What a snow storm! Correction, the rain storm that turned into a snow storm. I spent 15 minutes digging my truck out this morning. These are the times when it's great to drive a 4 x 4. These are also the times when I regret not having a garage.
My take on the Oscars.....my once great impression of Russell Crowe instantly changed when I saw what an aloof prick he was at the awards. Steve Martin did a great job, and Julia Roberts is a sweetheart.
I finished my last MCSE exam yesterday. Yay for me! I'm so thankful to finally have it, that when I get the certificate, I might have to blow it up, frame it, and put flashing lights around it.....kind of a shine of sorts. Sunday, March 18, 2001
Another quiet Sunday. We drove to Chestermere and looked at Showhomes all afternoon. I think we'll be buying the $550,000 home that backs onto the lake with it's own dock (yeah right!!!)
Going back to work tomorrow after having a whole week off is going to be tough. But, I'm sure everyone missed me terribly and will be happy to see me back (yeah right!).
Anyways, the TV is calling my name. I'd better go see what it wants. Saturday, March 17, 2001
Wanna know what I love? I love it when Saturday's feel like Sunday's. It feels like a long weekend because it's like you get two Sunday's, and it feels like you get an extra day before you have to go back to work. Speaking of work, I have figured out that if my RRSP keeps going as well as it has been, I'll be able to retire when I'm 55. The thing is, I don't know if I'll want to stop working. I actually missed work after taking this past week off (I know, it's sick). But I'm thinking after another 30 years, I'll probably run screaming from the building when I'm able to retire.
If anyone knows a dumb broad that drives a red Accent with a cell phone glued to her ear while carrying on a conversation with the person on the phone and her kid in the front seat, please tell me where I can find her. I've got a few dozen bitch slaps with her name on them. If you see her, tell her I'm the one that was driving the black Land Rover that nearly rear ended her when she SLAMMED ON HER F*CKING BRAKES FOR NO REASON!! If you know a dumb ass that drives an Associated Cab, tell him he's a complete asshole and kick him in the ass. Tell him it's from the woman that he wouldn't let in front of him so she could exit onto 52nd St. NE., and consequently she forced her way in front of him and made him veer onto the side of the road. God damn I hate Calgary drivers.
Blogger is seriously pissing me off. For the umpteenth time, I write a long blog, try to post or post & publish, and I get an ASP error, and blogger kills my post! Ruzz, what would it take to get hooked up with PHP??? ;) Friday, March 16, 2001
We went to the Car & Truck show at the round-up centre. Here's the verdict...I still love my Land Rover more than any SUV there. The only thing I would change is to have a 2001 Land Rover instead of the 1997 model I have now. All in do time. Maybe in a couple of years we'll trade the 97 in for a new model (either Jay or I will have to make more money before we can afford a new one). And while I'm at it, my summer vehicle will be a Mustang GT. Drive the Land Rover in the winter and for camping excursions etc., and drive the Mustang in the summer. Now that's the shit! They had a silver Mustang GT convertible at the Car & Truck show, and I have to tell you, it totally turned me on. I've been lusting after Mustang's for nearly 2 years now. I don't want a convertible though. I'd really like a sunroof though, or T-tops, now T-tops would be beautiful. Oh baby. I suggested selling the house so we could afford the payments on a brand new Land Rover and a Mustang, but Jay didn't think it was such a good idea. Funny....usually it's Jay that comes up with the off-the-wall assinine (sp?) plans.
Dr.T, there's nothing wrong with being forty. The problem that I have is feeling like I have the responsibility of someone older (say....40?), when I'm only 24. I guess responsibility shouldn't be linked with age, because it really doesn't work that way. I was just trying to get my point across. But why am I explaining myself, you know what I meant, now quit giving me a hard time.
This was just so weird, I had to blog about it. I had a dream last night about a guy that I've never met, and only know of. His name is Todd, and he's a friend of Darin and Ruzz (who I've also never met). I started reading Todd's and Ruzz's website after I started reading Darin's site (because Darin has their links on his page). So now the story....I had a dream about Todd last night. Why? I have no freakin idea. I dreamt I went to Walmart, bought some stuff, then went out the back door and met up with some friends (I don't even know who they were). There was some sort of carnival going on outside of Walmart, so we walked through it. One of my 'friends' said 'Let's go see Todd'. So we went through this hidden door, and apparently ended up in Todd's apartment. I met Todd, and we all sat around talking. Todd and I got into a heated conversation, he was giving me a hard time and I ended up calling him an asshole, and I got up and left. Todd came after me, and talked me into going back inside. So we went back in, had a beer, and talked about why he was giving me such a hard time. WHAT THE HELL??? I don't even know this guy, and I don't drink beer, and why the hell did I have a dream about him?!! Anyways, it was just so weird I had to get it off my chest. I have the strangest dreams. Some of them are ten times worse than the one I just told you about. If I blogged about half of my dreams you'd send the looney police out to get me. Seriously. Thursday, March 15, 2001
So I'm sitting here checking out some websites, and Jewel (my 35 pound dog) decides she needs to sit on my lap. At first I think 'aw, how cute. Jewel wants to cuddle'. Then I realize as she starts to sniff around and climb on top of my desk, that she's just using me as a step ladder to visit unchartered territory.
I'm starting to wonder why I took a week off of work at all. Do you ever feel like you have no life? I feel like I exist to take care of my dogs and clean my house. Every day is just a repeat of going through the motions. I would do anything just to have the house to myself. No husband, no dogs, no mother. No one. Just me. I want to go on a cool vaction (a real vacation, not camping in Kananaskis....a vacation that actually involves getting on a plane and travellling for many hours). I want to get a B.Sc degree. In a way I feel like I've got so much, and on the other hand I feel like I have nothing. I feel like a change needs to be made. I'm tired of looking after other people. I want an opportunity just to worry about myself. My life is boring, and I feel totally unfulfilled. I feel like I'm forty years old, but I'm only 24. I want to have kids someday, but at this point having kids would be a big mistake. But at the same time, I don't want to be too old when I have kids. Is it possible to go through a mid-life crisis at 24? Maybe it's just an identity crisis. Wednesday, March 14, 2001
I got a nice surprise in the mail today. Bruce sent me a sweatshirt from NYU. Beings as he's down in Pennsylvania, he goes out to New York once in awhile, and he got me a sweatshirt. Now how nice is that? Thanks Bruce:) Now I have to think of something to send him. (hmmm....)
I went and got my hair trimmed and highlighted today. For the first time in my life, a guy washed my hair. The salon that I go to does a scalp massage after they condition your hair. Almost nothing (almost) feels better than a scalp massage. Even when a woman does it it feels utterly amazing. Now let a cute guy run his fingers through my hair, and I almost start to salivate. This guy was hardly a day over 18, so is it wrong that I was slightly turned on? I wonder if he noticed the smirk on my face during the entire experience. Would it be obvious if I started booking a weekly appointment just to get my hair washed? Monday, March 12, 2001
I tried to post this yesterday, but surprise! Blogger crapped out. Anyways, here's attempt #2.
Well, I decided to blog. Not for long though...I need to take my needy dogs for a walk. I couldn't even veg and watch TV for an hour this afternoon without them sprawling all over me looking for love, attention, and cuddles. Now Jewel is outside whining because noone's entertaining her. Anyhow, I've got a cold. Not a bad one so far, just the sniffles and a raw sore throat. When ever my throat starts feeling like this, I end up with laringytis (sp?). I went to Oasis Spa today and got exfoliated, bathed and massaged. It was quite enjoyable. Then I headed to the mall to spend some money (oh, by the way, I'm on holidays this week). I ran into Nancy, an old co-worker, and chatted with her for awhile. Apparently my old place of employment is still headed for hell in a hand basket. Glad to hear that Friday is her last day though. I don't like to see old friends rot away in that God forsaken waste land. So I got a new black suit, blouse and cool jacket at the mall. I think I'll head to another mall later this week. Spring always forces me (yes, FORCES me) to buy new clothes. I love spring!. I was reading about myself on a Chinese astrology website (I'll post the link later when I find it again), and it confirmed that spring is my best time of year. I was born in the year of the dragon. Plus, I'm a leo to boot. What a cool combination. I want to get a tattoo of the Chinese character for dragon. I just have to find out what the character is first. I'd hate to 'think' I was getting the dragon symbol, and end up with a rhinocerous character or something. That would be disasterous. Sunday, March 04, 2001
...and I had to laugh....hysterically...
This afternoon Jay and I were downstairs watching TV. He had to go upstairs to use the washroom. A minute later, I heard a scream, and a "SHIT!". When Jay returned, I asked "What were you doing up there?". He replied, "SOMEONE left the seat up, and I fell in the damn toilet!". Oh, My God! ROFLMAO!! I laughed at him for what seemed like hours. The funny thing is, he's the only male in the house (except Winston....and I don't recall ever teaching him how to lift the seat of the toilet to take a pee). Hehehe. Tuesday, February 27, 2001
Favorite song of the week: In Repair by Our Lady Peace
Annoyance of the week: downloading a song from Napster that 'supposedly' is CD quality, but turns out sounding like radio reception in Antarctica.
The most digusting smell of all time: the breath of a chain-smoking coffee drinker. Puke! Monday, February 19, 2001
Butterfly is now my #2 favorite song. #1 is now Around the World, by ATC. Good dance music. Makes me want to go to a bar and dance. I love Napster.
Well, it's official, being on call sucks big time. Without going into great detail, the company I work for is generous in all areas EXCEPT compensating people for being on call. I was on call for 129 hours over the past week, and got paid for 4 hours. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't stand for being treated unfairly....I CAN'T stand for being treated unfairly. I'm going to try my hardest to hold my tongue in this case, though, seeing as my 3 month review is in a couple of weeks:)
And speaking of tongues...Dr.T, thank your lucky stars that you passed over Dr.T And The Women at the video store. When we were getting ready to watch our movies, Jay asked me which one I wanted to watch first. I responded by accident "Mr.T and the Women". Jay chuckled and said "I think Mr.T would be terribly insulted by that". Oops. This movie made we want to gag. I'm so ashamed that I was the one that picked it out. Jay will never let me live it down. We also watched Bless the Child, which was alright, and Gossip. Considering I hadn't heard of Gossip before I saw it at the video store, it was actually pretty good.
I went with Jay yesterday when he went to Banff to do a service call. On the way home, I heard my favorite song of the week, Butterfly, by Crazy Town. As soon as I got home, I downloaded it from Napster, and haven't stopped singing it since. I saw the video today on Much Music, and it's not so hot. The guys are gross, and I wouldn't touch any of them with a 10 foot pole. After I downloaded the song, I read through some of my favorite blog websites. When I read Dr.T's website, and his less than favorable review of my new favorite song, I had to laugh. Dr.T and Nora Bing: a match made in heaven. Not even close :) |
