"I've been waiting for so long - - - - -
So, this is my new weblog. It's pretty bare-bones for now; I was just getting so tired of thinking about it, I wanted to get something, anything, up. Things will get all spiffed up as I go along. For your viewing pleasure, please use Internet Explorer 5 or above. Otherwise there will be lots of cascading style sheet errors in Netscape 4.x - and Mozilla M17 too, I notice. reading:

Thursday, August 23, 2001 Talking Points Memo: by Joshua Micah Marshall "...it seems the Bush NSC changed the rules because the folks there thought they could embarrass the previous administration. In so doing, they also potentially created a terrible precedent for the ability of this and future administrations to conduct foreign policy, by breaching the confidentiality of the president's conversations with foreign heads of state." Dubya just gets worse every day, doesn't he? 12:18 PM_______________________________________________ Tuesday, August 21, 2001 Helms Plans to Announce Retirement Is it snowing in hell or something? Y'know, I wasn't really sure I'd live to see this day... 2:56 PM_______________________________________________ Tuesday, July 31, 2001 The Return of the Puritans; or, The Further In The Sand You Stick Your Head, The Icky Truths Just Go Away. "Since taking office, President George W. Bush and his top aides have refused to allow two states to expand family planning services for poor women, reimposed a ban on abortion counseling at health clinics abroad, released a report questioning the effectiveness of condoms and proposed eliminating contraceptive coverage for federal workers. OH YEAH. Christian evangelicals are quite the EXPERTS on sexuality, and sexual health, aren't they? First there was "Just Say No" to drugs - and we see how well THAT worked. (NOT!) Now we get "Just say no" to SEX. This is gonna turn out even worse. Not just in the sense that uninformed kids having sex could spread diseases and raise teen pregnancy rates, but also in that we'll have a generation of kids taught to hate their bodies and their natural desires. When Bush and his cronies pulled off their coup d'etat last fall, the nation crossed its fingers that maybe he wouldn't turn out that bad after all. Guess what - he IS that bad. 10:01 AM_______________________________________________ Friday, July 27, 2001 Is Dick Cheney Dead Yet??? Dick Cheney had a routine checkup on his pacemaker earlier today. Doctors grew concerned when they discovered that the pacemaker was not attached to anything and that, in fact, Dick Cheney did not even actually have a heart. The concern of the Doctors waned when they realized that that was perfectly normal for a Republican. Still not dead. 4:02 PM_______________________________________________ Wednesday, June 20, 2001 Allow me to share my newest musical discovery: Chicane. He's a British dance/ambient/techno musician and I'm just totally diggin' him. I first hear a couple tunes included in the 2-disc mix collection "Chilled Euphoria." Then I heard another one on a mix at a record store the other day and decided to go ahead and pick up the new album "Behind The Sun." Beautiful stuff - dance beats, often, but also very airy, melodic and ambient. Very much the kind of thing I'm hoping to be doing myself soon, once I learn the intricacies of my new keyboard. 4:02 PM_______________________________________________ Thursday, June 14, 2001 Homer Simpson's "Doh!" added to online Oxford Dictionary. Don't have a cow, man. 9:52 PM_______________________________________________ Wednesday, June 13, 2001 The Economist says: Free Jenna! "Let Jenna Bush party on. And let America rise up in revolt against all the petty princelings of puritanism, before every aspect of social life is criminalised, pathologised, regulated or legislated out of existence." Can I get an Amen? 10:58 AM
