Ok... I think that I got the bug worked out of Flashing you. Enjoy. It's my little version of the infamous "Hello World!" that everyone does.

Up next... some enhancements and other fun.

I am SO happy with myself. Can I FLASH you? (hit refresh aka F5 a few times)

Actually, it seems to be loading like crap. So I don't know if you can get it. If you do, enjoy. I'll be troubleshooting that tomorrow.

My very first flash. Took me about 10 minutes. I heart flash now.

BTW... that last post was a Princess Bride reference.

(Thanks to Obscurestore.com for that. It's like The Onion, except it's real.)

Well, things have been way too busy lately. I applpied for a REAL full time job with the department at the university I currently work for. As is government policy, they had to post the position to the public as well. When it was all said and done, 263 people applied for this one position. While I think I have the best skill set of the internal candidates, who knows about these other chode-heads.

The kind of scary part about it (aside from some VERY overqualified applicants) is that about a third of these people couldn't follow the most basic part of the posting: send a cover letter breifly describing your qualifications, a resume, and at least 3 references complete with name, address, phone number, and email address. Ummm...those are some really unexpected things, aren't they? It is almost as odd as the guy who dropped his off and then got all rude and huffy with Jeff, who would be HIS BOSS and is on the HIRING committee.

Anyway, today is "Fun with Dreamweaver" day. And Flash and fireworks. We'll see what I can pull out of my ass with those.

I can't sleep. I'm very upset. I got a major smack in the face over email today. I feel that I've let myself and some I care about down.

Because of this, I've decided to set up my email so that all non-work senders are going into a folder for review in a few weeks. I don't think anything productive can come of it for a while. I already feel like my response was a major foot in mouth. But I can't be tippy-toe right now. I'm just too tapped out. I even tried using one of my old back meds and couldn't get to sleep. I think I'm going to go camping this weekend alone. I need to get away.

I'm upset. I see potential horrific events in the future for those that I care about and I am unable to do anything about it. This causes huge amounts of stress for me. I know there is a limit to what you can hear and believe from others, but that does not make it any easier.

To top it off, I have stupid shyte like the following that happens. I was driving on a street through campus. I have a GREEN light. A guy is walking against the light. Instead of stopping walking (as I expected), he sees me coming and charges up and kicks the side of my jeep! WHAT THE HELL!!!!! He is jaywalking and kicks my car? Then when I stop to get his info in case of damage to my jeep, he punches me before I can even get out. Yea, my window was open. It was like 90 degrees! Fortunately, all he did to the jeep was scuff a plastic fender over the back wheel. I spent the afternoon talking with the cops because I really didn't take kindly to being sucker punched. Yes, Gabi, Dads don't carry batons in their cars. But this is why. There are enough psychos out there and I seem to be a jackass magnent.

Granted, I could have slammed on my brakes to avoid this jerky boy who was jaywalking. I guess I thought he'd do the normal thing and just wait for me to cross. These events tend to be a reflection of my inner state...which currently is a maelstrom of frustration and inexpression.

Bah.

Further reasons why I'm worried about those I care about... the very road I see someone about to start down has led my BigX to being raped two weeks ago. The very path I see the center of my concern going down has led the BigX to be naive enough to put herself in a situation where that could happen. COULD. Not saying it was her fault, but she REALLY could have avoided the situation. Or so I'd like to think.

Enough prattling on. I'm going to go crank the hell out on my bicycle. Mebbe that'll make me feel better.

Okay, first off. I can't believe Liz went to an Ani DiFranco concert. She mocked the hell out of me for liking Ani years and years ago (back in the Dacotah Daze) and now is going to a concert (and talking about sucking dick too... SCARY!! 8^)

Back in Colorado. Ohio made me rather sad. I liked the reunion (large servings of Crow and Humble Pie to others). It was great to see my family and had a great time with them. It's just that some of the other people I saw really made me worry. I see one couple who, because they are essentially unable to see each other regularly, cling to each other and tred all over their friends acccidentially because of it. Then there is someone else who is heading warp speed down a very bad road. However, I know from my own experience that no amount of talking can help until you fall flat on your face. I guess I was disappointed because this person is letting themselves be treated like a doormat (and is FAR better than that) and because of a SigOther (who really doesn't give a crap about this person) and the fun of a friend's place, I didn't get to see this friend hardly at all. Then this person made a big mistake and started treating me like all I was good for was doing favors and disappearing again. Very disappointing and heartbreaking in a sense. Bah. I am too damn emotional some times and take too damn long to move on with my life. Liz was right...I have feelings and they're misplaced and not reciprocated.

Speaking of Liz, she has rediscovered the joy of alcohol. Yes, the reunion was brought to you by the companies Miller Brewing and Stoli Vodka. We were totally hammered on the float. I had a blast. There will be pictures appearing later this month.

Wow. Apparently, M thinks the movie Swordfish is the movie equivelent of Maxim. Niiiiiiiiiice. A must see, then. As Roger Ebert said recently, "You have to appreciate trash for being good trash." Leathal Weapon was a glorious cop-buddy movie. Sounds like this is explosions, guns, suspence, more explosions, and naked chicks. Hey, they paid Holly Barry half a million to drop her top. I think we should get our money's worth! Besides...wow...what a hottie!

I am very excited to report this...
Yesterday I finally managed to get schedules in synch so that I could actually help with a dog rescue transport. For those of you unfamiliar with this, dogs are taken in to foster homes until a good home can be found. Then people do a relay with the doggie across the country to get the good dog to a good home. This doggie, a liver and white springer spaniel, went from Chandler, AZ, to North Platte, NE. I drove him from Raton, NM, to Denver. I then met his adopting parents in a park here in Denver. This is them with Pete and his new sister, Terra. That is Pete on the right.

Monday was a STELLAR day. Why?

1) I cut 5 minutes off my mile swim time.
2) I benched 20 lbs more than the last time.
3) I found this RILLY cool woman to cut my hair. She rocks!
4) I plugged my ears and submitted a proposal for a bunch of money.
5) I've lost some weight, but also gained a lot of muscle mass.
6) They accepted the proposal!
7) I found this INCREDIBLE Mexican place with awesome green chilli sauce. Wow.

After all the fun with the harrassment, I've added a meta tag and a robots.txt file to my domain to keep search engines away. I guess I don't want anyone finding me for a while. I'm pretty pissed off with the fact that someone who doesn't even know me puts a peronsal ad about me that is very unflattering (except how much she said I weigh) on the web.

Gee, sorry. Didn't find it funny at all. Don't care if others have done it to you. I would assume they know who the hell you are. Besides, you should never do stuff like that from work.

Saw the chick from the life-saving bra story and the hunk of metal today on the morning news. I half expected her to look totally PWT. Actually, she seemed fairly cute.

On a seperate note, I had my first SERIOUS workout today. Swam for an hour (a little over a mile) and lifted weights for about 45 minutes. I am BEAT. It's my two week boot-camp for myself. I am eating 5 small meals a day, only drinking light beer (and only a max of 3) on weekend nights, doing the mile swim, 45 minutes weight lifting, and bicycling about 5-10 miles a day. Okay, not today because there is a huge thunderstorm outside. But still...I'm feeling the buuuurn.

Holy crap! Darwinism is still alive, on some level. You have to check that out. Reading a paper while driving is dumb. Reading a paper while driving on a highway is about on the level of tattooing "Please remove me from the gene pool before I breed" on your forehead.

But then again, Letterman had an ad from France on that had a little harness to attach your laptop to your steering wheel.

Thanks to Obscurestore.com for that and the life-saving bra story.

Ah, yes. Old ghosts have re-appeared.

I guy I met in college found a (mis) quote of him by searching Google on his name. First rule for my site redesign is the meta tag to keep Google and the rest away from my blog. They can look at my main page all they want.

Oh well, the reason I mention this is that he has started a mini-Jihad. You see, the last time I spoke with him, we got in a fight. Like an actual FIGHT fight. I can't even remember the reason why, I just remember that we both got WAY out of hand. (I can hear Liz saying "You? Out of hand? Noooooo!") Anyway, so he hates me now and was really bent that I had his name on my page, let alone misquoted him. His response? Creating an odd email address to send me this vague 3rd person request to change my blog. Since I couldn't find it right away (I blogged it in July, 2000), he took further action. Apparently he and the Krew have a email list that they fire about 200 emails a day to each other, basically insulting each other. So he added me to that list to spam up my email. Wow. I had to create a rule in my Outlook to automatically delete it all (which is SO difficult with that little "bulk mail" option). But I can tell he is sitting out in SF so pleased with himself and saying "OHHH YESS!! I've pissed DanO off again!".

Personally, I am a tad scared that he hasn't gotten over it. Granted, I've never been that hot at getting over stuff. I still feel I've made a lot of progress. I feel badly that I pissed him off that much because, while we were never THAT close, I still liked him as a social acquaintance.

Robotech Sex
Before Christ Chinese Sword
Assorted Porn hits (all involving shyte...eating it... doing it in your pants... lots of fun stuff...yow)
HANDSCHELLEN (German porn? Maybe I'm wrong, but I though naked women look the same everywhere...)
and...
Fallout cracks what

I think that they meant "Fallout is on what kind of crack"...

Surprisingly enough, the end of your life will include 20 minutes of credits, copyright information, and a rather sad zither-based closing theme.

Damn. At least it isn't only two hours long (3 hours long if I would've been at Pearl Harbor).
Meantime, at least I have my own cartoon character.
