stress factor: 2 (ahhh, vacation!), tired factor: 0 (i slept from 5am to 3pm!), happiness factor: off the charts (i'm in france ... i'm staying with 2 wicked awesome people ... what could be better?), sadness factor: 9 (i don't ever want to leave!)

high: being in France with Caro and Martial
low: knowing that i'm leaving Bordeaux tuesday morning

Ok, this has to be somewhat short because it's about 1:10am here. I'm not gonna write about everything now because it would take too long, but i'm having the best time. Caro and Martial are both wicked awesome ... we have a good time together. Our group from Bowdoin leaves tuesday morning for Paris. I had to buy more miniDV tapes for my video camera because i've taken so much video. And the digital camera was such a good idea. I've already taken about 200 pictures, and we still have another week!

and i kissed and was kissed by a french guy ... it was just a kiss on the cheek, but it still counts. :-)

stress factor: 11 (on a scale from 1-10), tired factor: 7 (eh, not the best), happiness factor: 11 (at the high point) and 1 (at the low point), PMS factor: off the charts, COUNTDOWN TO FRANCE: 4 DAYS!!

high: having a friend buy my favorite kind of ice cream while we studied.
low: being yelled at for being "too busy" to do something that is not life-threatening.

So i haven't written in a few days. I went home last thursday to watch ingy play basketball ... they won thurs @ Stonehill and sat @ Umass-Boston, making them the D2 South Sectional champs!!! so exciting. they're playing at the fleet center tomorrow ... of course i'm heading home. :-) Krissy and Melis are going into the game too. i'm such a nut, but i love my sis.

Not much else to say. gettin' ready to fly off to france. i emailed the people i'm staying with (Caroline and Martial) ... they seem wicked cool. gonna have *so* much fun. :-)

having trouble with the Bowdoin off campus study (OCS) office ... it seems like they keep changing the rules on me ... but i was accepted at USydney last friday!!! now i'm just waiting for OCS approval, which i'll get at some point, hopefully this week. Woohoo!

had to borrow court's car for the trip home cuz mine died (and had to jump hers cuz Liz left the lights on) ... thank god for courtney ... what a production. although my car seems to be working fine now ...

i've got a surprise for tomorrow's game @ the fleetcenter ... everyone'll be shocked ... just you wait. i'll post pictures afterwards. :-D

tiredness factor: high (ng), work factor: over my head (ng at all, need to work on this), time to spend writing: -10 minutes

high: meeting a new potential guy friend.
low: not having cs375 class cancelled.

the blizzard came, it saw, and boy, did it conquer. I think we got about a foot and a half of snow. and i still had class. my professor x-country skied to work. bizarre. but i guess we're behind enough as it is. ingy hasn't had school since last friday (they have tomorrow off too). i long for those days of high school when you actually got snow days (damn residential colleges!). stupid cs project still wants to be a PIA. grrr. basketball game got postponed to thursday ... looks like i'm missing another friday installment of cs250 ... oh, look at me cry. hopefully he doesn't get too mad. heather's wedding's on saturday ... i feel like i've gained too much weight to fit into my dress ... i had better try it on tomorrow to make sure it's ok. life for the next few days will be extremely hectic. argh! and i'm missing angry salad thursday night. oh well. i'd rather watch ingy's bball game anyway. :-) overall, a pretty good day.

countdown to FRANCE: 11 days!!, time spent cleaning my room: 65 minutes, time spent on homework: 2 hrs, slack-off factor: very very high

high: discovering my love for "Le Pont Mirabeau" (french poem) and then being able to discuss it in french in class.
low: hearing about the CA high school shooting and then hearing melis say "it lowers the population."

tired. very tired. but there will be no driving home tomorrow because of this HUGE Nor'easter that's supposed to dump feet of snow across the eastern US. we'll see. hopefully the game is postponed.

for those of you who don't know french, here's the english (but much is lost in the translation):

Below the Pont Mirabeau
Slow flows the Seine
And all our loves together
Must I recall again
Joy would always follow
After pain

Let night fall, let the hours go by
The days pass on and here stand I

Hands holding hands
Let us stand face to face
While underneath the bridge
Of our arms entwined slow race
Eternal gazes flowing
At wave's pace

Let night fall, let the hours go by
The days pass on and here stand I

Love runs away
Like running water flows
Love flows away
But oh how slow life goes
How violent is hope
Love only knows

Let night fall, let the hours go by
The days pass on and here stand I

The days flow ever on
The weeks pass by in vain
Time never will return
Nor our loves burn again
Below the Pont Mirabeau
Slow flows the Seine

Let night fall, let the hours go by
The days pass on and here stand I

ohhh, what an awesome poem. i usually don't even like poetry. but this poem just works. i read it and my mind screams "YES! I GET IT! I UNDERSTAND! BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!!" you know? the author is so optimistic about the future, even though the current pain of falling out of love is difficult. i almost feel as if i could have written this poem (of course i couldn't, because i can't write poetry, but you know what i mean).

and melis' comment just made me mad. so now we're having an IM-away-message war, where her message is in response to my reaction, and my message is in response to her away message. grrr. how could she be so insensitive? she's totally not the same best friend she used to be.

i wish i could be more philosophical on here. but i'm too tired, and i don't have the energy to come up with something interesting to talk about.

oh yeah, and poop on all of you who don't sign my guestbook. it takes a minute, and it would make me really happy, but no. c'mon, write in the guestbook and make an overworked girl happy! :-)

days since i last posted: 4, days since i've had class: 3, number of bball games my sis' team has won: 22, number they've lost: 0, chances of making the state title game: really really good, countdown to FRANCE: 12 days!!

high: getting my PBIL cs assignment to work.
low: realizing how messy my dorm room is.

life is good. no cs250 monday morning. sweet. lots of good bball pictures from this weekend. finally learning how to use the digital camera, which is fun. next bball game is tuesday (driving home @ 130 and back after game ... i know i'm crazy, but my sis deserves it, ya know?)

today was alexis' 20th bday. her friend Emily came up on friday. she's really nice. the 6 of us went out for thai food ... yummy! we played musical plates, the best.

work sucks. wrote a 3.5 page french paper in about 3 hours today, and did *lots* of cs. blah.

found out on friday that i've essentially been accepted to USydney. wow. *so* excited!

i just remembered another thing - i found out who i'll be staying with in France! countdown to france: 16 days!!!! i haven't been on an airplane in over three and a half years. and now i'm going to france, and then i'll be going to australia! two different countries in the same year! i'm so psyched, can ya tell??? :-D

i burned 10 cds last night. most for me, but one for court and a couple for sar. almost all was howie too, but some david gray. my two favorite artists at the moment. speaking of which, i'm going to see howie on april 21 and david gray on april 27. i can't wait. :-)

work: tons (ng), work finished in past few days: tons (vg), application for off campus study (Bowdoin form): turned in (vvvvg - early too!), application for University of Sydney: mailed (vvg - today! program still open), hours til i drive home: 12

i haven't posted in over 2 days. something must be wrong with me. oh no, wait, some nice person (or people) decided that instead of making hell week the week before spring break, they'd make hell week this week and weekend. thank you very much. so now heather can't come up this weekend. but i'm going home to see ingy's bball game(s), so hopefully we'll be able to get together then. and i'll be able to work at the bank and make some of the money i just spent last night on camera accessories. i bought two 64mb smartmedia cards for my camera, which bring my grand total of mbs to 136. there is *no* way i can ever not have enough film now. because i should be able to take *at least* 1000 pictures. :-) i also bought some rechargeable batteries, and i'm waiting to see if i won the recharger. i can't even *begin* to express how much i love ebay.

i'm too tired to think of anything profound or exciting to write. Well, there is a new *crush*. :-) always fun. i actually think i'd ask him out if i *knew*, for certain, that he didn't have a girlfriend. we'll see what happens.

oh, and i think i'm going to start writing down my high/low at the beginning of each post as well. this is a game my friends and i play to talk about our days without talking about every little detail. you just explain what the high(s) and the low(s) of your day are.

high: finding out the USydney program hasn't closed yet and mailing off my application
low: spending over an hour and a half trying to figure out a java program i wrote for my math homework, and realizing it didn't work because of a *stupid* little mistake.

see? it's easy. and you're allowed to have as many as you want. sometimes they're trivial things (ie - high: my crush walked past me), but sometimes they're really important things (ie - low: i got a 15 on my math test). We usually play high/low at dinner or while we're trying to procrastinate. try it sometime ... it really makes you think about your day, and about what makes you happy and sad.

feel free to leave messages in my guestbook about your highs/lows! :-)

alcohol consumed: 3 beers (vg, considering it was all w/in an hour), super-happy moments: 2 (super smiley faces!), number of calories burned while dancing for more than 2 hours tonight: way more than i consumed today

life is good. almost perfect. (btw, i'm not super-sober at the moment) still looking for prince charming to show up at my door. got all decked out tonight for the mardi gras party. fun times. didn't take any pictures (sorry!). it's really hot in my room. worked on websites all day, went out to dinner with sara and her family (they are the *coolest*). but i'm tired, so i'm going to bed. :-) as always.
