the baddest (as in goodest, Michael Jackson bad) websites I've seen in a while.

HAPPY B-DAY IAN MEYER!!!!
