Long time no weblog. Good article on ZDnet about the music industries efforts to monopolize the on-line music business.
http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2801805,00.html
I still think it's a joke. If only the musicians would stop signing those damn contracts!

Just reading about the death of Napster. I can't help but get angry with the music industry. They are fighting a losing battle. Why don't they just give up and get with the new frontier for musicians!!! They would rather preserve a system that exploits the artists and limits the ability for the majority of artists to find an audience so that they can continue in an overinflated lifestyle that they really don't deserve. All the propaganda about it hurting artists copyrights!! The internet is the best thing that has happened to musicians since the invention of the 33rpm vinyl record. If they would rather sacrifice their real rights to be exploited by an outdated machine, then they deserve to continue getting screwed. Wise up people!!!!

well, I am so glad to see Blogger still alive and well. There has been so much "dying off" in the Internet world these past few months, or should I say in the Internet world of business or should I say in the business worlds infatuation with the Internet. I would say it is a natural progression and the best thing to happen. I felt like most of those companies were in some kind of greed puffed hype IPO insanity sickness. .. But the always amazing thing is that the Internet is was and for a long time will still be the most amazing thing to impact human society up until this time in history, and I still love it.

Long time no post.... Just too busy since the California trip. What a wonderful time it was. 2 days in San Francisco, then we rented a car and drove down the coast. My oldest and boldest bought his surfboard and we stopped along the way so he could surf the California waves. Gosh I wish I had had a mom like me :)
Then two awesome days in a cabin in the Big Sur woods. No tv, no computers....What an incredible place Big Sur is.... exotic is how I would describe it... It's what I imagine Japan looks like... mountains, rocks and ocean....fog rolling in... the smell of salt air and redwood forrests ... I could have died and gone to heaven and it would be Big Sur.

Well it's official....I am planning a vacation with my kids, but it's going to be a surprise. They won't know till we get on the plane where we are going. I don't know if that's good or bad, but sounds like fun and something I always wished someone would do for me. I'm going to tell them to pack hiking shoes and surfboards and see if they can figure it out... hehe...

Finally... my cable modem is back up and running after being out for 2 weeks. Just my @home system, not my @work... which would put me out of business... and now for something new and exciting.... drum roll... a new website was born yesterday, July 13, 2000...http://personalgardens.com. I'd like it to become a real gardeners community website and hope to never have one single advertisement... no banners all the time... unless gardeners want to have banners to show off their gardens... Brings new meaning to the concept of promotion.

I just read the first so-called e-commerce magazine that I
found at B & N that actually is supposed to target
e-comerce. Not a business week pub or Internet specific,
but e-commerce. I can't believe how boring and dry it is.
Just more blah blah blah.. statistics this and statistics
that. God.. I want something with some vision... that's it..
I am a vision addict.. it's what really turns me on. I guess
this was written to educate business people on what
"e-commerce" actually is... oh.. ok.. I get it.. it's
business not as usual!.. haha..I think I'll start my own
magazine and call it e-Vision

BeBe's Garden is officially a page... Once BeBe sees this, I'm sure there will be many more pictures to follow.
Well, I am once again flabbergasted and crazy about the Internet. I just discovered blogger.com. What a cool place. Everyone can have a weblog and you know what, I love reading other people's blogs. It's bloggariffic! I have my own blog - do you? So far it's just more of my aimless ranting - but you know, when you work on the computer all day, sometimes you just have to blow off a little steam and let the world know how you feel whether anyone is listening or not.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who get's annoyed with spam. As I was saying to myself last night, "Imagine if you had junk mail dumped into your real world mailbox 60 times a day...even the post office might put an end to it at that point." I have a question. Is blogging the height of egotism, or just the souls longing to find common ground with another soul?
21: Well, the question still remains. Will the Halsey's make their way south this summer to visit the Savannah cousins and add a new chapter to the Halsey Mercer Chronicles. We certainly hope so! Tomorrow is a mystery and yesterday is history.
Speaking of history, I've decided to develop a website dedicated to my great great great great great grandfather General Hugh Mercer. There just isn't much about him on the net, at least not that I can find. So who better than me to develop a website about the Forgotten Hero of the American Revolution. It will be a historical contribution to the network and in turn to anyone studying American history. If you have anything to contribute to this effort, please let me know.

Coming soon! Bebe's Garden
BeBe is the Mercer matriarch and she has a beautiful garden in Savannah, GA. It's her passion and she calls it her "therapy". Now that Bebe has a digital camera, she sends me pictures of the garden regularly to let me see what's growing. I am putting them together on a web page so everyone can enjoy this beautiful garden.
 The road to BeBe's Garden
What an inspiration. I thought this might be a good idea for alot of gardeners out there, so I registered the domain personalgardens.com (the name was courtesy of my sister Wayne - another incredible gardener). We're going to develop a website as a hub site for all the gardeners out there who'd like to share their handiwork with the rest of the world. Gardening is one of those things that spurs lots of conversation.
