Cornelius, cette une banane est-elle dans votre poche?
We're halfway through the entire
Planet of the Apes ouvre. Why I'm putting myself through this, I have no idea anymore. Last night we switched to French with English subtitles for Escape from...

The explanation of relative time was actually believable, not to mention kinda sexy, in French.

GRAND ROYAL, RIP 1993-2001
"This is one of the most difficult decisions we've ever had to make," said co-founder Mike Diamond a/k/a Mike D of Beastie Boys. "Over the years the
Grand Royal family had grown to include some of the most talented musicians and staff in the business. It's tragic that the same growth has also produced an overhead and infrastructure that is no longer viable."

In the eight years it was around, Gran Royal put out quality music, from the first Luscious Jackson record to the Scapecoat Wax that's currently in the car stereo. They put out a kick ass magazine, introduced me to Lee "Scratch" Perry, designed excellent self-promotional shwag (I guess those turntable mats never will go back in stock now), and broadcast two incredibly good internet radio stations.

I'm gonna miss them a lot! Next time you have a beer remember to pour a little for the good people at Grand Royal.

The new Butthole Surfers is really great to listen to during a cardio workout.*
* I would have never seen THAT sentence coming five or ten years ago. Such is the shame of life.

Fall Schwag Season is Upon Us!
George W. vacations and the economy plummets to depths not seen since Amy Carter was making out Secret Service guys(?) in the west wing of the White House. You might find yourself in the uncomfortable position of being called into the HR office for a "consultation." Chin up soldier!
Don't walk that last mile in shame. Walk it in style! With the new fall fashion messenger bags from BiggerHand! Available for a limited time only through our exclusive partnership with CafePress.com.

P.S. You might want to have the bag pre-packed and ready to go.

Legal: We do not advocate the theft of software, mice, upgrade cards, RAM, laptops, drawing tablets, expensive design books or anything else that might comfortably and/or conveniently fit in this bag.

Meu deus, estes miudos pensam em cada coisa!
Daniela at
Mundo Perfeito is fixing the world to her liking, one little babystep at a time. Yesterday she reported George W. Bush's accidental suicide:
Oh, yeah... she does it all in Portuguese.

Ballmer Monkey Boy Remix
It was only a matter of time before
this happened. Still, it's damn funny and awfully impressive.
Next we gotta work on mining that sweat to water crops.

Good
night, John Boy.

Thin, washed-out, Coke-sniffing ad executives with little yellow pills
"After awhile she started wearing the kind of underwear i saw in the hamper when I was a kid. There's something oddly reassuring about thin, white cotton underwear with
little yellow flowers."

I'm supposed to be getting a nice, warm, mellencamp all-american boy fuzzy from the fact that my wife is now wearing the same type of underwear my mother or sister used to leave dirty in the bathroom hamper?
Someone's therapist is doing a very bad/funny job.

Things my girlfriend and I have argued about
"I eat two-fingered Kit-Kats like I'd eat any other chocolate bars of that size, i.e., without feeling the need to snap them into two individual fingers first. Margret accused me of doing this, 'deliberately to annoy her'."

Dilbert's Ultimate Cubicle
"Scott Adams approached IDEO to create
Dilbert's Ultimate Cubicle, an attempt to address the myriad issues connected with partition-based offices. The result is a modular cubicle that allows each worker to select the components and create a space based on his or her tastes and lifestyle. "

I especially like the freshly-cut grass floor modules.

Sweet, eh?

Ballmer strikes again
He's really scaring me now. Maybe not as scared as when I was a boy and was afraid of nuclear war and the Soviets, and maybe not as much as racoons scare me; but certainly as much as when i found out that the aliens in "V" were actually lizards. Yeah. That kind of scared.

Lego Monty Python.
Enjoy.

Dear Misguided Souls,
I know the tales of one Doug B to be false and misleading, for he is not speaking in literal terms. There was no raccoon, no pussycat. The bat? Well the bat wasn't there either. These my friends are merely metaphoric references that a man uses when he has become much too tired of city life.

The invasive "flying friend" or "little brown bastard" he refers to represents the realities and stresses of big city life invading his psyche (house); the "raccoon" a symbol of his now waning virility as he juggles the responsibilities of being a father, husband, and homeowner. which brings us to his "Indoor Cat" and "Outdoor Cat". Symbols so blatantly obvious that any first year psychology student could clearly recognize what is being discussed here.

Or, maybe a bat got in his house last night.

Jeffrey D

Dear Mister Biggerhand,
Just to clear up another common misconception about raccoons, they ARE, contrary to established scientific opinion, known to consort with BATS.

My PROOF of this FACT is that the masked rodent that has been making AMOROUS ADVANCES toward my backyard-living cat and who stormed my screen porch the other night looking for more cat food sent his little rabies-infested FLYING FRIEND into my house at 3am last night to find where I was hiding the grub.

Lucky for me, that stupid raccoon didn't know about my INDOOR cat who is no stranger to RACCOON-BEFRIENDING BATS and who tipped me off to the invasion. Needless to say, that raccoon's TELEPATHIC POWERS better be pretty good if he's going to continue communicating with that little brown bastard now that he's been relocated to the other side of the highway and down a ways.

Sincerely,
Doug B.

"You're so lucky I let you do these things," Dave said, but he's lucky too — he likes cruel women, and a lot more effort and thought go into being cruel than into saying
okay to cruelty."

My war with the animals
On Saturday I was attacked by a goat at the petting zoo. I was trying to feed it. I got some goat food. I was sincere. The goat looked sincere. I put my hand in its cubicle, er pen, and the little beast rams my hand into the wall. It hurt like hell. For a second I thought I had a few broken fingers.
The goat seemed unphased. We looked at each other in search for understanding. I found none.
I'm afraid the goat got some information from
the racoons. That means they've found a means to communicate with each other. If so, that can mean only one thing. There's a vertical market that's gonna need integrating.
I'm gonna polish my resume and go visit that goat again.
