09.15.01 Keeping focused via distractions
I know we're not suppose to feed the animals in the garden behind the Smithsonian castle, but Oh My God! This little pigeon only had two toes! And it cooed and preened and strutted back and forth until I flung some bread in its way. I wore my new ladybug shirt (thanks, lovey) and was quite the Miss Popular among the bees. Then I made my way to the Hirshhorn Museum and got an eyeful of color at the Clyfford Still exhibit. I highly recommend the show, it only runs until... September 16! Well, then, I urge everyone to go tomorrow and catch it before it goes.

Alexa's away message

09.14.01 Revision to prior fix
The bath and perrier doesn't really work, so here's a new way to unwind:

- smoke a fag
- take some Tylenol
- go to bed

09.13.01 Relaxing, flat d.c. style
In light of all the stressful ish going on, I've come up with a good cure-all for whatever ailing you:

- a hot bubble bath (add scented oils and candlelight to taste)
- a bit of Kruder & Dorfmeister on the stereo (preferably playing as you are in the tub)
- and a cold bottle of Perrier for when you are done with your soak but still wearing that terry cotton bathrobe

rinse and repeat. enjoy. (warning: effects are only temporary)

09.12.01 Still dumb, less founded
I'm just afraid of the backlash against people of Middle Eastern descent in the US. I've already heard too many stories today of "Arabic-looking" people getting beaten up by ignorant, confused fucks. I've also had it with all the stupid rumors going around. It's hard to keep above the gossip when MSNBC's subjective journalism is showing the rare glee of some remote Palestinian town that just happened to be angry at the US for always siding with the Israelis. Now every belligerent fool will think the entire Middle East is laughing at us.

09.11.01 holy shit
We're okay. In fact, Alexa and I were plowing through the melee to find a Chipotle. Ten hours later, I'm still dumbfounded. hope there's no war.

Apparently, my dorm was the only one evacuated. There was a bomb threat?!

09.09.01 I have rich friends
Skanky-freshmen-dorm-survivalists, Matt, Jon, and Jim now inhabit a gorgeous townhouse off of 25th and K. They threw a party last night at which I got spinny drunk and repeated stories from this thing ("Yeah, I know. I read it on your website..."). And of course, what's a Matt Perrone party without impromptu guitar improvisations (with Aaron, fellow FreeCondoms.commie, on bass) of Velvet Underground songs?

09.08.01 Wallpaper* will be the death of me
beloved magazine creates another branch of $10 issues

09.07.01 I am so unbelievably tired
but I will show up tomorrow to see Red Man at the GWU Fallfest (Cypress Hill + the Roots played last year so one can imagine the musical leanings of the kids on the program board).

A couple nights ago, Alexa and I hear what sounds like two giant plungers wrestling in the style of an old Japanese monster movie. We rush to the window to see what's going on. Unfortunately, we can't see anything other than the people living in the apartments across from us - also staring out of their windows to see what's going on. Annie calls me in a panicked frenzy, and hysterically yells into the phone, "YEON-WOOOO! DO YOU HEAR THAT? I THINK THEY ARE SETTING OFF CHEMICAL BOMBS BECAUSE OF THE WORLD BANK!" I reply, "OHMIGOD! I have to close the windows!" - as if that would stop the anthrax. Anyway, as it turned out, Dubya was having a state dinner with Vincente Fox and the noises came from the fireworks commemorating the event.

On a related note, my school is shutting down for the World Bank/IMF protests from Sept.27 - Oct.2.

09.05.01 It's TRUE!
My friends warned me, but I didn't believe them... aw so sad

Meanwhile, my roommate is currently amusing me with her dramatic-but-genuine reactions to the intense Agassi/Sampras match. She's already pounded the floor, flounced onto her bed, and responded to close tie-breakers with odd little jumps:
