yeah, so... I just haven't had anything to say. What is there to say? None of the things I would normally write about seem important anymore. Writing about the ignorant, racist people I've run into seems to give them a certain power. I don't want to go over and over again the things we've all been watching repeatedly on the news. There's nothing related to last Tuesday that I want to talk about here, and yet nothing else seems appropriate, either. So... that's why I haven't written anything all week. I guess today is supposed to be the day we all try to go back to work and try to put things back together. Although it sounds terrible, one thing we can do to "help" is to keep supporting the economy, to keep buying things. Which is the last thing I feel like doing right now. It feels selfish. Grumble. Hate this. All of it.

Harlan is putting together a Memorial CD. Go read his post about it and make song suggestions. It's a creative, useful way to *do* something, when there's very little we can do.

1-800-GIVE-LIFE: for information on donating blood through the American Red Cross, for those who can. For those of us who can't, encourage your friends who can to do so. Not just now, but always....

I can't find an online article about it because all the news sites are overloaded, but two planes just crashed into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York......I'll post more when I can find it.

For the longest time I was unable to balance my check book. The bank statements said I had more money than I was able to account for. I didn't understand where it came from. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me. So, I closed my account and took the money to a new bank and started over. I just got my first statement from my new bank, and I compared it with my checkbook, and for the first time in my life I was able to balance my checkbook to the penny. Go me... go me....

Minus a few gaps here and there... yesterday was the 6th anniversary of my relationship with Harlan.

Six years is a long time.

Ugh. I haven't really felt like I've had anything good to say lately. Good in quality, or good as in positive. It seems like every time I sit down to post something, it's just me whining about something, or freaking out about something. And that's no good. My life is not so hard right now. It's certainly not easy, but I signed on for it and have to figure out how to make it work. That doesn't mean you all need to hear about it all the time.

The other issue I've been having is trying to determine exactly what I want this page to be. Sometimes I use it to catalog what I've been doing lately. I know this isn't interesting to everyone, but I know it is interesting and helpful to those people who I don't keep in touch with 12 times a day and who want to know what's going on. I know that I like reading about what other people are doing on their webpages, because otherwise I have no idea what's going on in their life. But I still feel kind of lame writing things like "I went to a bar last night with 2 girls from class and had calamari for the first time." That's the truth, and I had a great time, but should I really be putting that up here? I don't know. I'm having a hard time defining the purpose of this. Is it to keep my friends informed about my life? Is it to entertain? (If that's the case, I suggest reading Shauna's page instead.) Is it to spark debates? Those have definitely been the most interesting (in my opinion) posts here. Is it to spread my opinions about important and controversial topics? Should it be more of a journal type thing? That kind of freaks me out a bit, and I definitely put boundaries on what I'll say here and what I won't. There's a lot of stuff that I sometimes want to say, want to write down somewhere, but I don't necessarily know if I want the masses reading it. I don't even know who reads this, other than the people who comment. I like the people who comment. But I'm still not comfortable spilling my guts online. That, I suspect, would probably be more interesting than anything I've said lately, but I can't bring myself to do it.

Speaking of which... sort of. I need to find a therapist. It's "very strongly encouraged" by the school for everyone in the counseling grad program. That's fine. I completely understand that. It makes a lot of sense. I also think I just need one, in general. I've been thinking that for a long time. I have a lot of "stuff" that I know I don't deal with very well, if at all. I've also realized in the last 2 weeks that I need to start dealing with it soon because it's going to come up in class, and I'd rather deal with it in the relative privacy of my therapists office *first*, rather than having it come up in a room full of people I don't know very well and a professor I'm trying to impress. Grad school in psychology is hard, not just for the course work, but personally. Imagine how difficult it might be to be sitting in front of your therapist who is asking you incredibly personal, intrusive, *hard* questions, making you look at stuff within you that you don't really want to look at. Then imagine sitting in a room full of people who want to do that for a living, and a professor who does do that for a living, and all eyes are on you. It's hard. And it's only the first week. I need to work stuff out on my own before someone turns to me in a class and puts me on the spot. Ugh. Blah. Stress. Negativity. The very things I was trying to remove from this page. I can't do it. Not yet.

Not that I've been walking through life these last few weeks being a bundle of stressed out negativity. Lots of great things have been happening. Lots of things make me very happy. The weather lately has been incredible and the anticipation of fall is wonderful. I've discovered Luna bars (Mmm. Nutrition for Women. Tastes like a granola bar with a layer of chocolate on the bottom. And it's good for you. Why didn't they think of that before?). But for some reason when I sit down at the computer all I can manage to write about is how stressed out I am. And here we come full circle to the beginning of this post where I vowed to find something new and better to talk about here..... and for some reason all I can hear in my head is Scott's voice saying "Blabadoo, Timmaaaay" :)

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you have to be Catholic to have a conversation with St. Anthony. The man has never let me down yet. I thought I lost my parking permit for school last night. I couldn't find it when I got there, so I worried all night that I was going to have a ticket when I got out. I didn't. Then I tore my car and backpack apart looking for it. Needless to say, one quick call into St. Anthony and it was found. Sheesh. I feel like I'm going to lose my mind in addition to my parking permit. Everything feels so frenzied right now. I know I'll settle into a schedule soon... but in the meantime I feel like a chicken with it's head cut off. Which I've never seen, thank god, because I imagine it's pretty nasty. But you know what I mean....
