Waterfront : Classical CD Reviews- September 2000 Music on the Web(UK)
Lugubrious, drained of all life and passion, melody and human warmth, random patterns of a-rhythmic notes scattered across the soundscape, so pathetic the joke wore off decades ago leaving detritus tedious beyond belief. It should carry a health warning: not to be listened to by anyone not of entirely sound mind. So bleak, stark, draining is this, it might be sold as "Music to Commit Suicide To".

How's that for a review? Be sure to catch the rest.

Coca-Karma is a fascinating article, well worth the (long) read.
"...the case of Bob Kolody v. Coca-Cola -- ostensibly a trademark and copyright case that has ballooned into an amazing plethora of judicial misconduct and fraud by a lawyers for Coke and federal judges on the 7th Circuit.

Powers of Ten - View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons.

ISBN.nu offers a quick way to compare the prices of any in-print and many out-of-print books at nine online bookstores. You can view the results with or without the shipping costs of a single book, and also sort by the time the bookstore estimates it will take to acquire the title and get it out their door.

Damn McDonalds!

Where's the Beef? It's in Your French Fries
"Thank you for taking time to contact McDonald's with your questions regarding the ingredients in our french fries," responded Megan Magee of the company's Home Office Customer Satisfaction Department via e-mail. "For flavor enhancement, McDonald's french fry suppliers use a miniscule amount of beef flavoring as an ingredient in the raw product," Magee wrote. "The reason beef is not listed as an ingredient is because McDonald's voluntarily (restaurants are not required to list ingredients) follow the 'Code of Federal Regulations' (required for packaged goods) for labeling its products.

India-West surveyed other popular fast food restaurants to find out if their french fries have animal products hidden in them. Those served at Burger King "have no beef or any other animal product in them," said Chris Boesch, a spokeperson for the company. Nor do the french fries served at Wendy's, said Bob Bertini, a spokesman for that chain.
