"What's working well for you in your life?" was one of the questions asked of the 42 people locked away for 5 days with Dr. Phil.

So I asked myself........."What IS working well in my life right now?"

I couldn't answer the question. After thinking about it for over a half an hour I couldn't come up with a single thing in my life right now that is working well.

My career? No.
My marriage? No.
My relationship with my children? No.
Etc...

So I claim that I am content, even happy at times and yet not a single thing popped into my mind when I asked myself that question. It was a sobering moment.

Now what?

I guess I will have to tune in tomorrow to see what Dr. Phil has to say.....

The Siouxland Air Show was this weekend. Of course being the aviation family that we are, we were there both Saturday and Sunday. We all had a really great time. The final act on Sunday was the USAF Thunderbirds.......what an awsome show!

So Glenn and I have decided to go back to marriage counseling. Why? Because it seems that we have fallen into this game where we both feel like we have to "win" each argument. He and I are both equally guilty of playing this game and we are both very stubborn about it.

Of course he and I see the whole thing differently..........why wouldn't we? I see his constant arguing as a way for him not to have to say he was wrong and that I may have been right. Also as a way not to take responsibility for his part in things. Instead of saying, I was right he has to try and reason his way into being right.

OK OK....I know it all sounds very silly but man am I tired of giving in. I do it all the time to avoid confrontations. I just say "Ok Honey......you're right" and go on my merry way but there is only so much of that you can stomach.

So yesterday he and I get into an agrument about a suggestion I made. I made a suggestion and he immediately got defensive like I had just questioned his manhood. WTF?!?! In the course of discussing his reaction to me he managed to make me feel like his reaction was my fault because I didn't give the suggestion the right way......the way he thinks a suggestion should be made. So he and I go back and forth for over an hour. In the end nothing was resolved and I walked away feeling emotionally battered. I am not sure how he felt, my guess is proud of himself for winning another one out of sheer stamina.

This makes me sick to my stomach. Reminds me of school intigration in the US in the 60's. Stories like this really make me wonder what's wrong with people.

Some people are so rude I could just scream!

Owen and I are in a store minding out own business waiting in line for our turn to check out. Owen being the 3 year old that he is was talking loudly, louder than a normal conversational tone, but I shooshed him and thought that would be the end of it!

On no! From behind me I heard......"YEAH, be quiet!" in a rather annoyed tone.

To my shock and surprise there stood behind me a man of the cloth, of god, a pastor, minister, priest, what ever.....all I know is he had on a collar.

Now I am far from the religious type but I would have expected a man in his position, at least his implied position considering the collar he was wearing, would have been a bit more polite. So being the quick witted bitch that I am lashed back at him.

"I would have hoped that your faith would have taught you better manners than that!" Hmph

Oh the look on his wrinkled old face was priceless! What I would have done for a Polaroid right then and there!

I was digging thru my box of photos today looking for a negative to scan and I came across this picture. This was take in early October of 1995 on the very first trip that Glenn made to California to visit with Sam and I. You can't really tell from this picture but I was about 7 months pregnant with Steven.

On August 29th it will be the 6th anniversary of the day Glenn and I met. It is hard to believe that it has been 6 years already.

I added a few new pictures to my gallery tonight. Not only am I happy these pictures turned out so well but I am especially proud that I grew this rose myself! There are about a half dozen more roses out on the bush but unfortunately the bugs are getting to them :-( Next year I will have to find something to spray my roses with so the bugs don't feast on them.
