The team's going to be going to Florida today--maybe.

We'll know at about noon--if nothing happens, I'll be at the airport at 2 PM to see the guys off and bid them a safe training camp.

In other hockey news, Canadiens' captain Saku Koivu has been officially diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Please shuffle the man into your prayers tonight, dear readers, along with the victims of Tuesday's attacks on New York City and Washington DC.

And on that note, the new site will be up shortly.

The team shows that it has its priorities straight

I'll go watch the guys skate tomorrow, fearing that it may be the last time I see them.

There's no way to accurately describe that fear. It's a gripping, squeezing primal terror that's wrapped itself like a horrible chilling claw around my heart. I don't like being afraid like that. I want to punish those responsible for making me feel like this. I want to make them suffer as I've suffered, I want them to know pain, I want them to know fear, and then I want them to die. My emotions have been reduced to that primal a level by this--and it's normal, so I'm told. But it doesn't feel normal. I don't like it.

Hope to see some of you at the ESA tomorrow.

Well.

Today was supposed to be the day I go on and on about how it's great that Training Camp is starting and how I got to see the guys off at l'aeroport, and so on and so on yadda yadda yackety schmackety.

Then my husband woke me up and told me to go see what's on CNN.

Hockey just isn't all that important right this second, y'know?

Please say a prayer for the souls of the departed and give blood if you can.

Bad Craziness, soon come.

ESPN.com: NHL - Canadiens' Koivu found to have cancer cells in abdomen

I swear to Malik, the Montreal Canadiens have become Murphy's Bitches.

Positive thoughts and prayers going out to the Habs' fanbase and to the Koivu family from all of us at Total Caneage.

ESPN.com - MORESPORTS - What's in a flag?

This is not hockey-related and not Canes-related, but I felt it was worthy of inclusion in the blog today.

More later.

The Long Nightmare Is Almost Over

FINALLY. FINALLY Boob Clarke sent Eric Lindros and his damnable parents packing.

Hell, why am I rejoicing? I don't even like the Philthadelphia Flyers (except for Kent Manderville and Paul Ranheim, who will always be A-OK in my book) or their obnoxious drunken loutish fans! Of course, I don't like the Ranjerks OR their obnoxious drunken loutish fans either--they and the Lindros family deserve each other.

Two things today:

First--we get the draft in 2004. This will likely be confirmed in the fall. It'll be nice, but I hope that we don't have a frickin' labor stoppage that following fall.

Second:

Look! We can have a Tom Barrasso Skull Keg Party!

Happy Birthday, Rod Brind'amour.

The Carolina Hurricanes have offered you the same contract they offered Sandis Ozolinsh. I'm not sure what to think about that, to be quite honest. I think you're worth more than that, especially because you're a forward. I won't get into the Primeau schtik that led to your being traded here--that whole situation was a Mongolian Fustercluck from the word go if'n you ask me.

But I'd like to see you signed for a bit more than 5.25 bills a year. It's only a just reward for a guy who's come to embrace a state that's embraced him.

(Note to my faithful readers: my birthday is tomorrow. I prefer unmarked 10s and 20s, which may be sent to the Carolina Hurricanes as payment on my season ticket account--either that or you can send 'em to me so I can slap 'em into my bank account for that auto-debit thingy) *grin*
