Peekers woke up in time for me to take him to a church gathering. Mondays our church has a parents and youth meeting for smaller kids. We got there 30 minutes late, but it was fun. I was the only guy there amongst about 25 mommies.
He was so tired a few moments ago that he just passed out on my lap. He did that once last week too. It's soooooo cute when he does that. I cuddled him for a short while then ended up putting him in his bed. He went down in his bed without waking up. He's got to be tuckered. I finished the last part of putting the gutter drain underground and he was outside playing in the dirt with me. He was so dirty! I think it made him way tired.

Christian is walking. He is galavanting all around the house. He goes from object to object. Of course, he looks like a muppet when he walks but he is walking nonetheless. It's been some time since he got a bruise so tonight was his night. He's got a huge one above his left eye. I think he took a header into a moudling by the back door. I could tell it was bad because he gave out a silent cry - one of those shreiking cries followed by moments of silence then a loud wail.
After his bath we let him prance around naked for a while. This hasnt been a problem until today. He was quiet (never a good sign) and I looked over by the front door to notice him smearing poop on the window. He had pooped all over the carpet and began smearing it everywhere. Ech ech ech. Never did that one before. We took him and hosed him off top to bottom.
Tracy and my days off rotate so we each have the little guy 3 days a week alone. He's in daycare once a week. It's good for him, but holy cripes it's tiring. Today we went to the mall and he played in the little kids area. It's pretty cool - thickly padded carpet and all the objects are soft. He had a good time. I also bought a few books by Douglas Coupland, can't wait to read them.

An open letter to a terrorist:
(author unknown)
Well, you hit the World Trade Center, but you missed America. You hit the Pentagon, but you missed America. You used helpless American bodies, to take out other American bodies, but like a poor marksman, you STILL missed America. Why? Because of something you guys will never understand. America isn't about a building or two, not about financial centers, not about military centers, America isn't about a place, America isn't even about a bunch of bodies. America is about an IDEA. An idea, that you can go someplace where you can earn as much as you can figure out how to, live for the most part, like you envisioned living, and pursue Happiness. (No guarantees that you'll reach it, but you can sure try!)
Go ahead and whine your terrorist whine, and chant your terrorist litany: If you can not see my point, then feel my pain. This concept is alien to Americans. We live in a country where we don't have to see your point. But you're free to have one. We don't have to listen to your speech. But you're free to say one. Don't know where you got the strange idea that everyone has to agree with you. We don't agree with each other in this country, almost as a matter of pride. We're a collection of guys that don't agree, called States. We united our individual states to protect ourselves from tyranny in the world. Another idea, we made up on the spot. You CAN make it up as you go,
when it's your country. If you're free enough.
Yeah, we're fat, sloppy, easy-going goofs most of the time. That's an unfortunate image to project to the world, but it comes of feeling free and easy about the world you live in. It's unfortunate too, because people start to forget that when you attack Americans, they tend to fight like a cornered badger. The first we knew of the War of 1812, was when England burned Washington D.C. to the ground. Didn't turn out like England thought it was going to, and it's not going to turn out like you think, either. Sorry, but you're not the first bully on our shores, just the most recent. No Marquis of Queensbury rules for Americans, either. We were the FIRST and so far, only country in theworld to use nuclear weapons in anger. Horrific idea, nowadays? News for you bucko, it was back then too, but we used it anyway. Only had two of them in the whole world and we used 'em both. Grandpa Jones worked on the Manhattan Project. Told me once, that right up until they threw the switch, the physicists were still arguing over whether the Uranium alone would fission, or whether it would start a fissioning chain reaction that would eat everything. But they threw the switch anyway, because we had a War to win.
Does that tell you something about American Resolve? So who just declared War on us? It would be nice to point to some real estate, like the good old days. Unfortunately, we're probably at war with random camps, in far-flung places. Who think they're safe. Just like the Barbary Pirates did, IIRC. Better start sleeping with one eye open. There's a spirit that tends to take over people who come to this country, looking for opportunity, looking for liberty, looking for freedom. Even if they misuse it. The Marielistas that Castro emptied out of his prisons, were overjoyed to find out how much freedom there was. First thing they did when they hit our shores, was run out and buy guns. The ones that didn't end up dead, ended up in prisons. It was a big PITA then (especially in south Florida), but you're only the newest PITA, not the first. You guys seem to be incapable of understanding that we don't live in America, America lives in US! American Spirit is what it's called. And killing a few thousand of us, or a few million of us, won't change it. Most of the time, it's a pretty happy-go-lucky kind of Spirit. Until we're crossed in a cowardly manner, then it becomes an entirely different kind of Spirit. Wait until you see what we do with that Spirit, this time. Sleep tight, if you can. We're coming.

Now THIS is a link worth checking out.
I also edited my last post - deleted the last paragraph. Too many people have taken it the wrong way. It's my own fault for not being able to completely convey my feelings about it. Perhaps when I can say it clearly I'll repost. Apologies to anyone who may have been offended by it.

I wasn't going to post anything for a while but I had to speak up.
I can't believe there are people out there who think that retaliation isn't the answer. That's the whole problem with the damned country - there are too many liberal wimps who think they can make all well with a hug and a kiss. The terrorists started this shit, we will end it. If I were president I would make every country found responsible for the attack a parking lot. We are the superpower of the world and we need to show the world you don't fuck with Americans. I think that has been long forgotten in this liberal society. If we need to wipe out a nation (read : Afghanistan et all) so be it. Any nation remotely connected to anyone remotely connected to this terrorist act should feel the full force of the United States Armed Forces. It should be made absolutely, perfectly, 100% clear to the world that America will stand up for itself when challenged.
If we are truly at war then we need to act accordingly. War is hell. It isn't clean, it isn't neat. Civilians get killed. Women and children die. Life sucks, deal with it. You can't pick and choose who to kill without hitting "innocents". If we would have went into World War II with the mentality people have today we'd probably still be in World War II. The object of war is to win at all costs as quickly as possible with miniml loss of life to your own side. I'm not sure if this country has the balls for a real war.

America attacked.
During World War II, right after the Japanses bombed Pearl Harbor, there was exuberance in Japan. However, one figure stood out, fearful of the future, and said "I am but afraid we have awoken the sleeping giant." (Admiral Yamamoto, Imperial Navy) Hopefully this will repeat itself in the near future.
Download this MP3 (right click and save as). It's Lee Greenwood, I'm proud to be an American. Never more so now am I proud to be in the greatest country in the world. We will triumph.

I'm thinking of ditching my DSL Line in favor of a cable modem. My DSL is (allegedly) 768kbps but it always seems slower. It's faster than a dial up to be sure, but still not cable modem speeds. Suggestions?

Little man has found his voice again. He hasn't stopped talking or screaming. It's a good, happy scream, and is quite funny.
He loves feeding people, mainly me. He thinks nothing of taking a gooey, soggy, slobbery cookie out of his mouth and trying to feed it to me. He loves it like nothing else. What I'll usually do is give him the cookie or snack then let him feed me first. There isn't much more disgusting than eating a pretzel that been in your child's mouth for the past 5 minutes.
He's doing great walking too... I give him about 2 weeks and he'll be a walking/crawling/screaming little fool..... pass the tylenol.

What is up with all of these nuts going on killing sprees? You've got this nut in Simi Valley, and this other nut in Sacramento. OK, they're both in California, which sheds some light on the topic. However, what happened to people just dealing with life? People today are the sorriest bunch of panzies ever to grace the earth. We've got it better than ever before yet these losers will go out on a killing spree for just about anything. I don't understand society. We have become so pathetic. The great new mini-series Band of Brothers is premiering on HBO tonight. I can't wait to see it. I doubt you would be able to reproduce such courage, honor and dignity with any group of people born into today's society.
Not much is going on over here... oh... yeh... peekers took about 5 steps today on his own. He'll be walking in no time.
