Looking for the 'safe' PBS channels for my pre-schooler, I came across the image of smoke billowing from one of the twin towers. I heard them say it was a plane that had crashed into it and they were discussing the possibility that it was planned! Then, before my eyes, the second plane hit the other tower.
Then, I knew for sure, it was no accident. I remember thinking how removed and helpless I felt. But the true horror and total disbelief came as the day unfolded and the towers fell. I still can't believe how humans can do such things to each other. As if that wasn't enough, I soon learned that
children I know lost a parent because of this senseless act. My heart aches for those who have lost their loved ones. What have the terrorists gained from this? I will not be deterred by terrorists and will enjoy all the freedoms that my ancestors fought to gain for this country and the world. Peace be with you.
