8:40 am

Eric and I are off to DC for the weekend. And no, we're not going just to gawk at the Pentagon; we've had this trip planned for like a month now. I just found out this morning that all memorials and monuments are closed, but the Smithsonian is still open, thank god. Other than that, I don't know what the heck we're going to do. We're supposed to meet Chris for dinner at some point, so maybe he'll have some ideas for us.

Seeya Monday evening.

1:49 pm

I went over to the Hampton Coliseum around 1pm to donate blood -- they were holding a drive from 12pm to 6pm. I was almost to the parking lot when a DJ on the radio said that the blood drive was over; they had all they could handle. In one hour, they reached their quota. People had been standing in line since 9am.

Jesus.

What is up with people linking me and saying, "I don't know what I like about this journal, but I still keep reading it." That sounds awful -- kind of like, "I don't know why I like watching traffic accidents, but I still do it." Gee, thanks.

Wow, I'm surprised. You know those X10 wireless camera ads? They're still popping up, but the ad is gone -- "We have suspended our service out of sympathy to the victims and families of this National tragedy. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to them."

When I got to work this morning (before the attacks happened), there was an e-mail saying that the city would be holding a blood drive at City Hall on Friday. About two hours after the attacks, we get another e-mail saying that the drive has been cancelled.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. Red Cross is desperate for blood, so let's cancel the drive!

Hey, my health book was right: You can pull yourself out of a shitty mood, if you really want to.

Sweet. Ba ding ding.

Okay, so I'm listening to Van Morrison's "Brown-Eyed Girl," and I'm thinking, AY. Why are there no songs where guys are singing about their blue-eyed girl? Hmph.

I hate when I can't get over stuff that's not even mine to get over. Why do I keep looking back, when I know what's going to happen?

Word of advice: If you ever buy a shower curtain, make sure it's plastic or vinyl or whatever. When I moved here in April, there was already one here -- but it was one of those green frilly ugly ones (not to mention that it reeked of cigarettes). So, I went to Super K and bought another one. I didn't even think to look and make sure it was vinyl; I had no idea they even make cloth ones. My shower at my parents' house had doors, so what did I know. Anyway, when I got home and realized it was cloth, I didn't think there would be much difference.

Until recently, when I noticed that the bottom of the curtain was growing a revolting amount of mold.

Um, ew.

8:31 pm

Due to Bay Days and the fact that parts of it take up our entire parking lot, we're all getting off at noon tomorrow, instead of 4:30. Heeeeeell yeah.

I'm thinking about going this weekend, just because I've never been. I may take my camera along, since I've been wanting to get back into the photography thing for awhile, and this would be a good opportunity. Or not. Who knows.
