monday, september 17Wow...I'd forgotten how bad all the material I originally designed for this site was. Intentionally. This is bad, too, but sadly it's not intentional. And now, a song: hey hey we're the monkees Thank you. I'm telling you all, it's Iraq, dude. Couldn't the government just check out, versus saying, "Iraq's bottled up?" (I'd link that, but I don't remember where I read it.) posted at 05:37 wednesday, september 12Those sick fucking bastards. They announced it: I suppose that's the email address the FBI and others are trying to find in logs... tuesday, september 11Jesus. H. Christ. How does one respond to this? How does one go about even commenting on it? I woke up this morning around 9 (having finally fallen asleep at 7). It was a beautiful day outside, and my cold had gone away somewhat. I made some breakfast, flipped through the Times, went outside to have a cigarette. I came back inside and laid down on my bed. Then Eric calls. "What's going on?" I asked. "Did I wake you up?" "Yes," I told him, since even though I'd been up for an hour, it was still pretty close to the truth. "So you mean to tell me I have no idea what was going on?" I said no, and he proceeded to tell me everything that was going on, as I started to shake uncontrollably and had to hang up. I understand now that, even in these circumstances I had overreacted slightly. I believed, in my cold-afflicted, pre-classes mind, that we were now at war, that it was not a terrorist attack but a first attack by some rogue nation. It took me a while to recognize that it wasn't a nuclear attack, that no country was behind it but some sick-minded individuals who decided that we needed a warning (the word "only" is in no way acceptible in this case). I also know that now, 6 hours after I was informed, that my family is safe, that my father and aunt aren't in danger, even if they aren't getting out of the city all that soon. My mother is still at work in the Bronx; my sister at school with students who aren't nearly as lucky to know that all their loved ones are safe. Like I said above, how I am supposed to comment or respond to this? Right about now the only thing I can think of this, and how I really should go give blood. Everyone...be well. posted at 16:03 monday, september 10This whole insomnia thing is getting old. It's not fun anymore. Mired is back online! So i'm not making it through this all nighter as sanely as i usually do. Eq.: A shirt. posted at 14:33 It's kind of depressing to think this, but it's possible that the "let's make fun of Dubya by making up words like 'glichitude'" genre of humor is running dry pretty quickly. Or maybe it's 5:30 and I'm square in the middle of the unfunny hour. You know, the unfunny hour. Where no matter what you say or do, people ain't gonna laugh. Actually, "glitchitude" is still pretty bitchin'. A quotes page. It's coming. Soon. I really should start thinking about updating this site regularly. (I was about to say, "again," and then stopped myself.) |
