Travelblog. During Aug/Sept last year, I travelled from Australia to the UK. These pages contain some of the highlights of my trip, as well as things which are prolly of no interest to anyone else but me! : ) But I had a ball ... and so it pleases me to recall and record some of these moments when I get the chance To keep the page a manageable size, many of the posts are stored in the archives. archived travelnotes |

F.O.N.C.
(Note: I held off publishing this account of my 'fonc'ish' experiences because I was looking in my 'archives' for an original picture of 'the nunhead angel' .. but somehow I couldn't find it and well, I decided this evening to post this now anyhow and perhaps edit it at a later stage, complete with pics of then - and now : ) I was thinking today about F.O.N.C. You don't know about FONC?? LOL, let me enlighten you : )) Some time ago now, infact several years ago I think?? Denis and Pam visited the Nunhead Cemetery. Little did I know, that a few years later I would tread the pathways of the Nunhead Cemetery, and indeed a short while later, become an honorary member(!) of F.O.N.C. (Friends of Nunhead Cemetery) One of the pictures which Denis had sent me all those years before was of 'The Nunhead Angel' . A grave that was totally decrepit, but strangely beautiful as well ... He sent the picture he'd taken on that day, to a few friends online, including 'Belladora' who altered the picture and wrote some poetry to accompany the image on this webpage. So hey ... I've been neglecting my travelblog. Well just now, something wonderful came to mind that I thought to share here in my blog : )
I had some beautiful meals whilst I was in the UK ... I was treated to a taste - literally lol, at some of the finest restaurants in the country! Yet one of the most memorable meals I ate whilst overseas was infact home made : ) That night we had an omelette ... no ordinary omelette mind you - but a 'truffle omelette' ... LOL here was me just saying (in my own special way) how I really wasn't sure why a fungus was considered sooooo delectable, and precious hehe ... little did I know I was about to consume one such precious fungus! : )) How did it all come together? Well, cooking is a little bit like magic I've discovered ... the less you know about it - the more you'll enjoy it!! : ))) A toast was had at some stage that evening and also on many others, to our chef deluxe, to good friends and 'to life' (l'chaim!) ...and dinner was served : ))
Bon Appetit! Sunday, December 03, 2000
I met lots of ppl on this trip.
Even made some new friends who (remarkably lol) I met first in real! then online haha that was very strange LOL So it came to pass, that through mutual friends, I met with Maria and Joe : ) (officially known online as Lightmare & Thunderchild) They met up with Denis, Pam and me at 'The Malthouse' in Somerset, which Denis and Pam had rented for a week.
The time at the Malthouse was totally magnificent to say the least!! I don't think I could adequately explain just how much I loved it at the Malthouse in Somerset ... the countryside in the area was just so pretty - and whilst we were in the area we enjoyed (mostly lol) some very long, beautiful walks : ) |
