secure in all our fear

currently fuming over:
the stupidity of the average editorial.
DenverPost.com - Letters to the Editor

"As a kid, it was a toss-up who I feared more, dad or God.
...
I wish kids today could feel secure like we did then."

The fact that anyone can publish this makes me sick. And they call what I went through child-abuse?

It's really sad that someone can explain the lack of school shootings in earlier years by saying both that they were scared of retribution and that they felt more secure. Anyone else see the contradiction? Maybe I'm just not awake yet.
