I'm not going to comment on the bombing beyond saying the following. I may comment further later but I just don't think that I can add to what anyone else has to say right now.
1) Someone should have capped U.B.L. a long time ago whether he's behind this or not. It would have made a statement and to quote Jane's Addiction, "Some people should die, that's just unconscious knowledge."
2) I'm just glad it wasn't a nuke.
3) My condolences to everyone who lost someone or who is injured.
4) I was REALLY glad to hear that at least one of the planes had people who fought back. I can not even fucking imagine not fighting back in that situation. They only had plastic knives and box cutters and I for one would want to do my damnedest to take at least one of them out with me. If the people on the other planes had taken a little initiative they might have saved thousands of lives. I just don't understand that kind of complacency. Don't be offended if you lost someone on one of those planes, I'm sure they were fine people and were very scared... I just can't fathom how they could just sit there... I can't.

Ok, on to lighter subjects.

I got into the DAOC beta. Dear gods I wish AO was this stable! I will refrain from commenting further.

We are getting another new guy at work. I feel better about this one.

Don's mother works at Kmart in rural KY. Yesterday she asked a woman in line what she thought about what had been on the news. The woman replied, "I'm not surprised by anything that goes on in them foreign countries." Bewildered — and that is the biggest word I have ever used to describe Don's mother — she asked the woman if she knew what the pentagon was, and the woman simply replied... "no".

Well, no one is really surprised. Aparently the new guy is going around saying shit about people. We had suspected this but it was confirmed. I have no idea if he is saying shit about me or not — I don't really care either, but it's heightening the stress around here and I really don't need that, no one does. My 'bad feeling' about him seems to be panning out nicely. Yay.

In other news I've been playing EQ a bit more, and finally got AO running well on my comp. I have trouble zoning, but at least I am not crashing every 30 seconds like I was. It seems to be the linksys that AO didn't like. Hopefully I will get in a bit more play time this week.

I don't even know where to start. It's amazing how in just a few weeks a tedious but tolerable job has gotten to the point where I can't get out of here fast enough. The last 3 weeks have been sheer hell, and I'm trying to trace it back to one single thing and I can't. It's like all of a sudden this place totally changed. I think it has to do with the restructuring of the whole company that has taken place. Everyone has been on edge, everything has been push-push-push and it all culminated in another round of layoffs yesterday. They got rid of a lot of people who did a lot for the company, and a few that were the only ones who knew how to do their particular job. People who were previously alright have suddenly turned into complete assholes and others who were completely irritating have become intolerable. You could cut the stress in the air with a chainsaw. I'm sure most people's blood is almost pure cortisol at this point... I know mine is.

Things been constantly breaking because of the changes in personnel and management which have sparked technical changes that have been causing a new set of fires practically every day. They keep changing the network infrastructure and architecture without really tell us or letting us work out possible consequences. On top of that we have the usual list of issues to deal with and new accounts. It's only going to get worse due to bringing on more and more accounts and the heightened pressure to streamline things... fuck... we are just trying to keep our heads above water.

Personally, I am getting more and more angry and frustrated. The new person is getting to do things and getting pulled into projects I was told I was going to get at the very beginning, but all that was pretty quickly forgotten about. I don't want to say it, I have been trying to NOT think this way but I'm starting to think that my female co-workers are right — there is a definite gender bias in this company. I know as long as I am in the south I'm going to have to deal with this, but it really makes me just not give a flying fuck about this company or my job.

The first warning sign that it may be time to move on had been nightmares about work so vivid that when I wake up from them I want to cry because I realize that I have to go back to work right then. It's like never actually leaving your job. I think the only way I'm going to make it through this is to totally change my approach to things here. It's time to become my completely anti-social, just do what is necessary to get by quiet withdrawn self. I think I'm even going to take all my personal stuff home. Now I remember why I never put up personal things in my cube before — I don't want to be here, so I don't want any of me here.

I fucking hate this place. When am I going to find a job I can tolerate that doesn't totally change on me? I really don't think that's too much to ask for. I don't expect to be happy all the time at work, I just want to not be miserable all the time.

Well, I have had the shittiest week at work which has had a grand finale which is going to pretty much mean I'm looking for a new job.

If you read this regularly you'll probably know by now that I don't really feel this is the right position for me. I really would prefer to work with hardware and networking. I took this job because I knew Bluestar was going under and that I was never going to be getting the promised training. I thought I was going to get to really learn a lot of SQL and Cold Fusion and while I have learned some here, I haven't learned as much because of time constraints and being busy here with other things. I also took it because with Don in school someone had to have something steady... I just hope I can find something else steady before I go nuts.

This week has been a never-ending string of the worst sorts of problems I've had to deal with here and quite possibly the worst week to date, but that isn't what is driving me towards a pit of seething hatred for this place. Ever since I started, day in and day out I have heard my co-workers complain about the management and culture here. Up to now I have done my damnedest to not become super-negative as I am usually wont to do. Well, I got my first personal taste of it and quite frankly I think that's enough.

Right after I started my boss talked about sending me on a trip along with one other person to meet the vendor of our major software. They kept putting it off and putting it off. I have now been here 9 months. This week we get a new guy... and guess who is going on the trip with our team lead next week. Now, I don't necessarily want to go to this dinky place out in BFE — it's the principal of the thing. They also have him working on all this other stuff that my boss was going to get me involved in, but there hasn't been time because I've been to busy setting up new accounts and trying to keep old ones afloat which is all any of us had time to do before this new guy came.

For most of next week I'll be here with only one other person... which is always a pain in the ass. I haven't really gotten the opportunities I feel I was promised at the beginning and which are just being handed over to someone who just got here and I'm feeling royally shafted about now. What's worse is that I now have caught the attitude of my fellow disgruntled workers, which isn't going to make this any easier. I'm not completely dissatisfied with what I'm doing, (except for the fact that I think I'm better suited for another branch of IT), but I am with where I'm doing it.

godfuckingdammit

This past week has been a giant pain in the ass. Work sucks right now... big time. I am super stressed, and I really don't want to be here.

I had fun going out last Friday, but we most likely won't go this week as we have to go to KY to get rid of the big blue truck thing. Joy.

We got the new Chameleons album. I can't really say that I'm disappointed, but I expected it to be totally different from anything they've done before, which could have been a good thing, but except for a few songs I really don't care for it much, sad to say. There is one song, however, that is SO COMPLETELY FUCKING AWFUL that I have told Don NEVER to play it around me or talk about it. In fact, I want a burned copy of the CD with it omitted. That would be the 9th song. What in the holy fucking hell where they thinking when they made this piece of shit? Ok, I'm going to try to not think about it now, as it upsets me that my favourite band could do something so awful.

Last time we went to Kroger — and make no mistake about it, our current Kroger SUCKS — we saw an Elvis impersonator. So, not only does this Kroger not have half the stuff we usually get every week, we have to deal with tons of rednecks AND a fucking Elvis.

Today is proving to be extremely stressful. Not only do we need to finish getting the old place done, but we are short handed at work and I have a lot of personal crap to deal with too. I've had 3 pretty fucked up things thrown at me today, but they are just going to have to wait. I simply don't have the mental or emotional energy to deal with them. I need to focus on getting through this week before I can worry about much of anything beyond work and getting completely out of the old place. There will be no going out, responding to lengthy emails or anything else much till then. Right now June is totally booked up. I need to just somehow make it through and stay focused. I really just want to go home and paint or sew or work on the A&L design... I need to do something creative so much it physically hurts... but I don't have time. No time for anything.

Sore, exhausted and I still have a lot to do... not to mention a bit sunburned — we didn't get everything done Saturday night because we were bailed on and we had to finish getting stuff out of the truck Sunday morning in order to return it on time so we didn't get the boxes at the old place moved Sunday either. I'm not going to go into details, but it's really disappointing when people you would and have done anything for let you down the one time you really needed them.

There is still a lot of stuff at the old place we need to get, I'm probably going to be having to drive out there then back to M'boro every night this week till it gets done since Don has to work till 7. I'm sure if we weren't on the 3rd floor we wouldn't be so tired, but that' a long way to carry even light boxes after doing it for days. I don't know how I'm going to make it through the rest of the week, I really don't. Next weekend we have to haul off the old bed, a huge desk and various and sundry other junk from the old place. I hope it's cooler next weekend, I want to have enough time to clean it up too and just be done with it. Right now it seems like we will never get unpacked and settled in.

The new bed and dresser is bigger than I thought it would be, so getting everything placed in the bedrrom isn't going to be easy. The kitties sure do like being able to hide under the bed though. The curtains I got for the bedroom were too narrow,(25" looks a lot like 52" to a tired dyslexic), so I'm going to have to make some. We have blinds in there now, but it's VERY light in there in the morning which is hurting our ability to sleep, which is bad because we have so little time for it right now.

By the way, I already hate livivng in M'boro. I pass 3 Walgreens on my way to work and NONE of them are open... not to mention the fact the there are 3 times as many feed stores as gas stations. Our Kroger is alright, but I think I'll be shopping at the Harris Teeter near where I work instead because it has more variety and better quality stuff. Going to the Walmart is traumatic too, I thought there were a lot of inbred rednecks at our old Walmart! I still love the flat, but I hate the location of it. I can't wait for Don to graduate so we can get the hell out of there. We should be able to get to a real city, hell... even moving back to Nashville would be better than this if we can get someplace in the Belmont area.

We packed all weekend. I'm really tired and even though we got a lot done, we still have a lot to do. With all the dust and crap we kicked up packing/cleaning I really feel like shit. We only have 3 more nights to pack and I just don't know how we are going to get it all done. We have it all planned out and even if there is some crap left over we have till July 1st to be completely out. We'll need it to get rid of the old bed and some other junk.

I can't wait till July when we are all in and don't have to worry about moving and cleaning and all that nonsense. I think we are going to have a party with some of our local friends in July... not entirely sure when that will be. I have some work to get done on the house first, and then there is the issue of adequate seating... but that will have to wait till we recover financially from the actual move.

I downloaded the Anarchy Online demo, but it won't work on my comp for some reason. I created a character, but I can't go 3 steps without crashing. I actually played Everquest a little this past weekend just because I was so disappointed about AO I think. If I can ever get their contact page up, I'm going to let them know of my woes and see if their tech support can help me. *sniff*

It made a good break from packing... but no more breaks this week. We have too much to do!

I called the apt. complex to confirm our move in date... good to go for Friday. Later this week I will be confirming the Uhaul and bedroom delivery. Equal feelings of dread, excitement and impatience about the move...

At work today some guy was interviewing for the other position. I'm pretty indifferent to him. He was wearing a wierd green suit and was very tall. It would be nice to have the extra warmbody here I guess.

I feel like shit today. I'm pretty sure it's my allergies. I have so much to do, and I don't want to do any of it. We really need to finish packing, we only have a week now to get it done, and I would rather be playing games or sleeping. I haven't lost enthusiasm for moving, if anything I am gaining it, but work has been so stressful this week and I am SO tired when I get home I just don't want to do much.

... and I think I understand why...

I have finally reached the point where I am starting to really dislike my job. Recently we have been bringing on so many new accounts I almost constantly feel overwhelmed. It wasn't bad when it was kind of slow most of the time, but the busier I am the more I realize that I don't really like what I'm doing here. I want to get back into something with more networking and hardware and OS involvement. I don't want to be an Applications Analyst, and I don't really like working with databases very much.

I used to get this 'WOW! COOL!' kind of reaction when I would learn something new at my other IS jobs, here I'm more like 'oh, ok'. I want the 'WOW! COOL!' back! I'm just now starting to feel sort of comfortable with what I'm doing, usually I slip into a new IS position in a few weeks and can run with it. Most technical stuff I soak up like a sponge, but the learning process here has been slow and tedious. I just have to face facts... this job just isn't me.

Perhaps once we get moved I can look for something else, but I'm kind of stuck here now till we get stabilized in M'boro. *sigh* I know that ANY job is going to suck one way or another eventually, I think that epiphany is what has made me last this long here without starting to get restless. I'm afraid that if I don't get back on track with what I really want to be doing I'm going to be stuck screwing around with this crap for the rest of my life.

Last weekend was a mess. We spent most of it packing.

I decided to go with a black velvet and satin bedspread. I got Red moiré curtains for the bedrrom and will hang a black velvet window scarf over those... I'm also going to put a vine of silk roses on the black scarf, I did discover that I grabbed the wrong curtain rod for the bedroom SO I will be having to exchange that today. I hope the curtains I got will be wide enough, I may end up needing sheers to fill them in... we will see.

The living room will be blue and purple accents to black/white/grey. I got purple curtains for the living room. The master bathroom is almost done too, well... sorta. I found these dark purple rose shower hooks and a purple marble shower curtain. I'm just trying to find the rest of the stuff to go with because everything is too modren or too bnrass or too silver or too something. *sigh* I'm waiting to get the stuff for the other bathroom, dining room and kitchen till we get the keys... but I do have it already picked out. I did get some cobalt blue wine glasses for a song at the Homeplace which is going out of business, I'm now looking for a matching candle holder and some other stuff to go with.

I made a version of our apartment in the Sims. The dimensions weren't exact, but were pretty damn close. The dining room, kitchen and living room seemed to work but I'm still not sure about the bedroom.

We still have a lot to do, and one minute I think we'll be done early and the next I'm not sure we'll ever be done at all! I am so ready to have this all done with.

Over the weekend we decided that we are going to get a camera and film some instructional stuff for Antimony & Lace. I'm going to try and sell 2 of our computers and I think we may buy an IMac for the kitchen to do the editing on once we get finances straight.

I STILL can't find a suitable bedspread or curtains or fabric to make my own even. This is getting very frustrating. I can find things that are close, but not quite right for one reason or another.

This red one is ok, but 1) I want a proper bedspread and not a comforter 2) I would need the
gold to be black.

This one needs to be red rather than taupe.

I can't believe how impossible this is turning out to be! ARGH!

god fucking damnit

I pulled my shoulder Saturday night so I got to spend most if the long weekend in bed. I am in a particularly foul mood today as a result. It still hurts a lot and no one else is here. If I'm stuck here by myself again after getting ditched Friday and after being in bed all weekend I am going to be kicking some ass. I am in no condition to deal with this bullshit by myself today.

We went to Ren faire Saturday which was fun, I wore a not quite finished outfit, but it still looked good... it was just being help together by safety pins for the most part. I was going to go again Sunday, but I woke up with the shoulder issue which also kept me from going out Sunday night or getting any packing done yesterday. If it doesn't get completely well soon I don't know how we are going to pack to move. Even typing hurts, and I have so much to do.

Last night we went to see Eric Clapton. I have to admit, I didn't really want to go but my dad was really excited about it and Don seemed to want to go... so I went. The opening band was fronted by a guy I had seen earlier this year playing guitar with Roger Waters. No, I can't remember his name, something something II and smokestack, but it really doesn't matter because he was ultra boring. I'm not saying he sucked, but his performance was rather less than interesting, generic bluesy nouveau classic rock. Who cares? It's been done, do something else. Technically they were very good, I just really couldn't give a rat's ass because it was all derivative, totally lacking in originality, 'Jimi Hendrix, much?' kinda stuff. *yawn*

I actually enjoyed Clapton more than I thought I would. I am heartily sick of Wonderful Tonight, but was very happy he played at least one Cream song. I'm not burned out on Cream like I am most everything else he has done. Too much time spent listening to classic rock stations I suppose.

One thing about the venue (Gaylord Entertainment centre), it sucked. The seats were tiny and there were cup holders on the back of the seats so that the fat chick in the seat in front of you could casually dip her over permed hair into your beer... mmm... aquanet. It's a hockey arena and it's not very comfortable. I felt like I was on a Guatemalan bus, luckily I had the aisle seat so I could kinda turn sideways. For the love of peace, I'm a 5'2" woman if there isn't enough leg room for me then how the hell do they expect to cram a bunch of endomorphic hockey geeks in there?

In other news:

We are going to sign our lease for the new place today... if the office is still open at 4 this afternoon.

Tomorrow we will go to the Ren Faire in Triune, I made a red velvet top this week

Well yesterday I purchased a new bedroom set. I like it, not as much as another one they had, but that one couldn't be delivered till mid July which obviously would not do. For the last few days I have been trying to find a replacement for my old red and black brocade bedspread. It is very old and started to dry rot and is literally falling apart. I need a new one, and who would think something like that would be impossible to find? Well... I fear I might have to try and make one myself... if Timeless Textiles will ever reopen their website so I can get the fabric. I still have the curtains that match the old spread, also in less than pristine condition, but I seriously doubt those will cover the huge bay window in the bedroom. *sigh*

What can you say about a move where one of the Wayans brothers actually has a better performance than then Jeremy Irons? You can say... what the fuck!?! Last night I had the misfortune to watch the D&D movie. Given the choice between watching 'Manos, the Hands of Fate' or the D&D movie again, I would shoot my self in the head... or for lack of firearm eviscerate myself on the nearest garden implement. The only way it was even remotely watchable was by convincing myself that they wanted the really REALLY bad acting to make it more like a real D&D game. This theory was supported by the fact that the 'maker' of this pile of shit actually talks in the nasally voice that I use to mock dweeby losers.

There were 2 redeeming things in the movie. Jeremy Irons's 'evil' black and red velvet outfit (Actually all the velvet outfits were nice), and the empress's black necklace. That's it. Now, what the FUCK was up with the guy in the frosted blue lipstick? If there is anyway to ruin awesome red and black fantasy armour, believe me, frosted light blue lippy is the way to do it? Somebody needed to keep the *cough* make up artist away from the Hot Topic makeup counter. I'm surprised the wood elf ranger chick didn't have trendy little butterfly hair clips. Also, who the hell designed that terry cloth headband... thing... Wayans was wearing? It looked like the bottom half of one of those ear flap or maybe flying nun hats. I don't even know what to say about the Han Solo dresses up as Michael Jackson outfit the 'hero' had on at the end. Either the costume designer has a split personality... one that can design and one that can't... or two separate people made the costumes.

If you haven't yet seen this movie, go see Meet the Feebles instead. You'll still be disgusted, horrified, and feel terribly betrayed... but at least it's somewhat entertaining.

In other news we finally got a place! It's a bit pricer than I wanted, but it's really nice

I had two pretty whacked dreams last night.

The first one started out as the usual having to go back to high School because you needed to take one more class. I then got fed up with that and walked to this giant Ren Faire. I was wearing an old black and green dress I had made years ago for an SCA event. While at the faire I found this georgeous black leather bodice. I tried it on and it fit perfectly. The guy who made it thought it looked so good on me he sold it to me for 1$. I then had to go to dinner with a bunch of people from work. I was a little late so my boss ordered for me, and it turned out to be exactly what I had wanted. When I left my car was there but it kept switching back and forth between being my current car and the old Tracker. Eventually it wouldn't stay started or it would only go like 5 miles an hour. Anyway, I woke up, petted Pinkbat who was lying next to me, and then went back to sleep.

The next dream started I was sort iof watching a movie on tv, and eventually I was inside the 'movie' watching it and sometimes being part of it. Basically Prince... yes the musician... was the antichrist. Aparently he had successfully won the final war and had taken over. He was sending certian minions to different places, often different planets. One he turned into something aparently hard and tough enough to withstand being on the surface of the sun. He looked like a distorted granite statue, but could still move. He also would send women for this guy, but they weren't make strong enough because he wanted to retain their shape for the guy on the sun. They would disappear as soon as he was finished with them. It was, to say the least, a bit disturbing.

People were also sent to the center of the moon. They were turned into statues with more of their original shape, walking around, and I think this is where the sun guy's women were coming from. Everything on earth was very dark, but technology was advancing at an amazing rate. Prince was looking for someone to have children with, as he needed stronger minions to help him rule. Then it all became like I was watching a movie in my grandmother's living room again. My father was making soup out of chicken poo, which he assured me was good. I woke up... rather confused... at that point.

I went to get a cheese nammich at Sonic for lunch today and on the way back there were 3 buzzards eatting... something... in the median. They were so nifty I had to drive around the block to see them again. I ended up in the left turn lane with my hazard lights on just watching them for a while. I got honked at by a few people... but I don't care. They were so cute fighting over the dead thing and hopping around. I seemed to be making one of them really nervous, one was curious about me and the other just sort of ignored me. People back at the office think that's just gross, but they have to eat too and I don't get to see large birds like that everyday. Besides, it made me happy to watch them!

Well, I think I'm just going to shoot myself in the head and get it over with.

We didn't get that other place and so spent all Saturday, starting pretty early in the morning, looking for another place. We found a few that would be fine... one that we applied for. After that we were helping Travis move out of his place to a temp. place to stay till midnight. I spent most of Sunday waiting for him to call so I could go help more... Don had to study for his last 2 finals today. I had no fun this weekend and I feel like absolute shit due to allergies stirred up by being outside all day/night Saturday.

Now I'm at work. I'm on call this week which just fucking sucks because I can't do ANYTHING of any interest because of the 24 hour phone. That means I'm stuck at home when I'm not at work pretty much till this time next week. I have to pack, we gave our notice that we will be moving out by June 30th... so we have no choice but to find a place, and packing is about all I'll be doing this week... except for answering that goddamned motherfucking phone.

I usually don't hate this job... but this week I HATE MY JOB!!!

Well, I still don't know if we got the place we went to look at Friday. I'm not holding my breath though. It was very nice, but it is part of a duplex. I think Don will have problems trying to use the little garage as his studio because of the heat issue in the summer. The kitchen is friggin huge, lots of counter space and nice dark green and blue decor. The bathrooms have nifty green marble looking floors. The rooms are smaller than I had hoped and while Travis will have LOTS of closet space in his room and I would have an ok walk-in in my area the closets in the master bedroom are a little small. I'm not nearly as hoopy on it as Don and Travis are, but if we get it will be fine... if we don't, oh well.

I spent all weekend catching up on laundry and playing Phantasy Star Offline. Got my Force to 75, still haven't touched EQ. I'm a little hesitant to pack much right now because if we don't get this place we'll be where we are for another month at least and the small stack of boxes are already getting in the way. Also if we don't get it Travis may have to make other arrangements, and we'll be looking for a place for just us again which will change the dynamic of the kind of place we are looking for somewhat.

I don't know, I'm just really stressed about the whole moving thing. I know I'm going to hate living in Murfreesboro. Don used to live in Clarksville and so it doesn't really phase him I guess, but I miss living downtown more than I thought I would. I miss my good Kroger and being close to 'stuff'. I also don't like the fact that there are going to be even more rednecks in M'boro than I have to deal with now. Don better appreciate me moving out there for him... that's all I have to say about that.

Anyway, packing is going to suck. I really want to get rid of some of my old junk during the move. I just have too much stuff.

Ok, I have been remiss. A lot has happened in the last week and I'm going to try and update here as much as possible.

Last week we moved from the datacenter to corporate. It was hell on a stick. Communication was nonexistent and the people who needed to know stuff were the LAST ones to find out anything. We got the IP addresses 2 days before the move and the external network wasn't even set up correctly. If we had gotten them a month ago, as we were supposed to, we would have had very few problems the night of the move. As it stands we are still ironing out issues and probably will be for quite some time.

So, the night of the move I was at work from 3pm till 3AM Sunday. Everything went aright till about 9:30. We got everything in place and tested with only minor snags, but when it came to trying to get the outside network working... well... we sat here for hours while our external network guy talked to some bloke from Cisco in Australia. They finally sent us home. I was bored out of my mind, nothing to do while we waited. Why didn't I write this then? I DON'T KNOW! Too stressed I guess.

Don and Travis, (Travis is a good friend and future roommate most likely), have been looking for a place in Murfreesboro. It's been a year since we originally decided to move and it looks like we actually might be doing it... if they can find a place. I haven't been all that involved in looking except for being dragged out there for looking at stuff they liked. I had to stay too late last week at work and have been too stressed over the work move, but since I'll be doing most of our packing it'll even out I suppose.

They think they may have found a place... but I'm not holding my breath.

Well, we were looking into buying Don a car for better gas mileage. His Blazer uses too much gas, not to mention the transmission is starting to slip. Well, my Dad found out about this and decided to get me a new car and give Don my old Tracker. I feel really bad about this. I'm 31 and it feels kind of yucky having your father buying you a car... but he has the money and I guess we really needed it. I now have a black Ford Focus ZX3 with power everything, 16" wheels, blah blah blah. I adore it, my only real complaint being that it's gas tank is tiny! Yeah I get great gas mileage BUT I still have to fill up every 2 or 3 days because it only holds about 10 gallons. It has a lot of pickup for a 4 cylinder. I practically melt into the seats they are so comfy and I have never gotten into a strange car and just been comfortable driving it from the word go. It's like meeting someone for the first time and feeling like you've known them all your life... except for the breaks. The Tracker needs new breaks and I'm still adjusting to brakes that work well.

Now we just have to get Don new brakes for the Tracker.

I was getting dressed, half an hour later than I had planned because after Don left this morning Pinkbat came and laid down with me. I had my arms around her and she purred for like an hour laying there... just didn't have the heart to get up till the alarm went off. Anyway, was putting on pants and I heard a big THUMP, then again and again. I went downstairs to see what Bartok had gotten into. Heard thumping and now a constant MAO... MAO.... MAO.... I figured he was locked in a closet or something. I tried every closet and the bathroom downstairs. Then I tried the closet in Don's room... no kitty. I was rather confused. I left the room, and distinctly heard the MAO... MAO.... THUMP... MAO.... from there room. I thought... no way... Don had just shut the window an hour ago and I figured Bartok would have made a fuss earlier... surly. I pulled the blinds and there was one very scared little boy. I was trying to pull the window up, had to pull the desk out, and the top window fell on him. Now he was squished between the screen and the other window and starting to panic. I tried to calm him while pulling the windows up. I was terrified the screen was going to give way and he was going to fall. I finally got the lower window up, then the top one up enough to let him out. Propped it back up, closed the bottom one.

He was downstairs eatting, I petted him because he looked all sad and small... but of course while I was finishing getting ready he walked back into Don's room. I said 'you better NOT be going for that window again', and he ran back downstairs. Idiot.

I admit it, I feel bad. I just can't play EQ much this week and I feel guilty for having accepted a position as a guild officer. *sigh* I have so much stuff I have let slide recently for the game and I just can't let it go any longer. My recent frustration with it has made me realize alot of things IRL I have negelected and I am having to work on those right now. I know everyone is going to be mid 50's by the time I really get back on, but I just can't play as much this week.

I have a lot things I have to clean up that I have been avoiding. My sites need work, but there are other things as well I need to catch up on.

Wednesday sucked. I was the only one in my department at work and of course all hell broke loose.

Yesterday sucked too... One of the others called in sick, and the senior person was rather late. Gave me a good scare, I honestly thought I was going to be the only one there again. Then my website goes down... and is still down! I just went through all this trouble to get the god damned thing moved to a new 'better' hosting service and now I can't even get the services main page up. What the fuck?!?!

I am so angry about this I could fucking scream.

Last night I dreamt about travelling. I know I miss it, I haven't been anywhere is so long... Atlanta does not really count. I think I need some sort of change. Lately I've gotten into quite a rut and I need to get out of it before the inevitable Spring depression sets in. I know most people get depressed around winter, but Spring brings allergies and hot weather which are two things I can't stand. I'm just not built for this climate, I must be a genetic throwback to my Celtic ancestors because I need misty cool weather in order to thrive.

Anyway. My work situation is a bit dodgy. This company has a real bad habit of literally firing people for no reason and with very little notice. The benefits suck, and the management seems to know very little about keeping their employees happy. There is also rampant discrimination against female types in IS. So far I haven't really seen any of this directed at me personally, that may of course change. On the upside they do give excellent severance packages. There is a lot going on at work what with the possible impending move and this big push we are having to document everything. I want to be able to stay here for at least a year because I am learning a lot and I'm not quite to the point of tearing my hair out, but I need to make sure I'm ready in case something untoward happens.

I need to get my flat cleaned up and start getting rid of stuff I don't need. I just simply have too much crap. I want us to be able to finally be able to move to m'boro so Don can be close to school. It's just a matter of trying to get stuff in order financially and materially. I hate our neighbours and I'm starting to feel the walls close in on me at home. I need my own work room like Don has because it's not fair to either of us me having all my stuff in the bedroom.

Other things I need to do is exercise more, I know it would help my energy level, and start painting again. I got overwhelmed last year with doing too much. I lost my mind and took on projects I had no business taking on. I think I've learned from that and I'm going to try and take things in smaller chunks. I know I'm not going to get the websites fixed and running in a week or less as much as I would like to. I have to accept that and deal with it... and the nagging email.

My gaming life has gotten busy since we started playing Phantasy Star Online with our friend Travis. I have to split up my time between that and EQ. As I said before EQ is getting frustrating. I'm finding more and more that I feel useless as my Druid character. I can't heal all that well and other classes do things better than I do. Not being able to find some key spells that would make me more useful is also very frustrating. I died twice last night and was almost hoping that we couldn't get my corpse back so I would have an excuse to quit. My guild friends are passing me by rapidly and I have little motivation for making higher levels at this point. I feel like a johnny-come-lately to Everquest and really want to get in on Anarchy Online as soon as it comes out so I can make the most of it.

I can dream of one day seeing my MMORPG world come to life... till then I will make do.

Yes, DNS is fixed! Now to the task of getting things updated. It's going to take a while to get A&L sorted out. I have a new design in mind for it, but I still have to get the PhP issues sorted out before I can go live with the new site. I have so many new images for the gallery and links... on man, I have about a zillion more links to add. I can't even think about doing new projects just now. I may go ahead and do the contest for new DIY projects if I can get organized enough.

I'm getting very frustrated with Everquest. I wish Anarchy Online would come out.

i think i've reached that point where giving up and going on are both the same dead end to me

I dreamt about a lot of strange things last night. The one that sticks in my mind the most was about receiving a gift from Don. It should have been happy but the whole thing was just wierd. I don't know... I really don't want to think about it.

There's a bullet hole in the snack mancine at work, this place has now been broken into teicw and had the generators stolen from out back once. We are supposed to me moving to another location soon, I just find it odd that durniong both break ins nothing was stolen.

I am extremly frustrated with trying to move my pages. It has been several days and they still can't get my password straightened out. I'm starting to regret initiating the move. I really want the php access, but I can't get DNS moved till I can upload my files and I can't cancel my old service till DNS has switched. If they don't get it stratghtened out soon I may have to ask for a refund and look elsewhere. I don't want to have to do that, but I will if necessary.

Ok, well looks like I'm going to be changing hosting services. I found one that will be about the same price but offer php which is going to make a big difference in my ability to update and such. It'll be a while before A&L is back up to snuff, because I'm going to redo the entire site to use the new stuff. I've done some coldfusion, but php is a bit new to me still. Setting it up is going to be a bit of a challenge but once I get it done I have something loverly for the resume... not to mention a new look and feel to the site!

I thought I'd post a quick overview of exactly what it is I do at work... since I've been updating more I figure I might mention something that would make more sense with this in the record.

We have doctor's dictate medical records for patients into computers here from clinics all over the country and Canada. Then those voice jobs are doled out to MT's (medical transcriptionists) all over the country. The voice jobs are tied into 2 HUGE databases which get filled up with the transcribed documents which then get printed from here to the clinics all over the country.

I'm on the team that takes care of the databases, backend machines, middle wear, and some of the front end stuff on the MT's computers at their houses. There is a Help Desk for most of the front end, and a team that takes care of the voice and another that takes care of HL7 which contains patient info uploaded to us and downloaded to the clinics. Nobody wants to work with any other team, (lots of 'that's not my job' and 'why don't you figure it out') most of the time and we get a lot of crap dumped on us because we take care of the middle wear that ties all the different processes together. In a nutshell, we have to make a lot of stuff that was never meant to work together... work together.

I do a lot of troubleshooting on different things, work with the database and am learing a lot of SQL and some Cold Fusion. Ocassionally I have to do some phone support which I DESPISE. The people we deal with out in the field are either bitchy women that work in the clinics... and working with doctor's will make you bitchy becasue they are all really demanding;or the MT's who work out of their homes and have 0 or less computer knowledge.

I like doing the troubleshooting and researching problems... I hate the calling people.

I have a pager and a cell phone and I've been getting calls from people at all hours who aren't even supposed to be calling. Eventually I just turned the damn things off. This weekend is really gonna suck because I will have to answer all the calls, or call other people to answer them. When I'm not at work I just want to to NOT be at work. I can't really do anything because I get interupted.

This is not going to be a fun week. I'm supposed to be on call but I can't get the pager and other crap I need to do this. I was hoping to go to the other office at lunch (and stop for sushi on the way) at lunch time... but I haven't heard from anyone about it yet.

I barely played any EQ this past weekend, I mostly played Phantasy Star Offline. When I did play I mostly played my cleric Maalice and when I did play Aveenia it was to get money or stuff for Maalice.

Saturday night my father took Don and I out to dinner at a rather expensive place called Midtown Cafe. It's the best expensive restaurant I've been to in Nashville. I Highly recommend the Cajun pasta, though everything I tried there was really good.

Oh... I wish SOMEONE would email so I could find out what's going on.

This morning while getting ready for work, I heard a chirping noise. Looked back in the bedroom and a bird had gotten into the room through a gap between the AC and the window. He was caught in the curtain, but when I went to try and get him to go back outside he got loose in the room. Needless to say both of my cats thought this was really cool. I had to get them out of the room while keeping the bird in. He flew into the closet, and I eventually found him and got him out, but I was rather late to work in the process.

After I got to work, everything had pretty much hit the fan. My boss forgot to start up a process last night after making changes to one machine and one of the other machines is just acting crazy. Going to have a looooong day I can tell.

I am not having a good week... already. Don's car is broken so getting me to work and him to school is going to be a nightmare till it's fixed. I don't want to think about it.

Last weekend we went up to visit Don's friends in Bowling Green. Had a fine time till the extras started showing up. It never ceases to amaze me how some people you like will attract people you can't stand.

Also heard of what was quite possibly the most offensive comment ever. A person who shall remain nameless was in the process of a break up with someone else who shall also remain nameless. Keep in mind this is here-say, but the reported comment was something to the effect of, 'If I just wanted sex I would go down to the home and hire an autistic girl to rock back and forth on my dick.' That is just so rude on so many levels... I don't know whether to be shocked, offended or amused.

I had 2 really disturbing dreams last night. I won't go into details because they weren't narrative like many of my dreams, but they were I think a sigh that I am getting stressed... or that something is bothering me. The worst part of either dream was me spilling something while sitting at my desk, looking at the wall outlet and realizing that I could see blue flames roaring inside the wall. I didn't run I just sat there because I felt there was nothing I could do and I didn't really care if I died anyway.

I am terrified of house fires, and what happened to my friends about a year ago did nothing to help that.

Otherwise this week has been very blah. I'm only bothering to write now because I am so bored.

I am not in a good mood. What the HELL ever happened to customer service? Sometime last year FED EX started this new thing where they would just drop a package, lightly tap on the door and sprint. We have specifically called and told them to hold all packages if we aren't home. I called 'customer service' and was told that is the decision of the shipper not the receiver. I'm sorry, but that's just fucking wrong. I have never been told that by them before! Since when did this start?

Now I'm in a war with UPS because they can't seem to get a package delivered to me at work. It was shipped from Oregon, made it to Nashville and then some moron sent it back to Oregon! Now it has been in transit almost a month and UPS will admit they made the mistake but won't do anything about it.

You know what is ruining ecommerce? The shippers! I now will not order things online unless I have absolutely no choice at all because I don't want to deal with these jerks who seem to have lost all concept of customer service. The worst thing is it's like it has happened overnight. I used to have occasional problems, but now it's nothing but abandoned and lost packages and rude cs people. I am livid.

This is going to be a rant about Everquest. If you don't play the game then it won't make any sense to you, and I'm not going to explain it.

/rude Verant

Last night I logged on and got a tell from a guild friend that he had the Mutant fungus camp and that I could have it after he got his weed. SO I go to Guk and I help him out for awhile. He had already been there for like 6 hours camping the damn thing, no weed. It was starting to get really frustrating, I realize the longer it took him to get his the less likely I was to get mine. After a few more hours, he had now been there for like 10, I decided to stay for at least another spawn or two since he decided to log. Well as soon as the Mutant spawned 3 other fucking shrooms also spawned. I kept getting hit with that goddamn clockwork shit, went link dead and eventually got back on with 3 fucking pixels of health left.

At this point I decided to say to hell with this stupid fucking quest. My frog faction is so FUBAR'd I probably couldn't even get back to the camp and I realized that I would probably never be able to finish any of the goddamn bullshit quests in this game. If I can't solo at 40 a quest for 30's then I don't even want to think about the bullshit I'd have to go through for PoG or PoS quests. Oh my fucking god. This isn't a 'challenge' this is a fucking nightmare.

This game is supposed to be fun, there is nothing fun about camping shit for hours and hours knowing that if you leave it may be weeks before you get the camp again; nearly dying because a bunch of green shit gangs up on you and you can't get a goddamn spell off because of repeated stuns. I was this ][ close to quitting last night... right now I'm about this ] [ close. I have new respect for farmers because I don't see how they can stand to repeatedly camp this shit for hours and hours. It's just frustrating and I'm really starting to hate this stupid fucking game.

Verant, your quest design sucks... your graphics look like shit... and I will be glad when another game comes along because I'm about sick of yours.

Wow, I haven't posted anything in 2 months! Time flies...

Ok, I started a new job in late November. It's been alright. I'm not swinging from the ceiling about it but it's not too annoying... except for one of my co workers... and it's more or less paying the bills.

I haven't touched any of my websites in like 6 months now. I don't know why, maybe I was just working on them too long, but I seem to have lost interest in them for now. I've tried to sit down and work on them but I am completely uninspired. I have a few half finished updates for Antimony & Lace, but I just don't have any motivation to work on it. None. I don't know what I expected to 'get' from all my sites, but apparently I'm not getting it anymore. Honestly, I think it's part of a general lack of enthusiasm for anything I've had since I left GE. Everything seems kind of pointless, and I just can't seem to muster the energy to do all the things I once did. The fact that I haven't update this in months is proof of that.

What does the new year hold? I don't know. I could swing the other way and be back to my old action-packed self... or maybe I'll eventually delete my pages, and let my domain fade away. Who can say at this point? All I know is that if I don't find some inspiration to work on them again, they are just going to get more and more out-of-date. To think I once prided myself on keeping them current. *sigh*

I just don't care anymore.

Saturday we almost went out with friends, and ended up just driving around when they crapped out on us. Sunday was Don's b-day, we didn't do much then either. We got a lot of cleaning done, even threw out some old junk we'd been hanging on to for ages reclaiming the use of 2 closets. This morning I couldn't seem to wake up, I still feel groggy. Must...drink... more.... COFFEE! I plan on playing some EQ tonight, will probably solo though, as I need to do laundry too and it's easier to just change into a tree for 20 mins when soloing.

I just want to vent here a bit, because I can. NOW they want us to fill out these damn spreadsheets to account for every minute of everyday at work. This was the last straw and I have emailed the guy who got me contracted here about finding something else. I am not happy, and I have had enough. I took this job to learn about routers, NOT about how to argue with fucking phone companies.

In other news: This is Don's and my 3rd anniversary.

Things have changed since we moved to the new building. Everyone is stressed about the company being bought out, people are taking a lot of time off... which leaves the temps with more work. Not to mention I really REALLY thought they would have moved me up by now. I am sick of the damn phone. I'm sick of talking to the idiotic field techs, I'm sick of being forced to accept bad circuits and I'm sick of having to listen to damn country music, allanis morrisette, and sheryl crow from the person next to me. I'm bored. I haven't learned anything in ages. Basically, I am AGAIN stuck doing something that only takes a minimal of technical knowledge. This isn't what I signed up for. I thought I would have been trained on something else by now, argh!

Okay, yes... the OT is nice but I'm going to loose it at this rate. I haven't had the time or energy to do anything lately. *sigh* I haven't done anything creative in over a month, our Mac is still kaput (no scanner) which means all the projects that need scanning are on hold till further notice. I think one of my email accounts is screwed up, but I'm having trouble tracking down which one it is. If you have been sending me email and haven't gotten a reply... that's why. I need to test all of them out. Even though I'm making decent money, it's all going to bills because Don isn't working... not to mention the leftovers from where I wasn't working for a month. It will be a while till I can get financially stable. We need to move, but again that is going to be put on hold because of money. Moving is expensive, and we just can't afford it right now. Oh... and it looks like Don's car is finally on it's last legs. Doubt the transmission will last another 6 months. Yup, I'm stressed.

If you are wondering when there will be page updates, or I will be on my cam again... please be patient. I have to get the rest of my life straightened out before I can get my virtual one back on track. This whole back to school thing has proven to be a bit more of a burden than I had originally planned.

I came in to work today, and guess what circuit I found having tons of issues... the one for Nothing Studios. Yup, THAT Nothing Studios. It's been sitting around for a while, but I have made it my personal mission to get Trent a good working DSL circuit. I know it's kind of silly, but it's just so neat. I hope I can get this figured out quickly, it's been sitting around long enough and I REALLY want to get this one up. I'm so excited. Other than the general geekiness of learning the routing, this is by far the coolest thing I have yet encountered in this job.

What a way to start Monday. We've been moved to a new building which smells like a new car. NOT a good thing for me. I feel like a displaced cat in that I want to walk around till I figure out where everything is. It's also hot in here, plus I'm sitting right next to the door. Joy. At least I no longer have to pay for parking. I don't really want to be here today. I don't really want to be much of anywhere today, to be honest.

The weekend was a bit hectic. Saturday Don dragged me up to Bowling Green, KY. They have a Hot Topic now, I hear. It's official, Goth is dead.

We were going to see one of his old friend's play guitar in a cave. Earlier that week another old friend of his died in a car wreck and thus Don was reunited with his old college (the first time) buddies. I'm not a big fan of classical guitar. I find it thin and uninteresting, but the Russian and Japanese pieces were sort of interesting. Of course through the whole experience I just wanted to get up and run around the cave. I don't sit still well.

I got to briefly meet many of the people I have been hearing about for 3 years now, and one who I have been talking to for a while myself via the internet and occasional phone call.

Afterwards we went to the house of Don's guitar playing friend and his woman... who apparently went out with Don briefly several years ago. I didn't mind meeting his old friend's, but his friends seem to have collected a sundry of rather obnoxious hangers on who I could very well have done without.

Simply put, there were just too many people at the house including a rotund high school student who acted very much like a high school student, a complete looser in the form of a 'human' barnacle who happened to be one of the people I had heard stories about, not to mention someone who sounded very much like Fran Dresher. *shudder*

It was a Paxil moment, no doubt. Every time Don wandered off for the loo, or whatever, I vowed to kill him. I was extremely uncomfortable being left there alone. The only save for me was having already spoken with Seth on many occasions, I had no trouble talking to him. Otherwise, I really just wanted to go crawl into the backseat of my car and take a nap. The beer I brought did not help. I was bored and felt rather like a fish out of water.

After we left we went to Angela's house. She was having some people from out of town. I got to watch Manos, Hands of Fate on Mysti 3K... again. Joy. Well, at least now Don knows what I was on about with that. It was quite and low key. Everyone was tired, complained about long work hours, allergies, and other commitments as they left before the movie ended.

It was a study in contrasts, the dress of the various groups being the least of differences. The first were obviously younger, in college, and action packed. The second group were older, tired from working, and desperately trying to hang on to their once completely nocturnal lifestyle. Once you finally get a good enough job to afford the really nifty looking clothes, your too damn tired from working 8-5 to go out and wear them. No matter how outside of the mainstream you may take yourself, you are never out of reach of life's little ironies.

I've heard that what I'm doing now is only going to be around for another week... not that THAT is a problem, I'm heartily sick of this particular position. The thing is I don't yet know what they are going to be doing with me, and there is a strong possibility that they may try to put me on phone support. We all know how I feel about that. There are a few nice possibilities I've spotted, now I spend a lot of time hunting again. Things are in flux here, and I'm not sure I like the direction the flow is going.

Bellsouth are a bunch of fucking dicks. They are forcing us to accept bad circuits, and I am BEYOND pissed off. I'm ending up with a bunch of bullshit I KNOW I'm going to have to call trouble in on. The DSL business is completely fucked up, maybe I'll explain exactly why at some point.

You know, it's one thing to test circuits, it's another thing entirely when the whole process is fucked up because of idiots out in the field, and fucking Bell supervisors jerking us around. I did NOT sign up to fucking argue with these dicks all day. I'm supposed to be getting trained and supposed to be learning stuff. Can't do that when the fucks won't work with me. I want OUT of this place. I don't want to turn up circuits anymore, it's too damn stressful. *bangs head on desk* THIS SUCKS!

Feelin' stressed. For multiple reasons... actually. The two biggies are work, (I can't handle many more days like yesterday), and it's bill paying time. Of course the second stress is being compounded by the fact that I couldn't pay rent this past month. Not because of money, but because I have no way of getting in touch with the landlord! He knows this too, I have asked him a few times when I've seen him around for the address and phoine number... he always says his wife will call but she never does. *sigh* SO, I have to factor in rent from last month and upcoming rent both when deciding how much to pay down the CCs. What a mess.

If it's not one thing it's another lately. I really need to somehow get my shit together mentally and time wise or I am never going to be able to get anything done again at home.

I'm still at work. OT is a good thing, especially with Don in school, but I'm really REALLY bored. Why am I here with nothing to do? I'm waiting for a field tech to call me back so I can get rid of this fucking circuit. What a pain in the ass, the dipshits keep claiming that they've been on hold several time for over 30 mins at a time I KNOW we've been slow. *sigh* Fine they want to be like that, I will call more and more till I actually get someone to talk to me. I figure I can either get annoyed and frustrated, or be the bitch I know I can be, and get results one way or the other. If that means calling them every hour on the hour... so be it.

I think they aren't having the CCNA thing again. Guess I'm just going to have to do it on my own after all. No fun.

In other news I have it on good authority that they are going to be trying to keep me, even after having been bought out. The bad side of this is I think the jobs I originally was supposed to be working up to are going to me moved out of state and the only technical jobs that they are going to keep here are customer support. Fuck no. I am NOT going to do helpdesk, no no no. If they offer me enough money I won't quit outright, but you can bet your sweet bippy I'll be looking for something else night and day till I am free.

Last night Don and I went to Spitfire, a speaking tour. Jello Biafra and Lydia Lunch were there along with a few others, who were generally less than interesting, though some were less interesting than others.

During the Q&A my friend Angela went up thank them for teaching her so much she hadn't known about activism and such. In the middle she broke down, and ended up going on stage where everyone hugged her. Angela really is an amazing person. Despite her problems, she really is a good person. It took all my will not to run up and hug her too, but I always feel really protective of her.

After the show someone asked if anyone was going out near the airport. Not really thinking about it I said I was. Turns out I was volunteering to take Lydia Lunch back to her hotel. Certainly an interesting turn of events.

So we got in a little after midnight. I'm tired today, but it was fun. I didn't agree with everything that was said last night.. but it is always fascinating to hear people who are passionate about their causes.

I would just like to thank yahoo for single handedly destroying the entire webring culture. Everyone in every fucking webring that was on webring.org is going to have to redo EVERYTHING. I know I have several rings on my pages and in the past week I have been inundated with email from distraught ring owners about it. Either they are going to have to move their rings to a new service, or accept the creeping disease that is yahoo. In either case the time wasted in fixing this mess is going to be enormous. Even the small rings I have are going to have to be redone. I will most likely scrap both projects because I refuse... REFUSE to move them to yahoo. God this pisses me off.

Metal
(Gary Numan~ 'The Pleasure Principle')

We're in the building
Where they make us grow
And I'm frightened by
The liquid engineers
Like you.

My Mallory heart
Is sure to fail
I could crawl around the floor
Just like I'm real
Like you.

The sound of metal
I want to be
You
I could learn to be a man
Like you.

Plug me in
And turn me on
Oh everything is moving.

I need my treatment
It's tomorrow they send me
Singing 'I am an American'.
Do you?

Picture this
If I could make the change
I'd love to pull the wires from the wall
Did you?

And who are you
And how can I try
Here inside I like metal
Aren't you

All I know
Is no-one dies
I'm still confusing love with need

The CCNA class was canceled because the company bought everyone dinner. Never in my life have I been so voluntarily social as to accept an after work dinner less than 3 months after I arrived. I had a good time, even though it was a bit wierd. Don wasn't with me, and I've only been working at this place for just under 2 weeks... yet it feels like I've been there much longer. Sometimes I think I'm too comfortable there. I'm used to being very standoffish for months before I actually get to the point where I speak my mind at all and feel comfortable enough to more or less be myself around people at a new job. Not only do I feel like I've been there forever, I'm acting like it too. I'm pretty sure my smart mouth is going to get me in trouble eventually, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can. That not quite full year that Tower was fun to work at, it was definately NOT fun for the rest of my tenure there, will always be something I marvel at. There are some really interesting people I work with, very unique even the 'normal' ones. I know it won't last forever. Either my contract will be up and they won't be able to keep me, or I'll become painfully disenchanted. In any case, I will enjoy it while I can. Maybe it's negative to be constantly waiting for the "other shoe to drop", but with all the administrative changes that will come with the company being bought out (the change is inevitable at this point) I know this can't last. I'm learning a lot, getting good stuff for the resume, and actually enjoying it. Gotta say it's definately worth it.

Well, I was moved up and have been pretty darn busy with it. I won't explain exactly what I'm doing as it made Don's eyes glass over, and he's pretty technically inclined. Tonight I start CCNA (Cisco certification) study here. I've already read through a lot of what they are going over, so catching up should be little or no problem. We are also supposed to be going to dinner tonight, not sure if I'm going or not. We'll see. Poor Don will be stuck at home alone, that would make me feel bad.

Nothing else much to report. I plan on getting on the webcam tonight... but we know how THAT usually goes. It all depoends on how late I get home and what I need to do once I get there.

.look mom, no makeup!... URGH! I tried to post yesterday... but got an error and I didn't have the energy to rewrite what I had said.

The job is going alright so far. We are having to do some data entry/grunt work which I hate... but I know it will lead to better things VERY soon, so I don't mind. A week or two of setting up accounts is a small price to pay for getting to eventually be trained on DSL routers! I like the people I'm working with well enough, and there's even a guy there covered in tats and piercings... dare I hope for purple hair some time in my near future? In any case I hope they keep me for a while. I think I'll be able to get some good experience, and the pay is pretty nice, plus if I go perm the new location they will be moving too is VERY conveniently located to Murfreesboro, so we can move.

I've been so worn out this week I haven't really wanted to do much of anything when I get home. So far the most ambitious I have gotten was making dinner tonight... woo hoo. I haven't even felt like being online much. I'm sure that will all change once I get used to the new routine, the weather getting cooler wouldn't hurt either! I have a lot... A LOT I need to do... I just need to find the energy/motivation now!

I had to go thrifting today to buy pants. I don't really wear them that often, but it sucks having a tech job and realizing that you have to crawl under a desk or behind a rack in a skirt. New look for me, but on the upside pants make me more conscious of my weight... so I'll be more likely to eat less and exercise more if I know I'm going to be in them more often than not. I went to several stores on different sides of town... even discovered that my old favorite store had reopened after being hit by a tornado then burning down the next week in 1998.

This weekend I am going to be spending most of my waking hours boning up on TCP/IP, reading about routers, and doing laundry in preparation for Monday. I may be online for a while Saturday night, though... gotta have a break sometime! Hee, maybe I'll be on the webcam studying. More thrilling adventures in my life. Can you stand it? Don't know why someone would want to see me lying in bed with a huge book and 2 cats piles up on me... but you never know. :P

Oh, yes. A word or two about Chrono Cross... if you have a Playstation and like RPGs run out and buy Lunar if you haven't played it, (my all time fave console RPG). If you have played Lunar.... get Chrono Cross! CC is right up there so far with Grandia as my second fave, (no, I don't care for the last few Final Fantasy games... the characters were thin, the combat system too cumbersome, and they just didn't keep my interest). It has an engaging plot, you actually give a damn about the characters from the start, and it graphics are surprising considering the fact that the Playstation is nearly out dated. Decisions you make in game play really do affect story details, what characters are in your party, etc. I really like it... and I'll keep you posted!

Today I went to MTSU with Don and spent the day reading my Cisco book in the lounge. It was weird seeing all the college kids and eavesdropping on their conversations about classes, which teachers were hard graders, which classes were pointless. I've always found it interesting how different social groups will ask and react to similar questions that all students ask differently. I won't bore you with details, but needless to say things haven't changed all that much since I was in school.

Sometimes you just have to take a break, you know? I have so much I need to do, but I've been feeling so overwhelmed lately that I haven't been able to work on any websites, and other then that one new painting I started... I just haven't been feeling very creative. I know it's because I'm really stressed over the job thing... and Don started back to MTSU yesterday. The way things have been lately I really had to get away from the net, other than the usual job hunting stuff, I really haven't been visiting the boards like usual, on my webcam, or even reading email.

Last weekend we went to Don's parents house. I really didn't want to go, but we did anyway. He was trying to set up a computer for them. One of the old ones we had lying around. Then Chrono Cross came in, so we've been playing that a lot. I haven't been playing Everquest much as the EQ servers are either screwed up... or my cable service goes out. Actually yesterday it went out, and I thought my whole system was crashed because of it. I couldn't get online, my sound card wasn't working at all, but now everything seems to be working.

Maybe it was me that was causing problems after the service came back up. I wouldn't be surprised, things like that are not unknown around here. Light bulbs and batteries rarely last anywhere near what they should around me. Every time a light goes out, Don says, "you blew another one!" I have no idea why that happens.... but there it is.

I've still not been able to find a job. I'm either over qualified, or under qualified, the company won't call my headhunter back, or the wind is blowing the wrong direction that week. Maybe I've been cursed? Maybe my stars are in a bad alignment... at least that's my mother's theory. Then again, that's always my mother's theory. One reason why I have been avoiding my IRL and net friends is I'm tired of making up excuses as to why I don't have a job yet. The simple truth is I don't know why. It bothers me though. Makes me wonder why I have put a lot of time and effort into learning all this crap, and the best thing I seem to be able to get is an offer for a god damn help desk job. I've done that, shouldn't I be able to move on now? I don't think I can handle a pure phone support job, after a while answering the phone and knowing there is going to be yet another stupid question from an complete moron who isn't capable of understanding let alone following simple directions... it makes the pit of my stomach fall out. I get to the point where the phone rings and I panic. Why can't I get something better than this? It's the kind of job they give people with no experience... I HAVE 2 FUCKING YEARS OF EXPERIENCE!

I don't know what I'm going to do. Don is no longer working... and we are going to be in big trouble if I don't find something soon. This sucks. Oh and I banged my knee up very badly so, I can't work out either... just keeps getting better and better...

EQ is down again today. The thing is I didn't see the announcement for the "scheduled downtime" listed an hour ago, no one else seemed to know about it... yet all of a sudden there is a message claiming to be from yesterday talking about it. Sounds fishy to me.

Okay... got a new desk chair. Don was nice enough to get it for me when yesterday the old one literally collapsed! It's quite comfy and actually gives me some back support so maybe my shoulder won't go numb from be on the comp for days at a time.

Going out to an impromptu 'party/get-together' tonight. No EQ for me! Heh. Now I just have to figure out what to wear. I'm such a clothes horse sometimes it's not even funny.

Okay, so I completely freaked out the other day... it was a bad day, I won't bore you with details. Let's just say I need a Paxil prescription and don't deal well with tedious jobs and plentiful sunlight.

Have a little 2 day job thing this weekend... thrilled. Still interviewing, haven't quite found the right job yet. It's never taken this long for me to find something before... and I'm not sure why it is now. Don starts school in just under 2 weeks. Plans to move have been put on hold for multiple reasons, he's just going to have to commute from where we live now for a while. Trying to get the house clean and get all the other crap I need to get done finished. I actually started another painting the other day after having such a frustrating day... I hope I can finish it soon. The number of half finished paintings lying around now is alarming. Maybe I'll add a 'work in progress' section to the art page.

I'm having a terrible time with the DIablo44 page. A bunch of stuff I did for it got lost again when a zip disk I was using decided to pack in. *sigh* I think that project is cursed.

I'll be on the webcam later this weekend, I hope. I've been completely incommunicado while I've been on it lately because I'm trying to get caught up on a few things from playing EQ too much, but I hope to have ICQ up later this weekend for a while at least. Sometimes, you just don't want to talk to anybody... and it's been one of those weeks.

Everquest is the spwan of Satan! If you have never played it DON'T! If someone gives you a copy... RUN SCREAMING! There is a reason they call it EverCrack, do not take this lightly. All you'll want to do is play. 'One more level and I'll stop' 'I just need enough platinum to upgrade my weapon... and I'll stop" YEAH... you'll stop 3 or 5 hours later!

Currently I'm playing a little Wood Elf Druid (only 5th level as of this writting). I'm still keeping more or less to my hometown, but I wander out when I get bored. I guess I'll try to make 10th level or so before I wander much further than Butcherblock Mountains. I'm having fun playing by myself, but eventually I hope Don gets a character on the same server (Xegony if anyone who reads this actually plays), or I get bored with Aveenia and want to play something new. I might even try to find some recomends on good servers and start over with him there.

So here I am... another day. Lots of interviews this week, still waiting to hear back from them though. I know I'll get something soon because the requisite month between jobs is almost over. I don't know why but it seems like I always have to have a month between jobs. I think I'm cursed... honestly.

In other news I went for a little shopping therapy yesterday. Got some MAC studio fix foundation, brick lip liner, and contrast eyeshadow. I also got a little gunmetal choker with tiny dark red stones, some jelly bracelets, and a new net shirt, fine mesh not fishnet. I also got some Sumatra coffee over ice, and it was amazing. I miss the iced coffee I used to make for myself at work every day, but making it with the good stuff just takes it to a new level.

I know I haven't been writing much... but there isn't much to report here lately. Still working on Diablo 44 site, among other things, still need to go study more.

I fucking HATE thumpy bass 'music'. Generally speaking I'm a libertarian, but in this case there should be a law prohibiting anyone from playing it ever. My fucking neighbors blast it all the time, (both sides... so don't make this into a racial thing... because it's not). The vibrations make me nauseas. It's intrusive! If you are anywhere within 300 feet of some fuck playing it... even if you are in a concrete structure it's going to be audible. I swear to god if we don't move away from this trash I'm going to go off!

Bartok has taken to sitting under my chair and playing or sleeping when I am on my computer. Right now he is sitting in my lap, purring. It amazes me how he can be so sweet like this, and at other times be such a little bastard. Lately when he wants something in the kitchen he'll do a Xena yell. Very odd.

More interviewing today. Trying to decide what to wear as I type this.

I think the webcam will be back today. Can't be sure, though. Aparently it has been sent back and forth between Nashville and IL several times. I don't know whether UPS is that incompetent, or if our damn obnoxious neighbors (or their kids) have been taking the notices down. It wouldn't surprise me... they've already started a gum collection on our steps. I despise living next to trashy people. I hate hearing them fight through the walls, sometimes I swear it sounds like they are bouncing their kids down the stairs, I hate their damn thumpy music. I don't ever want to live in an apartment/townhouse type setup again, unless the walls are six feet thick and made of lead.

*oops! just dribbled coffee on the kitty!* Luckily it was cold and he doesn't seem to care.

Okay. Got the domain squared away for necrotek.com, the tech and gaming site I've been going on about. The logo there is not the final one, it's just something I threw up till I get the design finished.

Not much to rep[ort over the weekend.

Saw XMen, was pleasntly surprised because I just expected it to suck wholesale, and it didn't. Storm sucked for more reasons than I really care to get into. Otherwise, it was fun, and all the in jokes were great. That Darth Maul ref. just about killed us... too bad no one else in the theater seemed to get it. They didn't miss the point of the 2 factions. They didn't make it black/white. It actually had some depth to it, and here i was expecting complete fluff. Well, at least it was only partial fluff. :)

No news on the housing front, nor the job front for that matter. I have several interviews today... so keeping fingers crossed...

Last night I dreamt I went to some goth function in London. I met a lot of people from alt.gothic, most of which I have actually not had that many exchanges with. For some reason there were a lot of us sleeping on the floor of a hotel room. Ren had his sleeping bag right next to me. Oonh show up as a strange cartoon character who looked like the image here. The rest of the dream was mostly traveling around the city in groups. I also saw Lady Greycat, Necroangel, and TSM... but only briefly as they were in another group. We ran into them at sort of a mall with lots of wood paneling. It actually more resembled some place I saw in Hungary. Most of the dream was kind of shapeless, except the last part of it where Ren and I both lost out plane tickets. I misplaced mine in the room, and his was stolen out of his jacket. I find this a bit odd as I haven't really spent much time on alt.gothic in years.

Don made it into MTSU! Classes start in a little over a month! *runs around screaming*

We went house hunting yeaterday and found a few good options less than a mile from campus. There is one that looks like a great opportunity... BUT we have to make sure it's sound. A good friend of ours is in real estate and she is going to check everything out for us, and try to get us a great deal. I will NEVER be able to make this up to her, I know less than nothing about this shit!

Now, I have to start packing up the house and I MUST find a job out there ASAP. That means I'm going to be spending most of my days out there or at home packing till I find a job!

He is going to get to start as a sophmore, which is good, but I have so much to do!

Yesterday we went and looked at houses in Murfreesboro. I really don't want to live there, but with Don going to school there we almost have to. All the ones we looked at were less than a mile from campus, I just hope I find a job in the area, because the hour commute each way to and from Nashville would be terrible. In any case, we are going to start packing up the house in the next week or two. We have so much shit, it takes at least a month to get it all boxed up. We know we are going to move, even if we don't know where exactly... might as well be proactive.

I went out again last night. The outfit I wore was rather different than the usual... I wore sort of an '80's/amine outfit with pants! I never wear pants out. I'll post picturres of what I wore later, I have to download them from the camera yet. I got more compliments on it than anything I've worn in years. It was a red silk pirate shirt, with a PVC top/vest thing over it, and a waist cincher over that; black slightly baggy pants tucked into my new smegg like boots that FINALLY came from How Cool. I did my hair in sort of an anime style with long bangs in front parted on either side of my face and the rest of my hair pulled back into a ponytail with some extensions added to make it longer. I especially got compliments on the hair... so I will be doing it again. I originally just wanted to pull it back because I was so DAMN hot last night... but the experiment seems to have been a success and it was a lot of fun to swish..

The music for the first part of the evening sucked, then sucked some more. Eventually Jimmy started playing good stuff... non stop. Trying to dance in new, right out of the box boots, for an extended period was a bitch, plus I'm stiff from not going out much till recently. Hopefully my dancing didn't suck too much, but I was not at my best certainly.

The most entertaining part of the evening was having people that I have known for years not know, and sometimes, not believe that it was me.
them: "What's your name?"
me: "vcitoria"
them: "I thought it was you from the way you were dancing... but you don't look like you! Wow!" *grabs someone we both know* "Hey, do you know who this is?"
them2: "No"
them:"It's victoria!"
them2:"nuh-uh!"
me: "look at my purse... it's me! Really!"

I love doing that.

Oh! I totally forgot about this... The other day as I was coming out of Kroger, I heard something familiar. I couldn't quite make out where it was coming from, but by the time I reached my car... and the home boys with their thump crap had moved on... I could hear it coming from the franchised steak house on the other end of the parking lot. It was Time by the Chameleons from Strange Times. I couldn't believe it! This place,m a redneck hell hole on the outskirts of Nashville, TN... playing Chameleons! I called Don on my cell phone and held it up for him to hear... just to make sure I wasn't going insane.

What made me think of this is that we got Strip (new Chams album after 10 years of being broken up) in the mail today. It's interesting, I like the acoustic versions of the old songs. The didjeridoo was great, i never could learn to play that damn thing... you go Dave! I'm not totally hoopy on the new song (I hate harmonica, I really do)... but perhaps it will grow on me. It's very Tony-Fletcher-esq, but reminds me of something that didn't quite make it on to the ep.

What, you've never heard of the Chameleons? They are the single most under rated band in musical history (with the possible exception of Peter Tolstoy Swadley, (where are you!). They aren't 'goth', but many goths like them. PLEASE check them out if you are unfamiliar with their work. They sound totally unlike any other band, their soaring guitars and deep cynical lyrics are simply not to be missed. Do yourself a favour, and go pick up a copy of Script of the Bridge or Strange Times.

I was up till past 5AM becasue I couldn't sleep. I am trying to redesign my art site, AGAIN, because I don't like it anymore. I wasn't up because of that, I was just surfing my domain and decided I hated it.

I had several mini dreams, Maybe they were from stress, I don't know.

The first one I was still at GE, it was my last day, Don & I were leaving on a 4 day trip to Atlanta the next day.

Number 2: We were packing for a trip, but we couldn't decide where to go. Originally we were going to South America, but decided that would be too expensive so we settled on going to Madison WI. (Which, you should know is a place I would like to move to someday. I love Madison, it is an easy drive to Chicago, it's clean, & I like it.) The thing is, I knew as soon as we got back from the trip we were going to have to move to another house.

I woke up at 10AM, made coffee, did dishes, at a peanut butter nammich.

Now Don won't get up unless I make him pancakes.

I'm tired, but not so that I could sleep again. I have no idea how to fix the site. Don keeps asking me what I'm doing... as if to imply, 'what are you doing that could possibly be more important than making me pnacakes?', in that half asleep, self-serving mist that we who are not morning people all seem to have.

Well, the night out was a nit of a nightmare. Because of the impending holiday, every redneck and Old Navy wearing half-assed wannabe raver type was out. It was nice seeing friends, we even got to have dinner with Jonathan and Natasha before hand, but the place was packed with exactly the people I did not want to be at a club with. The most fun I had on the dance floor was when I made a few Klub Kids hand over their light sticks and I danced with them for a song. I don't know why, I just liked fucking with them. Other than that, I was hit on numerous times; and had several people dancing with me when I was in no way dancing with them which drove me off the floor more than once. There was a day that I would have stood my ground and slapped them if they actually tried to make physical contact... but somehow I just couldn't be bothered.

My headhunter isn't back in town till tommorrow *sigh* I doubt I'll even have anything short term till next week.

Well, the weekend has come and gone. I got the page done for this guy, and can start updating my own again. Tonight I plan on going out to the club with Don. I don't know how it's going to be, but I might as well go while I still have no Tuesday morning obligations (including job hunting, which I can't waste a day of after the holiday).

Yesterday we went to the new huge mall near where we live, Opry Mills (we call it Shopryland). What a disappointment. It's a total tourist trap. Interestingly, they are going to be putting in a Hot Topic, and the Tower is fairly nice; but I was very disappointed with the food court and most of the other shops. I was hoping for something vaguely interesting, or unusual for this area of the country and the best I got was an Orange Julius... woo-hoo.

I think we are going to spend the fourth basically hiding. Staying home, watching movies and working on a new RPG, (Silver for the Dreamcast), we just started sounds good to me.

I should be posting a pic of what I'm wearing out later...

Here I am, just after Midnight. Still dripping from the shower, trying to detangle my freshly dyed hair.

I have finished with the first draft of a website I'm getting paid to do. Not much I can work on now, though, considering I'm sure I won't hear back from my patron till the morning.I didn't expect a paying webdesign gig, but the money will be nice under the circumstances. Yes, I am nervous about it. There is an inescapable dread knowing that someone is off judging your work.

It's my last day at GE. I hope to be able to go out tomorrow night to a party at a friend's house, but that depends on what needs to be done to the site. I need to use the long weekend to unwind and get ready for the big job stress coming next week. I know it won't really hit me till Don goes off to work without me. That's actually something I'm grateful for, the vague cloud I can live in this weekend to keep me from stressing.

Still looking for a new job. I'm hoping to get something in Murfreesboro, TN so we can be close to Don's school. We are still debating where to live, but a lot depends on where I'm working. If I get a job in Nashville that means a 2 hour commute both ways if we live in M'boro. What a nightmare.

Well, here I am at work on a Saturday. This project is so far behind, we almost have to come in. I need the extra cash though, with all the rampant upgrading I've been doing on my computer.

Apparently my interview went pretty well on Friday. I really need to get out of here, and even with all the potential downsides to that job, I really need it. I need the money and I need the challenge. At least I would get to work on the company intranet and such. That I am extremely excited about. It would be scary having a job like that, and a little weird having to wear a suit everyday.

I hope my camera gets back soon. I really want to use it. I need to get pics of myself decked out in corpgoth attire!

I also need to update FGM and A&L not to mention upload the rest of the stuff for my resume site... not that it's linked anywhere on 313.

This month is really flying by. I have so much I need to do, but work is wearing me out so I don't feel like doing anything except goofing off or sleeping when I get home. The worst thing is I may have to work this weekend as well. Sure, I could use the money, but I really need a break. Oh well, I guess that's just life.

I sent off my broken webcam to 3Com yesterday. I only used it a few times, but I do miss it. Now that i have it properly linked to my webpage, I think I could get some use out of it.

Is anybody actually reading this junk?

Anyway, back to work...

So I went for an interview yesterday. It went well, as they asked me to come back Friday. Ironically enough, my second interview is going to be with my web design teacher from several years ago at Nashville Tech. Small world. It's at a large law firm as a training coordinator. I've really been wanting something more hands on, but I have experience at this and I need the money if Don is going to be going back to school. I could learn a lot at this job, plus it would give me time to get all my certifications in case I decided to change jobs after he gets out of school... but that's 3-4 years away! I need something stable while he's in school as he won't be able to work full time. I'm not getting my hopes up too high though, that's a good way to get them dashed to the rocks.

I finished Soul Reaver Friday night, and can't wait for the second half to be released. After I was done, I was still in gaming mode so I started Shadowman....

What did I do with my weekend? I played Shadowman, and that's about it. Fun game, I love the atmosphere, and it's beyond creepy. I have 3 complaints though

1) The sound is very glitchy, which is unfortunate because the game music is very good. Even worse, this can cause one to miss important jumps.

2) The load time is ridiculous. When Soul Reaver was ported over to the Dreamcast, a lot of the load time and glitchyness was fixed. I really wish they had taken the time to do this for Shadowman.

3) When you port between areas you loose whatever secondary weapon you had configured. This is a real pain in the ass, especially if you happen to port in the middle of a large group of nasties.

Regardless of these problems it kept me enthralled all weekend, in fact I was up till the wee hours last night with Shadowman has interesting story, and a well done voodoo theme. Some of the areas are very difficult, but when you die you don't loose anything you've gathered, you simply rematerialize at your starting point; and the enemies you've killed don't come back until you leave the area and return which is a definite bonus. It's very non-linear, and there aren't any boss fights, but there are plently of places to explore, and come back to once you have obtained items that will open up new areas. That's my favorite part of adventure games, exploring and ferreting out every nook an cranny.

When we bought the game we were warned that it was somewhat disturbing. Something about religious themes was mentioned, but that isn't what I found unsettling. Granted, this is in no way a family game, but when I got to the section called the Asylum Playground... well... it was kind of sick. What was so bad? Not the enemies, who are pretty typical of the game, mutants with hooks and chainsaws, it was the soundtrack. A strange mix of light childlike music, children laughing and crying, the sound of a drill and other machinery, squishing noises like a body being taken apart, and other questionable sounds mixed in together. While the visuals are the blood stained walls and twisted organic landscape I have come to expect, I have seen nothing that compares to the sounds in this section of the game. It really disturbed me, not an easy task.

Obviously I can't give a complete, or even coherent, review right now. I'm only a little over halfway through.

Been playing in photoshop again. I'm thinking about doing some big ones like this for the free graphics page, for computer wallpaper. I'm not sure that I would call it art, but here it is...

Yesterday was a mess. I didn't get to write about the Roger Waters show.

Tuesday night we went to see Roger Waters. It's funny how as he gets older he' starting to look a bit like Richard Gere. The show was excellent, but I could have done with about 60% less doo-wap girl. He has them singing on nearly everything now, even in places where they don't belong... like some of the older Floyd stuff. While in theory I support having a female sing on 'Mother', their style of singing was just wrong. I was also not really happy with the band members who tried to fill in David Gilmore's vocals. I really think they should have gotten someone specifically to do those parts. Other than that I really enjoyed the show.

Working on the page today. I need to get it fixed so i can nuke the old one, and move on to other projects I have pending.

It's morning, and I am bored. I have checked every board and guestbook and email account. I don't feel like working on the pages or any graphics, actually I don't feel like doing much of anything, except maybe going back to sleep.

Tonight we go see Roger Waters. I'm really excited about that, well, as excited as one can be this earily.

Well, I finally decided to get serious about finding another job. This one is driving me insane from the boredom, and I am more than a little bitter about the broken promises and terrible pay. I have spent much of today job hunting online. I am wasting my time here, not to mention being screwed royally on my paycheck. I've had it!

On another note, I finally got the beta version of my website up. Absolution is in beta test, the Den will die wednesday I think. All comments are welcome.

I just got back from Kroger's. Again, we found ourselves going through the line of a woman in her 40's or 50's who was more interested in asking us about the whole goth thing than scanning our items. She has screaming 'natural' red hair, a nose ring, and wears a choker with a blue butterfly on it, yet she is all bent out of shape about her daughter who has gotten into goth recently. As usual, we reassured her that goth is not religion based, and that most goths grow up to hold good jobs often working with computers if they don't become artists, designers, or writers; and are productive members of society even if they are weird. I gave her my URL, in hopes that her daughter would visit and email me.

I don't know why I feel such a sense of responsibility to help the younger generation when more often than not they dissapoint me. Hope springs eternal. Perhaps, I think, this one will be nifty. Honestly, there are quite a few younger goths I've met recently online who are really interesting and intelligent. I shouldn't complain, but usually, (not always!), the local ones turn out to be not quite what I had hoped for. Someday I will be surprised, though... someday.

Just got back from a lovely night out with Don. Saw Mission Impossible 2. Predictable, but pure Jon Woo! A very fun movie, no surprises, but visually wonderful and action packed despite a few slow moments. It's worth it just for his intense directing.

Right now I'm avoiding working on the page. I don't really know what I want to do, but coding HTML is not it. *sigh* Perhaps I'll just go to bed... prehaps.

Ew... just got in my OEM 600Mhz Celeron-C flipchip in. I just want to go home and put it in now. I expect I'll be spending a lot of time on my computer this weekend. Now if I could just get my damn webcam to work I'd be in business.

I hope I can get the new page done this weekend. Frankly I'm sick to death of working on it. Last night was frustrating because I'm wrestling with the whole pretty versus bandwidth issue. This is especially true on the first page, which is entirely graphics and javascript. I'm torn because on the one hand I want it to be accessible to everyone on the other I want it to be really snazzy. It is a personal page after all.

Last night I dreamt about Quake, not surprising since I played Quake III Arena all night till I went to bed. Somehow I just couldn't bring myself to do anything constructive, and since I just got a 19" flat screen monitor, I have to break it in! I'm also getting a great deal on a 600Mhz Celeron that I plan to overclock. Now if I can just finish the proxy server I can quit messing with the computers and do other things... yeah right.

I'm still working on the new personal page, which I hope to be able to upload next week. Then I can update A&L, and start coding the new gaming and tech site. Last night I think we came to an agreement on which direction we want to go with it. Since we are never going to be as comprehensive a gaming site as IGN, we have a few interesting angles we are going to explore. Hopefully it will be successful enough to get us press passes to E3, which is the whole purpose behind it anyway... oops... did I say that? Heh. Besides, it will give me an excuse for playing games and buying new stuff for the computer!

I have a few parties interested in commissioning websites, if those deals go through I won't be able to work on mine for sometime. That's alright though, it will be nice to actually get paid for all the time I spend coding HTML, making graphics, etc.

I suppose I should put in a small introduction for anyone reaching this page from Blog.

Online I go by victoria gwaed, actually many of my IRL friends know by that as well. I am a goth, and have been for many years. My personal page curently resides here but that is going to change soon, as I am killing that page off. The new one will be here, but is still under construction. Professionally, I am a computer and network tech. I play too many video games, have too many websites to update, and spend way too much time online.

This week I am working on the new personal page and trying to find the time and motivation to paint between playing Soul Reaver and Quake III at home.

Right now I am at work, goofing off while loading software and configuring databases, which is very much a hurry up and wait process. I am bored. I want a new job.

Well, this is certainly different than the old method of Dreamcaging. I have no idea if this is going to actually work with the new layout, but we'll see!

I'm still working on the replacement for the Den. It's taking alot longer than I thought it would, bit I want it to be more or less perfect before I release it. Antimony & Lace is still in need of updating, but I was busy with otherthings like playing way too much Quake and starting a new eList for babybats to meet older goths FairyGothMothers. I continue in the great tradition of too many projects. At least this one seems to have taken on a life of it's own, and though it's going to take a long time to get through all the posts, I think it was a good idea. I may have to find another person to help me moderate it though, as I didn't expect for it to take off like it did...
